California in general has an abysmal record when it comes to electing a president! It always seems to be on the wrong side. Just what is up with that? LOL Lincoln was a man for the hour. There aren't many of those, unfortunately! I think we've had two or three, max! There could never have been anyone sitting in that Oval Office who faced more than that gentleman! I would like to think that those who have followed have thought on occasion of him. I'm sure there are those who have. Whether it did them any good I'm not so sure.

Lincoln was a Republican. Democrats opposed the abolition of slavery and every major civil rights legislation. So this is no surprise.
