bbavender's Bulk 2010-11

Hey everyone I started a new thread here in the nutrition log. I have been bulking now for 5 weeks and have been on a new nutrition plan that was made for me by Wellness2020. I also am doing his Growth Stimulus Training Routine that he also set up for me.

Well here is a little backstory on myself. 2 1/2 years ago I was 350 pounds, eating everything in sight (mostly fast food), going to the bar 5 nights a week drinking 18-24 beers a night. Obviously this was leading me down a road of obesity and unhappiness for the rest of my life. My "ah-ha" moment happened while I was at the bar. I was spending the evening out with my best-friend. He ran into a girl he worked with, I didn't know her and wasn't involved in the conversation. I did, however overhear their conversation. She asked him "how's it going on the lady front this evening?" he responded saying "ah, nothing too great yet, but the night is still young." She responded with "if you didn't have that fat **** with you, your chances might improve." That was my ah-ha I need to change moment. Starting the next morning, I joined the local gym and begun doing cardio. I eliminated all restaurant food, and regular soda. I didn't track calories but now that I have a grasp on nutrition I would say I was taking in 1500 calories a day. For someone 6'4", 350 pounds, that is about 1500-2000 calories under maintenance. Fast forward 2 years, I am in a hospital bed at 147 pounds afraid to eat anything that isnt a fruit or vegetable. I had a full fledged eating disorder on the verge of death. I checked into a clinic and established a healthy weight at 175 pounds. Still very light for someone 6'4" I have now decided that I need to bulk up and gain some muscle mass. Im tired of being cold and looking like I am not well. I have reached out and gotten help from Wellness2020 to help with my nutrition and weight lifting journey. My total goal is to go from 175 to 215 in however long it takes. I am up 5 pounds in 5 weeks and am seeing gains in the gym.

This log will be for my food. Which as of right now is very simple. I still don't have a great deal of confidence to enable myself to reach outside the box and challenge myself but those are the ultimate goals. I will be posting pictures to hold myself accountable to ensure that I am getting what I need. The nutritional template that I'm working from has me eating an average of 3150 calories with 3200 on lift days and 3100 on rest days. The macro breakdown is approx. 30% carb/ 35% pro/ and 35% fat. Any support that you can provide will be much appreciated and I hope with your support I am able to suppress any ED thoughts that constantly try to creep back into my life.

Thanks for joining me on this journey!

Today felt really good. Had a great session in the gym, had a great job interview, felt great eating all my meals with no obsessive thoughts about food. Now, I just need to incorporate some "unsafe" foods and then I can start building on it from there.

Today was another great day eating wise. No obsessive thoughts, didn't regret anything that I ate after the fact. My dinner was the highlight of the day meal-wise. I typically am not a huge fan of eggs, but with turkey bacon and cheese I think I found a new go-to meal. Back in the gym tomorrow for my Lift Day. Can't wait to get started doing Deadlifts again, I have shunned them for so long because I didn't think they were necessary, but failed to realize how many muscles they incorporate. Feeling confident in the new nutrition plan, I take my measurements and photos tomorrow before hitting the gym. I hope to implement some cheats in here as I continue to settle in with this plan. Well, till tomorrow.

As a dietitian, I am so impressed by your meals! They are constructed so well. Although more expensive I do have some ideas since you are eating to bulk...

1. Eggs should be the ones higher in Omega-3 (egglands best makes some that are easy to find at most stores)
2. Make sure your nuts are unsalted (unneccessary sodium!)
3. Your frozen (I'm guessing?!) are unsweetned (just bad cane sugar in the frozen kind typically)
4. Your PB shouldn't have any hydrogenated oils. The best natural PB I've found is at GNC called Power PB. SUPER SUPER SUPER high in protein + flax seeds + egg whites.
They sell a similiar product at BB.com store in a large size which would be ideal for you!
5. If you want to start eating bacon reguarly, select the uncured bacon if possible (avoid nitrates - causes cancer etc)
6. Might want to incorporate Macadamia nut oil into your diet - super anabolic and tastes great.
7. What type of whey are you consuming? Like whey isolate, whey blend, soy????
8. I've found Chobani and Faye are the thicker, higher protein greek yogurts than other brands. Watery greek yogurt is blahhhh esp plain :)
9. Consider always using fresh chicken not frozen. Frozen chicken usually has a salt solution (added sodium) which is unnecessary.
10. Finally - consider going organic with meat and animal products. Theres no hormones or antibiotics. Makes things about a $1 more a lbs but when you are eating lots of animal products its really important.

Sorry if you werent looking for suggestions. Looks great and I look forward to seeing your success!

No, I eat the apples and pb separately. I just used an ounce of blueberries because I only had 5 oz of apple and needed 6.

Today was another great day. Other than some idiots in the forums posting my picture and laughing...O well not my problem. Ate a lot of similar meals that I have been eating so not too much variety. The highlight of the day was the bagel with cream cheese. Its been so long since I've been able to enjoy things like that. I really love Greek Yogurt with Strawberries and Blueberries, just cant help myself but eat it. I hope to incorporate some new foods in the coming days. I weighed in this morning and was up .9 pounds since last week. Progressing in the right direction. Training was great this morning I felt strong and energized in the gym and can't wait to get back at it Friday. To those who has started following...Welcome Aboard. All suggestions are welcome and appreciated. Thanks for joining the journey!

Fantastic Developments!
Constant progress, even if deemed "slow", is GREAT regardless.
Slowly introducing new items (bagel and cream cheese) and referring back to said items on occasion is huge.

What are the lifts at this stage? <- Another means of tracking progress.

Today was eerily similar to Tuesday which kind of scares me. When I was at my worst when struggling with ED, my food choices remained stagnant. When I attempted to change it up I became overly anxious and couldn't step out of the box. I felt some of the same feelings today. I went to have a turkey sandwich for lunch, had all the components to make it, and go overly anxious about changing things up and ended up having proatmeal. My weight was also up again today. I have been reading a lot about how creatine causes you to retain more water so I am attributing my weight gain to the fact that I just started taking creatine last week. Im kind of excited that today has drawn to a close, and that I can get back in the gym tomorrow. With me being out of work it leaves me a lot of spare time to allow obsessive thoughts to creep in and question my nutrition and training which I know both are on point. Hopefully I can challenge myself tomorrow, and I know its gonna be a great gym day Im so excited for Micro 2 Press Day tomorrow. As always suggestions are always welcome to help me overcome this anxiety and tips on branching out are helpful. Well, till tomorrow.

The same meals sounds like a double edge sword for you, on one hand it is easy to have the same thing day in and day out because it is easy to prepare and track, but with you ED background I can see how this can be problematic. Keep up the good work buddy and hope you had a good training session today!

Dont feel bad duder! Some times I get hooked on a "safe zone" of macro's or foods and then after a week of seeing the scale do jack crap I get pissed off and make a change! I find my self still stressing over food, eating out in public, macro's and the signs my body tells me. It sure is a mind ****!

Its really hard when you start a bulk and have a history of an ED. About 99% of the time you feel like you look like crap and dont like what you see. Even tho people around you will say great things about how you are looking stronger and healthier it still always in the back of your head how much you dont like your self. I try and stay away from the Mirror these days =P

Just keep chugging along!

Felt good today. A lot of repeats, well 4 repeats to be exact. It is still so tough for me to branch out and try new things. I have an extensive choice of foods but tend to revert back to meals that I have created in the past. The way my meal plan works, I can have so many carbs/pro/fat with each meal so being creative is the key. My creativity was lacking today. I did enjoy my dinner though. It has been so long since I had grilled cheese, so I made a modified Turkey Bacon Grilled Cheese! I had a great workout today and am definitely feeling some DOMS from Wednesday. I will be even more sore tomorrow I just know it. I want to branch out my meals but my greek yogurt with blueberries strawberries and almonds is just so darn good. Well, till tomorrow folks.

Just relaxed and watched a little TV today. The obsessive thoughts from two days ago were not here today which is good. I really need to stop weighing myself every morning, the water weight fluctuations are driving me bonkers. I was happy with my food choices today, I especially likes the chicken salad with hot sauce for lunch. This week should be interesting with Christmas right around the corner, Im not sure I'll be able to partake in the family meals. Our family always orders pizza for Christmas Eve, and I dont think I'm ready for that. We also always make a large brunch Christmas morning before going to Grandmas for dinner. I dont think I will be able to participate but my family understands. My back was pretty tight all day and the DOMS were killing me once again. I am actually changing up the routine this week, Im going to start doing a 4 day split as opposed to the 3 day split. I just have so much time on my hands right now with being out of work that I'm not doing anything except lurking on BB.com. Well, I appreciate all that follow this thread and your tips and suggestions are much appreciated and helpful. Although it seems as if I dont change much up, I am certainly trying, not only for myself, but to not let anyone down here who supports me. Well, till tomorrow my friends...

You can still eat with your family on Christmas Eve. Most pizza places have subs/grinders, and you can order it specifically to your liking (what ever meat, veggies, no sauce, etc.).

You won't let us down! You are doing great. Changing up your diet will not make it or break it with 1 meal on Christmas or Christmas Eve :) *pink swear* = dietitian's promise to you!

I bought the ThinkThin White Chocolate Chip protein bars. Macros look good. We'll see how it tastes!

If you are feeling like you cant fit it into your macros well then! You can, you are eating 3K+ so just base your meals out around what you are going to eat with the family. Give your self a nice 700-1k Cal space to use up with them. Even if you eat pizza most white slices are not to crazy on the calories. 200-300 cal a slice maybe?

This year to make my life easy I am tracking everything I eat on Christmas other then the Filet mignon I am making for dinner. Just going to eat my normal Macro's and count out 2500 calories and then leave 500 or so calories for eye balling 9oz of steak!

You can be anal about it or just remember its one day out of the year and isnt going to really kill you in the end. Also your on a bulk! If this was a contest prep with only a few days until comp this might be a different story =P

Food was good today. Too bad the Browns lost, they suck. I still am getting used to this bulking feeling. I have to put my scale away, I have become obsessed with weighing myself every morning, and get paranoid about the weight fluctuations. Im gonna do a weekly weigh in and check my bf% once a week as well. Im going to take photos every 2 weeks to monitor progress, because from my background relying on the mirror is tough because I have a distorted body image. Im really excited to get back in the gym tomorrow. The DOMS are gone and I'm ready to tackle squat day. This will be my first week of a 4-day split so Im gonna see how my body responds as opposed to the three day week. I am planning on having that pizza with my family on Christmas Eve as my nutrition plan has cheat meals built into the macros that im allowed to use 3-4 a week. I have yet to use them in almost 2 weeks as I'm afraid that since I know I'm in a calorie surplus that I will put on excess unwanted fat. I have shocked myself that I haven't tried to restrict my calories although my weight has really gone up with the addition of creatine and properly hydrating myself. That is something that I am very proud of. Well, till tomorrow...

Felt great at the gym. I am really excited for this weekend. Im going to try and give into allowing some foods that I see as off-limits. Im really focusing on trying to break through this wall because it needs to be done. Im sick and tired of trying, if your not succeeding, your not trying hard enough. I have a follow up interview Thursday and we got Browns tickets for Sunday. This week is already turning brighter. Hey man - this is a good read, you're clearly committed and thats motivating.

Just a quick question on the macros, I have in my head (from random browsing) that a bulking diet should be something like 50% carbs, 25% protein and 25% fat, yet you seem to be eating way more protein than that. Is there a reason? Can your body even process that much?

Just finally, wanted to say that if (when!?) you achieve your goal you will have an abolsutely fantastic story to tell. If you could show through some pictures of you at 350 obese, 147 skin & bones and the finally at 215 ripped it would be amazing.

good luck

I dont really follow a % macro base. I get a minimum of 250g of protein, minimum of 90g of fat, then fill the rest with a combo. On training days I eat roughly 330g carbs/250g pro/and 90g fat. On rest days I consume less carbs because I dont need as much energy so my splits look more like 230g carbs/ 250g pro/ and 130g fat. Its just the way my template was set up for me by my trainer. Hopefully at the end I will post all of my pics. From where I was huge, to sick, to ripped hopefully.

1.I dont really follow a % macro base.

2.On rest days I consume less carbs because I dont need as much energy

1. And you shouldn't

2. So why do you increase fat? Fat and carbs = energy. If you are meeting your 250g p and 90g f, then you could eat the remainder with carbs to meet calorie need.

Applebee's has a section of the menu that is 550cals or less

The gym was great today. Felt strong and energized. Really enjoyed my bacon egg and cheese bagel tonight, tasted 4000% better than I remembered McDonald's similar sandwich tasting. The job hunt is still ongoing as todays meeting didnt bring much good news. I am really looking forward to vacation here in three weeks, but Im concerned with my nutrition when Im gone. Not worried about training as much because there is a gym at the place we'll be, but my nutrition will be all out of whack being that I will be eating most of my meals out, which I never do. I am a bit nervous about that because I dont want to put on a considerable amount of fat in the 12 days I'm gone. Tomorrow is the day that I'm supposed to be making my first cheat on my diet, I dont know if I'll be able to go through with it when the moment comes *pizza* ftw. Well...till tomorrow...

Home-made food kills any fast food! I think you will be fine on vaction, maybe pre-pack some foods like cans of tuna? oats and whey. If you go out, just hit high protein like chicken and salads, steaks etc and ask for the sauces on the side or in a dipping bowl. You will be fine mate, just have fun and enjoy the break! If you dont want to cheat on pizza, than why eat it? I'll prob get negged for saying that, but its your choice, why do something you dont want too..

If you do like pizza, try Homerun brand individual pan cheese pizza. ITS AMAZING. Its great because its only 1 serving, microwavable yet crispy, no preservatives, and its only 570 calories with 27g of protein. Might be worth trying???

There at Target in the food section, Busch's supermarket, and Whole Foods.

its 14.6 total oz i split it into two glasses because i dont have one where it all fits into one. I also add 3.9 oz half and half to get some fat in it and I put it in the freezer for about 7-8 hrs and pull it out and let it sit at room temp for about 15 min

1) You have a gym at the place you are going to.

2) You are eating 3K+ Calories and BULKING!!!! You can go out to eat and still enjoy your self. Go to places and just look around on the menu for stuff you normally eat and ask them to just make sure they cook it with out butter. Nothing wrong with getting some grilled chicken, steamed veggies and a big baked sweet.

You need to get out your head that if you eat something that isnt "Healthy" the fat monster is going to jump out and bitch slap you with 12lb's of lard. 3K calories of salad or cake its still calorie in / out. How you might feel about eating those foods / how your body uses them as energy is a different story but dont make your vacation a nightmare over food.

Dont want to come off as an ass-hat but no need to turn a bulk into a contest prep mind set! Enjoy your eats duder and keep up the good work.

I had my first cheat meal on my new nutrition plan. I still fear what it may do to me, but its the holidays and its a giant step in the right direction. Whats even more telling is that I went ahead and had the meal after my cheat which wasnt even an option before. So Im encouraged by today. I had a good time with the family and tomorrow is a new day. You can enjoy things you love just do them in moderation. Not eating with the family tomorrow but will be there for the celebration. Another hurdle in my journey comes Sunday at the Browns game which I cant wait for. Well, Merry Christmas to all...and to all a good night...

Glad to see the pizza in there. That's a huge step for ya man, now keep it up. I've said it once and I'll say it again, it'll be easier to eat "out of the norm" foods each and every time from now on.

Why are you considering the pizza a "cheat meal"? I'm assuming that's Pizza Hut and I believe it's only slightly above 600 calories and the macros are available on the website.

I also realize you are trying to follow 2020's method, but why? There's nothing special about his method and his logic is just as faulty as the "bros" out there

Not hating, just trying to help.

Good job on stepping out of your boundaries however

Im not following his method, he came up with a nutrition template for me. Its similar to what he does but not exact. Its a cheat meal because its not a natural source. And, I consider pizza a cheat meal.

Not trying to hate but Not a Natural Source 0.o You gotta get out of your head that "OMG I HAD SOMETHING THAT WAS MADE BY ME!!!!!"

The only difference in that pizza from one you could have made is that you didnt make it your self. I mean come on duder! Its a cheese pizza, what would you have done different to your home made one if you made it? Whole Wheat crust, blah can sauce and maybe low fat cheese? In the end the same stuff that you made it with is probably on par with what they made it with.

You are EATING 3200 calories a day. This is NOT A Contest Prep, Calorie in Calorie out. Train, Eat, Sleep. Dont fear eating stuff like this or you are not ready for a bulk. You are not going to get fat if you eat a pizza that is 600 calories or if you just keep on eating your "Greek Yogurt, Granola, Strawberries, Blueberries, Almonds" Heck the macro's for that meal alone are probably almost the same calorie wise.

I wasnt saying I was going to get fat. What I said was that was one of my 3 cheat meals for the week. Even if I made it at home I would consider it a cheat. Just my mindset.

And why would you consider it a cheat meal if it was home made? Not trying to be an ass but there is nothing wrong with eating that. If its fitting into your daily Macro you are not cheating.

I see you eating Cheese, I see you eating Bread and I am sure you at some point you eat or have eaten tomatoes in different meals. If you combined all those into one meal you get pizza >_> I just dont get why you see that as a cheat meal. But yet you drink Protein shakes and even if you would count them has wise calories but fact is they are just as processed as any other food you are eating.

To be blunt you got fat before hand because you most likely didn't watch what you ate, and I dont mean you made bad food choices but you probably sat there and ate well over your maintenance calories. If you are busting your ass in the gym and working hard then there is no rhyme nor reason why you cant enjoy your eats.

As so am I but saying Home made pizza would still be a cheat is like saying home made 93/7 burgers is a cheat meal.

My point is that he tends to point out that he is shy about eating anything but natural food choices as if they are going to not add fat to him when in the end its Calorie in vs Calorie out that will come into play with adding in body fat. Its something that inst going to happen over night as well.

I like his food choices, other then a few things it reminds me of a lot of the foods I eat. Simple / Clean Meals.

Merry X-Mas bro. Hope you enjoyed the pizza, you hit your macros dead on, so it doesn't even seem like a cheat meal to me. You can't make to much out of it and hopefully you're not making yourself miserable thinking about having to make your food choices, ie the holiday celebration today w/ your family and the Browns game on Sunday.

I completely agree with these guys. You need to get out of your comfort zone. I also think you need a little more variety in your diet. Do you not like meat and potatoes? Most of your protein/carb sources seem to be whey and cream of wheat or yogurt and berries. I'm not one to hate on whey but I wouldn't make it the bulk of my protein.

Im very limited on what I can cook. I dont really like tuna, cottage cheese, fish, and Im not really into eggs. I just dont like there texture or taste very often. So my protein sources are really: Chicken, Beef, Whey, and Greek Yogurt.

Well the big day has come and gone. I didnt eat what we had at Grandma's but it was no big deal. Tomorrow I head to Cleveland for the Browns vs The Old Browns. It should be cold and snowy, GREAT FOOTBALL WEATHER. Im gonna have a blast with my pops. I dont think there will be any photos of food tomorrow, and I may not type a log depending on when we get back. If I'm not here tomorrow I'll be back Monday. I appreciate all the support everyone gives me either negative or positive because I know how twisted my mind can work. I see myself in one light when no one else sees it that way so its a good perspective to have outsiders weigh in so I thank you all. Well...another day.

IMO there is no excuse for not eating CHristmas dinner with your family (pizza right?). You could have easily fit it into your macros. But...
1. You mention not wanting to eat unnatrual foods as part of Wellness2020's plan...yet he has built in pizza days.
2. You could have ordered a sub. Heck even a salad.
3. You could have eaten your cream of wheat and whey with them just to take part in sharing a meal with every1.
Not eating with them is saying "My obsession is ore important than my family".

Man you are on a bulk and its Christmas, people who are on prep cuts had dinner with there family! Heck there isn't even a tree up in my house, not one gift was handed out and I think I was the only one who said Merry Christmas to my family. Guess what we still sat down and had a Christmas meal.

I am still getting over an ED and yet I still ate like a King. I did the shopping and fit the meal into my Macro. Sure it might have been a tad bit off because I wasn't going to be that anal and cut out 10oz of flank steak just for my self but still I sat down and ate with the family.

That 1st pic I seen had a box of candy in it and it made me think EPIC EATS!!!! And then.... Whey, Cream of Wheat, Apple, BLAH BLAH BLAH. I wish I had a family that got into the holiday spirit and had a feast!

Again not trying to rip into you but stop thinking you are going to turn into a beast with eating like this. Your body isn't a calculator! Find the X number needed to gain weight, train as hard as you can and get your rest. That is the end factor in what will turn you into a beast.

So you sheltered your self on a holiday :/ Id like to know if your family thought about that. If you told them you are on a strict diet I'd really be disappointed.

As for eating other foods and limited on what you can cook. I know you have a stove and a Microwave. Only thing I use is my George Forman Grill, Stove/Top and Microwave and thats all you need. Get your self some steaks and Broil them bad boys up! Heck slice of some potatoes, add in some veggies, drop some cheese on that bad boy and bake it up!

As for you dont like this or that, can I ask what you ate before you started this Health kick and got crazy skinny? Is that why you are in fear of some foods?

"Whole Wheat Bagel, Egg Whites, Cream of Wheat, Whey, Turkey Bacon, Mozzarella Cheese"
^^^^^
You ate the eggs! Well if you still are not a fan of eggs try doing something like this:
80g Oats (Cook them 1st)
2 Whole Eggs /1-2 Egg Whites(If not using whole eggs just sub out with more whites)
1 Scoop of W/E Protein Powder you use

Mix it all up just make sure its still got a liquid texture to it and make some pancakes with this! Top it with Sludge, Jelly, Jam, Syrup or what ever you are into! Add some fruit into the batter if you would like.

Just try eating stuff that isn't the same old Beep Beep I am a Robot routine.

I don't think anyone is giving ou negative feedback, but constructive criticism. You keep saying things like your "twisted mind" and wanting to have foods that are different, I think the next step is to dive in head first and try this new foods, get out of your comfort zone. This is what it is all about. The only thing left to do, is do it. You have plenty of positive supporters on here. Good luck. Have fun @ the Browns game and I hope Peyton Hillis runs wild!

Its the only way I will be able to get over this horrible stigma that I believe is concrete evidence. Just because I was fat, doesnt mean I cant eat. I need to realize that I ate 2 meals a day from either McDonalds or Chipotle and know too much about nutrition to allow myself to get to that point again. One step at a time...

Thats what I wanna see!! You probably ate your calories needed alone just with the fast food and then on top of what ever other meals you had =)

The body is a very amazing thing but it doesn't see Lean meats, complex carb, simple carb or healthy Omega Fats. It sees P/C/F =P so enjoy your self to a point and make sure to not drive your self nuts. The good thing about this site is people are more then happy to help you and support you if you show you want it(Or somethings they just do it!)

I know I have gotten help a few times from some of these guys and there has been times when they have gone above and some to help me out!!

Hey BBavender... been keeping up and lurking your log for a while now and just wanted to tell you looks great! We have some things in common...I used to be obese, lost a ton of weight this past year (110 lbs) and now trying to "bulk" up a bit but the scale and that number is my enemy and it's so hard to see it go up! :P I'm sure you know what I mean.. I did start like you and not want to eat anything besides "clean" foods, but after venturing into some new things like ice cream and sugary cereals once.. it feels awesome and hasnt hurt my progress ever since as i incorporate things like that almost everyday! So go for it! :)

PS dont wanna annoying but I hope those arent your actual macros for yesterday! Because they only add up to ~2100 cals :S

I woke up a little later than usual today, and felt a little sluggish at the beginning of my workout. I definitely felt strong at the gym today, so Im really feeling more confident in my nutrition. I am seeing an increase on the scale and my measurements are staying pretty consistent so thats a plus. I have weigh in on Wednesday and it will be interesting to see how the past few days have affected my weight. Well, back up early for the gym tomorrow, with a job interview in the afternoon! Maybe things are turning around for me :). T-Minus 22 days till vacation...cant wait. In response to the posts previous, I wasn't trying to say that I view your comments as negative, I meant to say that I take them as constructive criticism and gives me something to build off of and I appreciate it all. Woke up early and hit the gym. It was Pull Day. Increased all of my lifts so I really felt in tune with my body today. Had the job interview, got the job! Tomorrow I have a date, and were going out to dinner, not sure where but I bet it will be fun. Then we are going to goto zoo lights, I will try and take some pictures because it should be a blast. T-Minus 21 days till vacation...cant wait. Well...till tomorrow...

Im working off of my 1RM that were dreadfully low. When I lost all my weight, I lost all of my strength as well. Its slowly coming back and Im seeing some gains on my lifts. Im not quite into a month of my current program so its still too soon to see how much Ive progressed.

Just want you to know I've been following your log and I'm glad to see how well your doing and to keep it up!

Also I see how much you put almonds in Greek yogurt, I do the same thing but I also recommend trying walnuts, cashews, pumpkin seeds, ect to mix things up both for taste and micronutrition. Yeah...Cashews + Greek Yogurt + Natural Peanutbutter = Heaven

Romanian Deadlifts w/ Shrug 6 reps x 5 sets ~ 120 pounds
Reverse Lunges 6 reps x 5 sets ~ 90 pounds

Here's my goals for 2011: Continue my bulk and open up food choices, gain muscle, regain my social network, get a girlfriend, remember first and foremost it about my health, not my looks, remember that I'm my biggest critic. If I can achieve any of these I will be very proud. Here is my toast to all of you who have helped me thus far in my journey, I hope the very best for you and yours this new year!. Completed my first Macro for presses this morning. Increased my 1RM by 5 pounds so its some progress. Completed all 20 reps which I couldnt do the 1st micro so that was really encouraging that Ill be able to add some weight going forward the next cycle. Really getting in a groove. I have eliminated my cardio at the gym because I started working a new job where I walk 6-12 miles 5 days a week. I am going to have to monitor my intake to see if I need to increase cals to keep up. Hey guys and gals! The last two days have been crazy busy and I didnt get to take pictures. I started my new job and its becoming very difficult to take pics. I will post what I eat and my workouts just to stay accountable, but the pictures will be solely on the weekends. Sunday January 2, 2011

Breakfast: Cream of Wheat, Whey, Red Delicious Apple, Dark Chocolate Dreams

Snack: Greek Yogurt, Strawberries, Blueberries, Almonds

Lunch: Whole Wheat Bagel, 93/7 Ground Beef, Mozzarella Cheese, American Cheese, Almonds

Gym: Macro 1:Micro 4 Squat Day

Leg Press 1 set (AMRAP) x 10 reps ~ 340 pounds
Leg Press 2 sets x 2 reps ~ 340 pounds
Squats 3 sets x 20 reps ~ 95 pounds
Lunges 3 sets x 20 reps ~ 50 pounds
Calf Raises 3 sets x 15 reps ~ 90 pounds
Seated Cable Crunch 3 sets x 20 reps ~ 35 pounds

I am really excited about my progress on Squat Day. I underestimated my 1RM since I increased my new 1RM by 75 pounds. I switched out planks because I have to do them for upwards of 4 minutes to start feeling any type of burn. I have added weight to my back and it just doesnt seem to do anything. I really felt the burn from the cable crunches and will be keeping them as my direct ab work going forward.

Lunch: Schwebel's Whole Grain White, Tuna, Mayonnaise, Mozzarella Cheese, Red Delicious Apple

Today was a great day. It was a bit cold in the morning and working outside makes that tough. Im really nervous about my new job. Not that I dont feel great doing it, but I walk roughly 5-15 miles a day while on the job. I have eliminated cardio at the gym, but still may need to add more calories to help offset this extra work. I went from sendentary when not at the gym to now being very active. Sorry for this extreme wall of text but as always I appreciate all your support. Question for you, With your Squats why so low of weight with such high reps? Why not go for more weight and blow some PR's up!

Also dont fear the walking around. I work a really active job my self and I find that if I am not gaining or I stall then I have just bumped the calories up a bit. + The walking isnt that bad for you to boot! Its a nice thing if you ask me.

Had to workout at home because people in Ohio cant drive when there is snow falling. It took me 1.5 hours to get home from work when it normally takes 8 min. So I decided I'd get my lift in at the house instead but since a lack of leg curl machine I just opted not to do them today. Will get back in the gym next Thursday and hit em next week. Increased my Deadlift 1RM by 30 pounds during this cycle so Im really stoked to be upping the weight. Back at it tomorrow for Macro #2 Press Day!

With my calorie increase looming, I find myself thinking of how I can increase portion sizes so that I can prepare myself for next week. I find that Im very limited with my options being that Im at work from 7:30 - 5 and then at the gym after that so Im finding myself to be stuck in a rut. I am going to try and mix it up although Im not getting really bored with it at this point. This is coming from the guy who ate the same thing everyday for 6 months leading to my hospital stay in 2009 so I dont ever want to get back to that point. Dude. I pretty much your entire thread, post by post.

Your dedication is very impressive (the hospital thing was nuts) and your gonna be where you want to get.

The meal thing is super hard with a full time job, especially a outside job, you probably eat out with coworkers... They are getting wendys... Your food is cold in a work truck? Am I right?

But any, it really again proves that if you want a completely changed body, you can do it. 350 LBs? WOW. Then minus 203 LBs... and back to a healthy weight. Maybe you could have skipped the crazy fruit diet but hey, it worked out in the end and maybe thats what you needed to shake your life up.

Glad to see your progress.

Back from FLA. Had a great week and look forward to getting after it again. I maintained my weight which was the goal since the resort didnt have adequate gym facilities. It was a good 12 days to unwind and let my body recover. Got after it this morning and hit a PR on the bench which is always good to come back to. I may or may not take pics of my food going forward we will just have to see if Im in the mood or not lol.

Macro 2: Micro 3 Squat Day

Leg Press 1 set x AMRAP (10) ~ 360 pounds
Leg Press 2 sets x 3 reps ~ 360 pounds
Squats 3 sets x 20 reps ~ 110 pounds
Lunges 3 sets x 20 reps ~ 70 pounds
Calf Raises 3 sets x 20 reps ~ 110 pounds
Seated Cable Crunch 3 sets x 50 reps ~ 140 pounds

After an extremely long day at work I was kind of sluggish in the gym. Not to mention the 12 day break from working out. After this squat day I know I will be feeling the DOMS come tomorrow or Friday. It feels great to get back in the gym and Im finally getting used to the increase in calories. Im aiming for about 3 pounds a month to keep it relatively lean so we will see how that goes.

I'm glad you're doing something to save your life and be healthier. I will watch your progress, my father is 5'8" and I'm trying to inspire/motivate him to get into the gym and stay with it. Me and my stepmother are worried about him since he's about light - mid 200's. I wish you the best with your program and I look forward to your journey.
