Just read it now.
Fine player; shame he wasn't inducted into the Hall of Fame before he passed on. Seventy is too young to go. R.I.P.

great player on a great team.....that old Cubs team used to bake out there in the midday sun every year without night games and they often faded a bit in the dog days, and it wasn't their fault.....
I have a lot of respect for all of the guys from that team....

Definitely going to miss him during the Cubs games. Sad he never got to experience a WS.

He was sick for a while. Very unfortunate
Great third baseman. Classic infield on the 1969 Cubs team. Borderline hall of famer in my book.

He went through a lot. My prayers are with his family. Listening to Cubs games will not be the same.

here is a GREAT link, as it shows the statistics for the 1969 CUBS team that went head to head with the miracle METS.....
Santos led the pack in power numbers that year, and keep in mind , that this was all pre steroid era stats....
also: they had TWO 20 game winners, along with a 17 game winner....

I remember hearing his name as I was first listening to Cubs games with my friends when I was a kid. We knew all the players and argued about them, and Cubs vs. Sox, all the time - and loved every minute of it. :D
It feels like a piece of my past has slipped away with him gone.
