Hi all, I'm also a newbie to the site. I had my daughter 5 months ago and since the delivery I gained 60 pounds! I don't recognize my body, nothing fits me, I'm happy that is getting cold here because I can wear a coat when I'm going out. Is there a workout and diet that could get me into shape before June. I would hate to go back to work looking like this. I'm also breastfeeding but not losing any weight , so I'm not too sure how to eat.
I feel so lost, please help....
Thanks

Hey, don't stress:) Its all in what you eat and how much you eat of it.... What are you doing currently for your exercise and diet?
Add me and i will do everything I can to help. :)

I was there too. I'm by no means an expert, but I'll go ahead and tell you what I see suggested on here. Go to the nutrition area and training area, and read the stickies. Invest in The New Rules of Lifting for Women or Starting Strength.
Here's my two cents. Join a website to log your calories, I personally use www.myfitnesspal.com. Take pictures and measurements once a month. When you start putting them side by side, you'll start seeing the difference. Even if the scale doesn't move much.

Right now I'm not getting much sleep but when I can I lift some weight and cardio (max an hour). I've never been a big eater, for breakfast I'll have 2 wholewheat toast and a glass of hot chocolate lunch, vegetables, meat and some rice, for dinner I'll have mostly a bowl of cereal, in between meal I'll have a fruit as snack

Mine was born on June 8th so I know exactly where you are coming from with the sleep! My recommendation is a 3 day full body program, that way you are getting in a decent amount of lifting but you aren't overwhelming yourself by trying to do too much too soon. Cardio can be stroller walks/run. Can you buy a jogging stroller?
So 3 hours a week lifting (45-1hr full body, 3x a week) and then stroller running/jogging/walking doesn't even have to seem like a workout but can count as your cardio.
If you've gained 60lbs since delivery it's clear that you are eating too much (I know you said you aren't a big eater but those calories are coming from somewhere). Can you record a daily log of what you are eating? Breastfeeding requires extra calories but only about 500 more, which could be an extra sandwich. A food log would be very helpful.
The goal is to not try and overdo yourself and burn out, and then quit. Lacking sleep is a big problem so go slow

a bit of advice...trying to get in shape before june is kinda crazy, people tend to set these unrealistic goals of "getting in shape" only a few months away. why dont you just make a goal of simply going to the gym and just make sure you go, rather than "get in shape" because that way, when june arrives you wont be too disappointed if your "not in shape"
just my opinion

I wouldnt cut too many calories since your still breastfeeding. You would be taking alot nutritents away from your baby. First start... I would eat healthy instead of heading for the junk. I mean that would def help. Try to walk more or set up a little routine for yourself. I wouldnt push yourself too hard. Fitness is lifetime commitment. Nothing just to do on and off. I would find a starting point and make it your goal to be fit for the rest of your life : )

Get in shape to me it to lose at least a min of 20 pounds in 6 months ( I think that's pretty reasonnable...) even 30 pounds if lucky. I'm fortunate to have all the equipment needed at home to workout

That's just it! I don't eat junk food. I've always watch my carb intake because I get bloated for eating refine carb, so eating mostly 100% whole wheat.I workout 6 day a week ,6 day cardio 5 day strength training on top of breastfeeding. My scale is not moving and I'm not losing inches . It's like I'm doing nothing. As per my doctor I'm healthy, my thyroid is fine.

There really is no magic diet when it comes to that. Just calculate your overall calorie intake, eat 500 calories less to lose 1 lb per week (If that's what you're aiming for, it's the healthiest way anyway), do some cardio to help you out and make sure you include weight training or else you don't want to lose muscle... Good luck! :-)

You are all over the place with your posts. First you just had a child so it's natural to feel overwhelmed. Foremost you need rest, secondly a good sound healthy diet, you cannot starve yourself, because in turn you will not be able to give the baby the proper nutrition he/she needs. And lastly you need to set a schedule for yourself and break up the days you do cardio and days you do weight training. You are working out to much IMO on very little sleep and poor diet.
After the birth of my last child I was constantly exhausted!!! What I would do is split it with 3 days of weight training and two days of cardio and definitely use 2 days off. For some really great info on nutrition and exercise I would look in the following forums:

Also I do not see much water intake. Drinking water is very important, staying properly hydrated especially when breastfeeding is key.
Good Luck and try and get some rest!!!

My son is 2 now.
First of all, while you are breastfeeding you need to make sure you are eating enough and eating right.
Second of all, if you just had a baby and are breastfeeeding, the weight WILL come off. It just comes off slowly. So relax. Normally, you will end up about 10 lbs more than what you were before you got pregnant.

OP....you tell us that you are eating healthy but that really tells us nothing. How many calories are you eating each day? How many grams of protein, fat, and carbs are you consuming? Do you measure or weigh your food? What is your daily activity like (not your workouts)? What do your workouts look like? How much cardio are you doing? How much sleep is not much sleep? Are you stats listed correct? This is the type of information we need in order to really give you some solid advice.

I know what you mean, i have been there and it's a tough place to be. Try to be a bit more gentle with yourself! You just made a baby! That took 9 months and it's still requiring a lot of your body to take care of this precious little person. I was a the gym crying to my personal trainer about not losing weight, working so hard, being so exhausted and not feeling like i could live on any less than i was eating already! He gave me some great advice and that was 1. Chill out, 2. It took months to get to where you are now, it's going to take months (at least) to get you back to where you were or where you want to be. My two cents is that your body changes when you have a baby ( no scientific research, just mummy experience) you will respond to your diet and usual exercise differently. Take your time to get to know yourself again and give your body a chance to recover from making that baby! Be gentle with yourself and give yourself time.
Good luck! you will be fine :)
