Hey Ladies,

I am down 55 pounds now and have obviously noticed big changes. However, the bulk of my leftover fat is in my thighs. It is very frustrating and I know that if I just keep on at it that this too will eventually shrink. Does anyone have any advice or a similar story to tell?

What is/was your trouble area and how have you noticed improvement over time?

Great priogress on your weight loss!

My stubborn fat is in my thighs as well. It's the last place for it go and the first place where I gain it back.

I will say that building up my upper body has made me look more balanced and building the muscle in my legs has helped quite a bit.

I spent years attacking my stubborn fat with cardio, and it wasn't until I put diet first, then lifting heavy at a very close second, and hardly bothering with cardio that I began to really notice those areas drastically improve.

Congrats on your progress so far. Lower half is normally the last to go. It's a matter keeping your eating plan tight to continue losing the body fat. Keep hitting the weights hard and lots of patience...

Yep, its just like kimm says, you just have to keep patience and keep going. Eventually it does come off.

Thighs are my biggest problem area and I am just now seeing results in the specific areas that I wanted and its been 11 months so far.

Mine is my belly which is weird because when I was younger it seemed I had more fat in the thigh area too. All of my female relatives have big thighs and super flat bellies, so I don't know why my body is like this now. lol

I struggle with this also. I am lean all over except inner thighs. It's very frustrating!

From my experience and education, the area that we hold fat onto the longest tends to be patterned by a hormonal imbalance <-- even if it's the tiniest one!

Hips and thighs? Estrogen (I am sure you guessed that!). Look for a supplement called DIM, take with vitamin E.
Also increase your intake of dark berries (cherries best) citrus fruit and broccolli.
Avoid plastic containers for food like the plague.
Are you on birth control, are you on the correct choice for you?

Belly? Cortisol. You'll need to cut all stimulants - fizzy drinks even diet, tea, coffee, cigarettes, alcohol, TV, check where you sleep is a) completely quiet b) totally dark. Get enough sleep (8+ hours) and reduce low-level stress - no worrying!
I'm serious about the TV!
Diet wise, add in green tea, cinnamon and lemon juice.
Cortisol sensitive people should never train for longer that 60 minutes in total.

(Just for interest, back fat relates to insulin/sugar sensitivity, side fat can be thyroid, bingo wings are your androgens.... calf fat = liver toxicity.... )

Hope that helps a bit, maybe gives some new things to add to your weaponary :D

I am sorry but this sounds sooo ridiculous!! What about GENETICS??? some people just gather fat in certain areas bc of their specific body types. I mean, Im just not seeing how "cut out the TV" can be seen as a 'weaponry' against fat loss, maybe talk about how one needs to not be overly sedentary etc etc but "belly fat? --> cut out the TV!" hehe i don't know, it sounds absurd and then "avoid plastic containers like theyre the plague"... come on! wheres the hard science to all this?? bah

No magic advice, just be patient.

I've had some success going 2x a week and very hard on my thighs/glutes. It makes the waiting easier to at least build enough muscle that they seem firmer/more athletic.

My trouble spot used to by my core, and now after a year of lifting (with a couple breaks) I can always see my upper abs.

It is nice to read people's success stories. I work full body 3x a week, and have for 3 months. I see small changes, but it's nice to see some progress. My thighs have gotten larger- I think I've increased muscle mass in my legs, but I have the same fat layer on top so they have gotten larger. But, they look better...

Cutting out the TV :)
Watching TV alters the brain patterns making it difficult fall into to deep REM sleep, thus stopping your body from getting stuff done, to be basic. This causes low level stress to your systems and prevents weight /fat loss as you are not firing 100%.

Feel free to google the hormonal effect on fat loss. Poliquin and biosignature will be good places for you to start.

I was not alluding in anyway to calories not spent by sitting in front of a TV, I was answering a specific question on stubborn fat areas.

Umm, yeah, this is just crap. All of it.

Losing fat comes down to diet. Consistent dieting over a consistent amount of time.

It has nothing to do with watching tv or plastic containers or altered brain patterns or any of the junk you are spouting.

Id like to know where you got your "expericene and education". Sounds like from the back of those dumb magazine ads "send us 50 bucks and you too can be a new age guru".

Op and others with the same question just needs to be patient and stay on diet. The results come over time, there is no magic to it, no wonder hormone that will make it all magically disapear. Nothing but a good diet and time.

And I can tell you that not going into rem sleep does NOT prevent you from losing weight, otherwise i would be off the charts obese since I do not go into rem deep sleep, this was proven medically at the age of 5. So you are saying that my body doesnt "get stuff done". I would like to know which "stuff" you are talking about. Because my body gets plenty done including losing weight and gaining muscle.
You are just full of all kinds of crap.

Errrr. Sorry if I offended by calling your advice 'ridiculous' and 'absurd'. One should be more subtle, especially if this is something that you appear to believe in. Plus, placebos are also to be respected as are all kinds of other alternative gimmicky approaches to 'weight loss' that are crouched primarily in the mind :-) Now, onto your advice. If a person looking to lose fat asks for basic advice, telling them to cut back on their TV-time and avoid plastic 'like its the plague' while 'customizing' their diet and exercise in relation to where their bodies happen to accumulate the most fat..well..it sounds like a non-answer to me. My primary criticism to you is that your advice is based on overly simplistic explanations that are either based on pseudo-science, or on basically blown up unsubstantiated hyptheses that in any case, play a minor role in actually giving constructive advice to the person who asked for tips on 'losing fat' 'getting in shape' etc. I've read about bioprofiling and all this but, quite honestly, I find that keeping your diet and workouts in check leaves any bioprofiling "method" in the dust. Forget TV and plastic (as well as "plastic" theories), I say, and try to change your diet and workouts to get to where you want to be. Why get overly complicated on something so (comparatively at least) simple?

To the OP: congrats on the weight loss!! As you continue burning overall fat and gaining lean muscle, your thighs will also shed some fat. Give it time and just keep working hard and you'll get there, you don't have to bin your TV, say an eternal goodbye to coffee, sound-insulate your bedroom or start taking glass-bottles to the gym :-)

Peace.

My midsection is my problem area, although I have always been thin, I haven't quite gotten my abs as I would like, but am making progress. I was inspired my Tosca Reno's clean eat diet and once I incorporated this into my life I lost about 6 lbs and 4% bodyfat. I really found my energy level has even increased on the clean eat program. I enjoy running, (my big stress reliever), and this has really helped me in toning down my bodyfat by burning my calories. I'm a work in progress but I'm very motivated to reach my goals. Good luck to everyone on your quest!!

Mine are my belly and upper arms. The skin there is slowly improving and tightening up even without losing any more body fat so it looks smoother and not so flabby.

There seems to be this invitation for modders to add zones and NPCs to the town map All around town there are unused areas, like the graveyard and such Do you guys see the potential?

My problem area is my outer-thigh/glute area. I'm doing my best to blast them with lunges, squats, kickbacks, cardio and clean eating, but I definitely see room for further improvement!

Back of thighs...inner thighs...and stomach. Since turning 40 stomach fat seems quite hard to get rid of and more than easy to acquire.
