FML i just bought a comp off this guy the other day. It worked absolutely fine until this morn. I restarted comp to install a new windows update. When i did i couldnt use the mouse or keyboard. The internet wasnt connecting to the comp. Everything was working fine 3 mins prior. When I restart the comp and go to the F2 F6 F12 stuff the keyboard works. But when I get to my main windows page it doesnt.

Have you tried plugging your mouse and keyboard into a different usb slot? If you use ps/2, try using a different mouse or keyboard. I doubt it will be that, but you can try. You might wanna try a system restore. Can you get into Safe mode?

yea you can plug usb into different slots? You're using ps/2?

What OS are you using? So you can get into Bios without an issue and use keyboard there?

If you bought it from someone else, I would definitely do a reformat and clean Windows install. If you're having these kinds of issues, who knows what other software issues/conflicts exist. Will only take you 30 mins max and will save you a lot of trouble in the future working through random issues

Are you running Windows XP? Vista or 7? I also recommend a format. Should fix all your problems

are you sure that it is a restore disk with windows?

it might just be the motherboard drivers cd.

The pc was custom built so it isn't going to have an oem restore cd unless it is a cd of windows 7

Like people have said, reinstalling Windows is the best thing to do. It's a new computer for you. Who knows what junk is on it.

You mentioned your keyboard works before getting into Windows (works with the BIOS). That pretty much signals Windows as being the problem - Corrupt usb or ps/2 drivers. Happened to me not long ago because of a virus.

When I try to install or repair Windows 7 it says that the system recovery is not compatible with my version of Windows. I have Windows Ultimate.

The mousr and keyboard work fine in the Bios but when it goes to windows it stops working. When I do the diagnostic scan nothing comes up wrong. I hate my life :(

download this bro its an ISO for windows 7 home premium 64 bit, walk into any store that sells computers and copy the product key from any of them, then use that for activation, call Microsoft and they will ask u how many computers u installed that on and u just say 1, and they will activate it for you.

Edit: Didn't read your next post before I posted, but still, find a way to do this. You DO NOT want what someone else had on there, there could be countless things on there that could get you in trouble or take your information. Tryin' to help a brah'tha out.
