I've been working out for 8 months now. So I am relatively new at this.
I have had a lot of gains in muscle mass and strength but of course with that I haven't lost a lot of fat.
Now I want to lose the weight and fat.
My thought when I started working out was to gain the muscle and then lose weight. I read somewhere that muscle uses fat as an energy source. So I thought the more muscle I have the more it will be easier to lose the fat.
How do I go about keeping the muscle mass I have while losing the fat?

I suggest that you adjust your diet by reducing your calorie intake by no more that 250-500 calories, taking those calories from you fats and carbs. Also, add an additional cardio work out or 2, if you can handle it, a week. If you discover that you are loosing muscle add more protein to your diet.

i'd also recommend more cardio and reducing carb intake. The most effective way to lose fat is by doing HIIT. If you do cardio in the morning on an empty stomach this is even more effective, just be sure to take some BCAAs like Xtend before so that you don't lose muscle.
