I remember reading something a while ago on people who use creatine in contest prep and also some people who load creatine before there comp, so they come in looking there best muscles more fuller.
Any info on this?

Creatine causes water retention INSIDE the muscle cell not subcutaneously.

I have heard this before but i always thought creatine gave the soft look due to water under skin. Any more info on this?

like said above, creatine works by drawing more water into the muscle cell, thus giving it more energy, so anyone who says creatine will make you fat doesn't know what they r talking about
read the creatine article that tony posted on simply shredded that layne wrote, pretty good source

currently experimenting with zero supplements, no creatine/glutamine/whey/fatburners
not used anything except whole foods in over 6 weeks now. look better than ever and my skin feelspaper thin, it probably has zero to do with the supps but i am going to try going into a show with a full supplement program including BCAA'S, glutamine and creatine and see if it makes a difference.
qualified for the british NPA finals and won best first timer trophy at my last comp so i did not waste away lol
often think people over do the supps. eating perfectly and weighing and logging everything can in some cases be a better way to spend your time as opposed to relying on thermogenics etc

Does creatine cause excess water to be held under the skin though?

I used it all during my prep and got "best conditioned" out of over a 100 athletes yesterday at my show. I include it in all the people I work withs contest prep, and think its a big mistake not using it. Don't load it the final week or something stupid, but keeping it in post workout is a fantastic idea IMO.

I have always showed up and judges stated as the most ripped guy at every show!!! I use creatine all through prep and 10g on show day. Take what you want from that or believe all the bro's in the gym that are fat and are looking for an excuse as to why they're fat.
