"Best" is always tough to cover! The routine depends greatly on you physical conditioning, if you are not typicly active and just starting I wouldn't advise a 5 mile run. Generally, doing cardio for 20-30 minutes a day 4-6 times a week is suffient. Cardio, for me, gets boring quick so to keep going I mix it up a lot. I try to do a 15-20 minute HIIT program 3 times a week and a moderate pace workout for 40-60 minutes 3 times a week. Some weeks I get in more sometimes less and I'll use different equipment or just walk. It doesn't matter which piece of equipment you use and don't leave out walking and running as they are viable options too.

Plyometrics would be a good additive to keep things interesting.

I'll do HIIT because like you, I can't stand doing cardio for 35-40 minutes. I'll do 5/6 cycles of my HIIT on my treadmil. It leans you out and burns fat quick.

Look up Insanity. Thats what I started doing this summer. Great cardio/interval workout. Ive since switched to doing treadmill/elliptical for all my cardio because I cant find a place to do Insanity.

this is all im doing
workout 3-4x a week when possible or if possible 2 days on one day off .
15 min treadmill and then 5-10 mins elliptical, or you can do 10 mins of each
shouldnt need more cardio forms than those two machines that are a staple .

Unfortunately you cannot solely target "tummy fat" through any means. Weight loss occurs throughout the entire body, including visceral fat (the fat around your organs) and subcutaneous adipose tissue. Best way to go about this is through a dietary intervention program (caloric deficit), cardiorespiratory exercise, and resistance training.

P90X Plyometrics is a good way to do a predetermined cardio workout. I usually do my own thing.
I do:
8-Count Pushup for 2 minutes
Half-Jacks for 2 minutes
High Jumper for 1 minute
I do this 5 times.
These are military adopted exercises that can be found online. It's a great workout.

This ^^
Those two machines are the bread and butter for cardio.
I do quick 20 minute HIIT programs on lifting days (after lifting to maximize fat oxidation). Then I do 30 or 40 minute "hill climb" programs on non-lifting days on the elliptical. The HIIT will increase your endurance and your hillclimbs will get progressively stronger.

plyometrics is more like jump training it's alil hard on the knees if your a really heavy person other wise great workout in a short amount of time....HIIT is short for High Intense Interval Training which basically means doing any type of workout at a moderate pace and then switching it up to a higher pace for a short amount of time.example power walk halfway down a city bock and sprint the other half when you get to the corner go back into a power walk halfway and so on.
