Idk why Apple keeps negating jailbreaks expecially after the FCC ruled that it isn't illegal. ****ing commies.

yea seriously, and hackers always find a way, so apple justs wastes their time and peoples time even tho its still gunna happen

because jailbreaking allows piracy of appstore apps. they're trying to protect their product and what's in best interest of the iphone app developers.
one of the jailbreak devs said that the estimate for the jailbreak is "several weeks." which means it could be today, or it could be in november when 4.2 is out. either way, the jailbreak that they found can open up any idevice including ipad, ipod touch 4th gen, and apple tv 2, and there's no way apple will be able to patch it without modifying its hardware.

Which they DID do with the new bootrom 3GS, so I don't know why everybody keeps calling this a 'forever' jailbreak...
Anyway, it should be out this week, but I really don't trust anything the chronic dev team says anymore...

ive got the jailbreak (feel sorry for you 4.1 guys) but i cant wait for Dtunes to be updated for the 4.0 OS
im sick of using torrents to download albums *sigh*

the fact that they have held out for so long tells me they are probably waiting for 4.2 to be released. whenever they jailbreak it, apple fixes the "loophole" that allowed for the jailbreak in the next update.
so rather than having to do it all again, they are probably waiting. specially since 4.1 didnt add anything really worthwhile to make people want to upgrade.

it's "forever" for all the idevices being sold today. if there's a revision put out by apple tomorrow, then those wouldn't apply. when they release 4.2 it will be jailbroken using the same jailbreak method used in 4.1 shatter jailbreak.
