So I'm going to do Starting Strength soon, and my goals are to get bigger, stronger and faster while also maintaining my endurance.
I want to know how I can add a speed training day so my strength and size gains won't get hurt? I'll eat back the calories that I'll burn.

My weekly schedule will look like this:
Day 1: Starting Strength
Day 2: ??
Day 3: Starting Strength
Day 4:??
Day 5:Starting Strength
Day 6:??
Day 7: Mountain Biking for 1.5-2hours first thing in the morning with many up hills.

I want to know if you have any idea on when should I add one speed training day.
And also I'd like a speed training routine if possible and also please include resting time.

One more question, assuming I'll do all of it, and also add one speed training day (sprints) will my speed increase significantly?

Thanks in advance

First off you should take a day to let your body rest, and try plyometrics. They give you that explosiveness that speed begins with.

do speed work/plyo before weights and you will be fine. This is the most effective way and athletes from high school to world class ahtletes follow this template. u need to watch the volume/intensity though at 14.

Well, how do I add plyo on Starting Strength? I can't do plyo before weights because In squat heavy each session. I might be able to do in Wednesday which is a day off.

Tomshv: YOur 14 years old, stick with starting stregth for 1 year, then start adding things like plyos and speed training. Your body dosn't have enough training to effectivly do both right now any way.

U might be able to lift more if u properly implement the volume of plyo as they help u fire your Cns
Each person is going to be different depending on training exp and level of fitness

if ur thinking of wat to put in your spped day incorporate some 20, 40 and 60 yard dashes, and definately add some plyos as they increase your speed and vertical jump aswell.

Can I do speed training on days off? I wanted to add 2 days off where I'll do speed training, I was wondering if you think my legs will be able to stand that.

This is what I wanted to do:
up hill sprinting about 10 times for 15-30 seconds, with 2-1 minutes rest in between.

If your diong starting stregth correclty you will only hurt your trainng progress. Your body is to young and inxperanced at traing to do a program like starting stergth and plyos and speed training. Remiber your body heals and grows when at rest.
