Sick work + write up! Must be starting to get cold down there in the ACT?
Sorry if i missed it but do you do pullup's as well or generally stick to pull down's / row's etc like in this workout.

I decided to do pulldowns a little differently today. Recently I've been using the fixed machine because I can feel it so much better in my lats, but this time I opted for the traditional pulldowns but with my back facing the stack. I've seen a few articles on this and was skeptical and first, but damn, this sh*t hurts. You pretty much take all momentum out of the movement and all the emphasis goes straight to the lats. No swinging, no hunching, just good old fashioned pullin'.
I got these from Animal's log. Absolutely killer. Definitely staple nowadays.

x2 I got to experience this first hand with Kurt at the Arnold try training with him and Brian Whitacre you will be in shambles! They were doing them with individual handles instead of the lat pulldown bar for greater stretch/MMC. Putting in work and blasting some solid tunes Kyle.

Great stuff man, that arm pic makes me want to rethink my training because i do twice as much weight on most arm exercise as you yet you still have excellent development. Form choices i guess.

At my old gym i always used the smaller plates for T-bar rows as it allowed for a bigger ROM but all the 10s/20s at my new gym are the same size circumference and just thinner or thicker depending on the weight.
Killing it in here man, seeing motivation and drive from someone your age is an inspiration to the rest of us!

Yeah man, it's been about ranging from -5 to -7 pretty much most mornings. Lately it's not too bad though because we've had a bit of rain.
I always stick to pulldowns and rows. Not because I don't like pullups, but because with the way I train I honestly wouldn't be able to do them well enough to get adequate stimulation. My first set would be fine, but then after that I'd only be able to get out a couple of reps at a time with good form so it would be pretty much pointless haha

I think it will definitely be something I do regularly on my back days now, it felt really good. Thanks as always Bob!

Just depends on your goals man. You're more strength oriented than I am so I couldn't care less how much I lift so long as it does something for me. I do my arm stuff really strict as well though so my weight is pretty limited. All relative bro.
Your overview write-ups are awesome.
Don't be afraid to let those fingers do their thing! Ha.
Haha thanks man. Wait until I start getting real deep into my prep in a couple of months...I expect there will be a lot more swearing and crying lol

Thanks heaps mate! That sucks about your weights man, my 10's are at least half the size of the 20's. Only problem is we don't have a close grip attachment that I can use properly...they 2 grips are joined together with stupid cross bars so it's more like a triangular prism rather than a V shape if that makes sense...so I have to use a rope :(
wow looks like youre doing great work there and youre really dedicated!

Cheers bro, thanks for dropping in!
Manlet is like a piglet I guess. Not big enough to be a full pig, but runs around at half the size of everything else chewing their ankles and stealing their scraps...kinda...
I think it's anyone under 5'7 lol
Deads 200kg x 8 x 3 = awesome!!!

It's easy as hell to pull big weight using the trap bar man, give it a go if you have one! I don't think my convential deads will get up to that for a loooooooooong time haha.

Overview
NEAARRLLLYYYYY DONE! Had my second last exam this morning for genetics which I feel went really well. Statistics on Friday then I'm FINISHED for the semester :)
Anywho, I was up all night cramming my brain so I didn't get to the gym until after my exam. I don't like not training in the morning, it's weird now. There's something humbling about getting home after busting your ass, and the rest of the world hasn't even started their day.
Started off with DB bench. PR first set for reps...as expected. My next couple of sets were nothing impressive, so I was pretty dissappointed. Now it's your time to rise. Last 2 sets, I'm going 'til I drop. 2 more easy PR's. After this I lay down for my first of incline benching. No cheating here son, hold that bar down low, get rid of the momentum, then power up! You best believe I'm not backing down. Make it hard, make it rough, and watch me endure. I treat my benching like my women.
No time for resting, I've gotta keep it moving. I rushed over to do some cable flys. First set, upped my weight and my reps...wuts goin on here? Drop it down? Hell no. You've done it once, now do it again. I got 8 reps on my second set and felt good. Looked in my log book and realized it was the same as last week...what the f*ck are you doing?! Pick it up motherfuxer. Same weight again, no backing out. PR for my 3rd set. 20 seconds to catch my breathe and then it was time to do it all again. I needed 9 reps for a PR...don't stop at what you need, stop when you can't go any further. Never set a limit on what you're about to do. Time to get it rolling. I got 8 reps, and the next was a struggle. I lowered the weight to get the biggest stretch I could then pulled together as hard as possible, squeezing every fibre in my chest. 1 rep down...you got one more. Full stretch down again, PAUSE at the bottom, then pull...pull...pull. Yeah it took a little while, but so what. At the end of the day, I can look back and say dayumn, that was the one that made the change.
Seated hamstring curls were piss easy. 3 sets, 3 PR's. Damn...better kill it on these SLDL's. PR on my first set...come at me hamstrings. I kept the same weight then repped out again, no record this time. Right now, my whole posterior chain was on fire. We all know what happens when my pain sets in...I make it f*cking count. You'll never know your potential if you don't test it. We goin' up in weight cuz. Picked up the 48kg DB's and repped out, same reps as with the 46's. Loooooooongg slow stretch, all the way down. None of this "just passed the knee" crap. Go until your shins bleed, then get a little lower. This sh*t was goooooood. 50kg DB's next week fo' sure!
After some single leg curls I stumbled on to the elliptical to do my cardio. Believe me when I say it...cardio today was rough. To make it worse, after 20 minutes I got a huge stitch in my side. I thought of giving up right there, but then I thought to myself...if you quit now, someone else can take the reigns. Don't be defeated because you couldn't take it. The following 20 minutes were spent gasping for air and holding my side, but I did it nonetheless.

Looking great - can't believe your condition at 16 weeks - about 9% bodyfat max and carrying a huge amount of muscle.
Arms have improved out of sight and your quads and hammies are huge. Upper chest is still a problem, but I didn't realize until now that you have a very wide rib-cage, which is good news physique-wise, but will take a little more filling than average to visually balance everything else.
Great job Kyle, and I'd still have sworn that you were 170 instead of under 150!

hahah if he saw these he'd be mirin' fo sure.

To be honest...no. It's phucked. I have to buy like 34-36's to get them over my legs, but then I need to wear a super tight belt and the legs drag like 5 inches across the ground because my legs are so short. When I buy 28's, they fit my waist perfectly but they pretty much cut off any circulation in my lower body. I can't even fit sh*t in my pockets they're that tight.
Don't even get me started on straight legs. Can't get them over my knees. Whenever I'm trying on jeans, sales chicks are always like wtf.

Thanks mate, I've been really working my hammies hard to try and bring them up to par with my quads. Chest is just gonna take time, I'm in it for the long haul though so it doesn't bother me :)
Totally agree with the rib cage, it annoys me so much because it just looks weird from the front. I didn't know it was a good thing though...thought it was sh*t because when I vaccuum my ribs stick out more than my lats lol

I'll keep this one short and sweet because I've got one more exam left tomorrow morning then this semester is OVER! Better get to some final cram studying, but just know that this session was phucking ridiculous. I really didn't feel like lifting at all but I just forced myself into it. I don't know how I managed to get those PR's on the ATG squats...my face literally went purple and it felt like I was having a stroke on that last set of widowmakers...didnotfeelgoodman.jpg
The gym was fairly crowded because I had to train after I finished work, so I turned a fair few heads when people saw some platinum blonde midget collapse on the ground then get up talking to himself, eyes rolled back into his head and unable to walk in a straight line lol
Since tomorrow is my last exam, ya'll know what that means...FULL BLOWN PREP MODE ENGAGE MUFUKKAAAA! :D Time to get freaky phucking lean!

I much prefer doing them single legged too man. Not only does it let me focus a lot more on what muscles I'm actually hitting, but it doesn't take me 10 minutes to load up the phucking machine with a billion plates lol

Thanks mate. I used to press 40's and 45's but then I started doing paused benching and that finally sparked a bit of growth. I could never feel anything before that, so hopefully I can get the weight up to what it used to be but doing it a lot stricter.

Overview
So we arrived in Sydney last night and the first thing on the agenda was to check out this damn gym! This was a pretty cool session, I don't have much time to go into detail because I have a presentation to give in a few hours, but my boss and I had the priviledge of being the very first people to train in this new franchise called Fit n Fast. Definitely something I can mark off my bucket list...taking a gym's virginity. :D
It's a pretty cool place, all the equipment is brand spankin' new and really top quality. Not particularly my kind of thing (I prefer old rusty hardcore sh*t where you have more chance of getting tetanus than air conditioning) but it was still a nice place. I took my boss through a workout at my pace...he hasn't stopped complaining for the past 2 hours. Cardio has been increased to 45 minutes a session now as well, which was hell easy today. It was great, I was pushing him through the weights and he pushed me through the cardio (he's a triathlete).
I'll be back to my normal logging shortly when I get home tonight. Hope ya'll have had a sick weekend. Remember, wherever you are and whatever you're doing...there's never an excuse to not be giving your all!

Dude seriously, WAAYYYY too many names to mention. TyDi is definitely my favourite, but I frequently listen to Armin Van Buuren, Reminder, Pulser, Tiesto, Above and Beyond, Ferry Corsten etc...

Hey Steve, thanks a TON bro! Those comments really mean a lot to me. To be completely honest though I really don't like to think that way...I know that there a ton of guys out there better than me, I just dont know about them. I never like to look at myself as "the top" because I know there will ALWAYS be someone just that little bit higher. If I ever start to think of myself as "the best" then I'll have nothing to aim for. For some guys it works, but for me I do this because I like the feeling of never being satisfied or complete. Constantly striving for perfection is what I love to do, but never getting there is what keeps me going.
totally agree with scooter man, you have seriously put on some quality mass this offseason kyle. Overall you are so much thicker than when you started prep last time, it is going to be a scary road to see the changes you make.
Hey man, good to hear from you again! Thanks a ton, my boss actually pointed it out to me the other day because he came across some old photos from when I first met him (which was just before my first show last year.) It's really weird...I know I've changed, but I feel EXACTLY the same as I did when I think back to last year. Despite the fact that this time I'm eating double yet twice as lean LOL.

Overview
I'M HOMEEEEEEEE! Got back last night, it was a great weekend away and now I'm hell motivated. I won't lie, I was starting to lose it a little bit this past week with everything coming on at once, but hey....perseverance is what makes enables us to grow.
It felt weird not having to get up to go uni today and I didn't start work until 12pm, yet when 4am rolled around I leaped out of bed and was ready to destroy my back. I'm sick of feeling like my lats are holding me back, so it's time to destroy these motherfarkers! :D
Headed to the gym and started doing pulldowns with my back against the stack...a new staple. PR first set, as expected. Recently I've been so focused on progressing in my lifts that my form as been slipping a little. It's nothing crazy, but I love being hell strict with my execution...so I pulled myself back into line today. If you're gonna do it, do it properly, or don't do it at all.
Moved on to T-Bar rows with the small plates. Each rep I restored my focus on getting on insane stretch, then exploding the bar up, trying to pull my lats off my spine. No two ways about it, watch me get this sh*t done! I got to my 3rd set and was going to drop it down...I DON'T THINK SOOOOO. Not today, not now, not ever. If that weight is gonna change, the only way to go is UPPP! So, that's what went down. Perfect form, perfect PR, perfect set.
Dumbbell rows. Right now it was animal mode. My back was cramping and lifting my arms was taking some effort. Now it gets real. Didn't even look what I did last time, I just glanced at the weight and thought "yeah, you look good, let's do this sh*t". No holding back, I thought about driving my elbow back as hard as possible. I nearly bruised my hip by ripping the damn thing up. I can't even explain it, these sets were intense. One rep after another, I wasn't slowing down. Give up or give in...no matter what, it's your decision.
After some close grip pulldowns all that was left to do was deadlifts. By now, I could feel my lats pulsing with every breathe. The last time I did convential deads I was severely dissappointed...that WON'T be happening again. Leave the past behind, build your new future. I'll be doing deadlifts at the end of my session from now on just to reduce the risk of injury while I'm prepping, but that sure as hell doesn't mean I'll be taking them lightly. I did a couple of warm up sets...felt good. I'm ready bro, whatchu got?
I'll show you what I've got...160kg worth of deadlifts after 16 sets to failure on 4 other exercises. Got 4 last time...what a phucking pathetic JOKE. I ripped the bar off the ground and started repping out. The first 4 were easy...don't slow down. Pulled another 2, paused, then a final one to make it 7. Next set...drop it down? Yeah sure...might as well buy a box of tampons to go with that too. Don't get it twisted...same weight, 6 reps. I stripped off 20kg and then went straight back into it, busting out another 6. After this set I dropped to the ground and watched as my sweat hit the floor. Think of what you've done. Everything leads up to this point, don't let it go to waste. I'm getting 8 reps. I started and pulled an easy 5...then one more. I paused at the top and got another...one more, that's all it takes. Prove it to yourself. The rest was history.
Cardio was actually really simple today. I barely even got out of breathe, nor did I listen to any music at all. Literally lost in my thoughts...it was nice. Everyone can push their body, but only few can challenge their mind.

Oh man you know it! AVB was insane when I saw him earlier in the year, Tiesto was sick too but not as good. Ferry Corsten was actually amazing as well, I saw him last year and I don't know if it was the pills or the music but f*ck it was incredible.
wut?
Deadmau5 is by far the best that I've seen live though. His sets are just ridiculous...never seen a light show like that before!

Cheers Billy! I'm actually loving my cardio, it takes me back to my days of distance running. Last year I didn't even start doing cardio until 8 weeks out and even then it was like twice a week for 30 minutes...this year I started at like 40 weeks out LOL.
Always fun training in different gyms - it's nice to try different pieces of equipment, although I always regress to free weights!
Good luck with the exams - what course are you studying?
Haha yeah I'm the same. I love trying out new things if I think they have a purpose but still always base my routines around free weights. I'll never tell someone to ONLY stick to one or the other though...I think everything has it's place, and if you can feel your target muscles working on a machine as opposed to its free weight equivalent, then by all means go for it...we're all different, that's what I love about this sport.
sup man, you definitely have been making some dramatic improvements. i always check your log because if offers vital information and motivation and shows just how much you can do with sheer determination. you have made dramatic changes especially with your chest man. i know how hard it is to stay on track and make those improvements which you have worked to gain so i commend you my friend.
Thanks bro, as always I'm so glad that I can motivate people just by doing what I enjoy. You're definitely right with how hard it is to stay on track, just gotta want those improvements more than anything! I really leave alot of it up to faith...I try not to overthink what I'm doing, but rather just do it consistently holding a belief that eventually it will all work out. Whether it does or not doesn't bother me, because at least that way I know I tried.

Overview
For the first time in months, I literally had NOTHING to do today...I had no idea what to do with my time! fapfapfap.
...Anyways, hit the weights pretty damn hard today but had a few issues. First set came around and I saw I had 12 reps last time...sh*ts getting too light, time to bump it up. Same amount of reps, heavier weight...yeah you know it. Drop it down? I don't think so. I lay straight back down on that bench and started repping out again. Nice and slow eccentric, touch my chest and pause at the bottom...don't get it twisted, this is stop and go!
During my 4th set, I had a sudden onset of stabbing pain just behind my right ear. I don't know what it was, but it turned into a throbbing headache. From that moment on, the rest of my workout consisted of "listen to your body and hold back...no f*ck it, push through...no wait, it could be serious...whatever you only live once." I was seriously torn on what to do and what to make of it, so I slowed down my pace a little and just went by feel. Hit a few more PR's, but then it would come back during a few sets.
I was going to call it quits and do my cardio by the time I was ready to do hamstrings, but I'm way too stubborn. Don't try this at home, but....if I'm going to do something, you best believe I'll be giving it my all. I'm not coming in here to waste my time. Started doing my SLDL's. To add to the fun I grabbed a step and did them with a deficit. Nothing else matters, just keep pushing. PR for my last set buddyyyy.
Surprisingly, those headaches didn't come back for the rest of my workout. There was still a slight, dull feeling, but the stabbing and throbbing pain subsided. If it continues, I'll jump straight on it and go see someone, but if not then I'm not going to anticipate anything. It could be a long term thing or it could have been a once off...as far as I'm concerned it's just like anything...if you don't take the risk, you'll never know.

Haha yeah man it's weird! I do 6 sessions a week now for 45 minutes a session and it's hell easy for me. I used to only do 2 sessions a week if I was lucky, but Alex knocked some sense into me and had me doing cardio 5x a week for 30 minutes from 35 weeks out lol

Haha permission granted mate!
I don't do military presses with a barbell anymore, they flare up my shoulder too much so I do seated DB presses and don't lock out. I don't go straight up and down either, but rather I bring my arms up and in like a circle while keeping my elbows slightly bent.
I think if you were doing a BB military press for strength though you should lock out. That's just if you are looking at strength though, I'm not too sure if the constant tension will make much of a difference (though it makes it a ton harder). I learnt to do military presses to mimic the final phase of a clean and jerk, so in that way you have to lockout or the lift won't count. Purely individual though.

Haha I love it, but that's probably because I walk like a pidgeon on stilts so it feels like a natural movement for me. Put me on a bike for 5 minutes though and my lower body will scream "wtf are you doing?!" lol

Will do mate, thanks. I'm about to head to the gym right now, so I'll monitor it really carefully and if I have any symptoms flare up I'll take some time out and go get it looked at. I'd much rather jump on it now and get it seen to if it's something serious than keep pushing on for another few weeks then end up having to can my whole prep.

Overview
Don't let the PR's fool you, this workout was a heap of sh*t. First set of dumbbell presses and after my 3rd rep I had a sudden onset of a headache. This stayed with me throughout the whole workout, and got progressively worse. When I say headache, I don't mean a slight unpleasant feeling either...I mean a constant, painful throbbing sensation which is almost unbearable. I can usually tolerate a lot of pain, but this is something that seriously causes me to squint and stumble. I lightened up a little to really focus on what I was doing which helped a bit, but it was still lingering.
As you can probably guess, when I got up to shrugs I was pissed. Something clicked in my head where I just thought "You know what? F*ck this. If I'm going down, then at least I'm putting up a fight." I upped the weight to 48kg DB's after my first set for another PR. Next set came and I got 10 reps again...then gritted my teeth and squeezed out another. I looked at the dumbbell rack and just thought "screw it." You've got one more chance, one more shot...take it however you want and do so as you please, but don't leave this place feeling defeated. I picked up the 50kg dumbbells for the first time ever and started repping out.
After doing my abs I hit up my cardio and had a long think about what I'm doing and how much this means to me. I can honestly say that at this point in my life, my participation in this next show is my highest priority. I've got too many people behind me, and too much to prove to myself...I can't afford to let it all go away. This means more than anything to me right now, and there is no way that anything can stop me from doing what I'm going to do. I've worked too long and hard for the past 18 months to slip up. Anything that gets in my way is just another obstacle to overcome. I honestly don't care what happens, if I have to push through this sh*t for another 22 weeks when my season is over then I'll do it, regardless of any long term problems I may cause myself. I know it might not be the healthiest attitude, but it's my passion, I'm so fortunate to be able to do what I do and to have the support of my friends, family, co-workers, sponsors, and people I've never even met.
So...with that decision made, I went to the doctor right after my session and am now awaiting the results of a CT scan. There's too many options of things that it could be, so he just wants to rule out the possibility of anything too serious. I'll find out the results tomorrow, but until then let it be known...nothing is going to break my stride. Not now, not ever.

Hey Kyle in regards to your headaches you're having, do you take any kind of N.O. products pre-workout? Overview
Not too much to report on today's workout, I just took everything by feel. I got the results back from my CT scan and there's nothing serious, so I was really happy about that. My doctor told me it was most likely a result of a constant tension on my greater occipital nerve, and the best way to treat it is to just keep it moving and try to loosen it up through massage etc. Apparently it's really common among people who train hard, but resting it is actually not a good idea. He told me to take a couple of days off if I need to, but the best thing to do is try alter the movements that I do to lessen the tension on my neck/upper traps until it fixes itself up.
So naturally after all this, I hit legs.
I kept mindful of what I was doing and didn't try to beat the log book at all this time, I just wanted to see how hard I could train without flaring anything up. If I was to rate my workouts on intensity, this was probably an 8/10 as opposed to the usual 15/10. I took it carefully, but wasn't in there to just get a feel good pump. I tried low bar squats for the first time and although they felt weird, I didn't get any pressure on my neck at all and surprise surprise...no headaches. Low bar or not, I still wasn't going for the 20 rep sets...I know how much this takes out of me, and I can guarantee that it would have only made things worse. I hadn't had any problems so far so I wasn't going to change that.
I kept the rest of my workout pretty intense. Kept the pace up, but was just mindful of what I was doing. Apart from my squats, I still took each set til failure and didn't have a problem. I even had a "f*ck it, don't waste your time" moment again and hit a PR on my front squats by 10kg.
Despite not going my hardest, I was pleased with my efforts still. I left the gym feeling totally wrecked nonetheless. My goal of this workout was just to see what (or if) I could do within my safety realm, which I achieved. I'll continue to do this for the next few days until I'm sure that the headaches won't return. Today proved that I can still go hard and push myself if I take the right precautions, so as I've said all along...nothing's going to slow me down or hold me back.

Haha I never thought about it like that, and here I was thinking I held back...oh well :p
Mate as soon I step in the gym something just clicks in me. I don't know what it is, and it doesn't matter whether I'm tired, sick, high or hungover...the moment I walk through the door my mind is just totally focused on what's about to come for the next 2 hours. Sure it's taken me a lot of work physically to build up my endurance, but I still get just as tired as anyone else. The difference is though that when I get tired and worn out, I work harder lol

Hey thanks J! I actually read over my last few posts and it motivated me too LOL.
My butt hurts just sitting here typing this, so I'm hoping your legs day will do the same! Take it easy with that back bro, but 'training hard and 'training smart' don't have to be mutually exclusive! :D
Lmfao greatest pick up line "C'mon baby, my life may hang in the balance". It sounds like an exertion headache, a bunch of people in the Strength Crew thread have had them.
Hahaha I'm going out next week, might see how it goes just for the lulz. The first reaction I'll get will probably be "...wtf is with your hair?"
Yeah my doctor said it was fairly common among people that do a lot of maximum effort work consistently. I found it interesting that he said to just alter my movements though instead of resting completely. What sort of things have those guys been doing to get rid of them?

Again, I didn't really log anything for this workout as I'm still playing it by feel. I really smashed the hell out of my benching, paused at the bottom for 3 seconds...totally taking out all momentum. No headaches again this workout, but I still didn't want to risk anything so I tried to make my form super strict and not tense the hell out of my neck (which is pretty hard when benching). Overall though, I'm happy with how this is coming along. My intensity isn't affected, I'm still able to go until past the point of failure, but I don't want to sacrifice my health for the sake of beating the log book. I'll be giving it two more workouts like this and then try taking it back to normal, so far so good. I'm still able to give it my all, but I just have to be careful since any SLIGHT movement in the wrong direction can really flare this up like crazy. I'm just hoping I've jumped on this soon enough so it won't effect me again deeper in my prep.

Yepppp cardio is being bumped up again, brb catabolizmz. Found it easy this morning. The first 25 minutes are pretty rough but after that it's actually so easy. I don't even listen to music anymore, I just close my eyes and think to myself about various things. What I was, what I've become, what I'm going to be, the people that have helped me, the things I've taken for granted, and all other little things in life. It's pretty sad, sometimes my mind is my best friend lol
I had my first little brain fog moment last night, totally forgetting where I put my keys, spilt boiling water all over the bench instead of in my coffee mug and then losing the paper towels as son as I took them out of the cupboard lol. I've missed these moments! :D

Yeah he's a great guy. He knows that if he told me to take a week off I wouldn't do it anyway unless it was a life or death thing, which we proved it wasn't haha. I had glandular fever a couple of years ago and he was like "okay so to stay with, no more making out with whores." Since that moment, I won't see any other doctor lol

I've had 2 full training days + 1 cardio only day since seeing my doctor and they've calmed down a bit. Be really cautious of your form on any exercise that puts tension on your traps and DON'T put your chin down on any movement. Do some simple things like tilting your head from side to side and around in circles regularly to loosen up your neck. I've been rubbing tiger balm around the muscles on the back of my neck that lead up to just behind my ear too and that seems to help a ton man.

You know what? I'm actually glad I've been getting these killer headaches. I normally have pretty damn tight form, but on that last rep or so it sways a little. I went for one extra on my rope pushdowns and straight away my head starting pulsing. It was like a kick back into reality. If you're going to do this, you'll do it right, or I'll make you suffer.
After 4 sets I jumped on to overhead DB extensions. Love this exercise. I heaved up the weight and lowered it down until I could no longer see my forearms in the mirror. Don't get it twisted, I'll show you a full ROM...and then a little more. I pushed out 8 reps and didn't think twice. This is your private war; win or lose, it's still a fight.2 more reps with the most perfect form I think I've ever had. Think you can't get stronger while dieting? You just ain't trying hard enough.
You know that feeling when you havn't done a movement for a while, then you're suddenly itching to give it a crack again? I havn't done hammer curls in about a year...welcome back, now watch me bleed. First set, and the reps just seemed to come one after another. I remember this feeling...the pounding of dumbbells up to my shoulders, then the fibre tearing slow decent...I'm home.. No time to slow down now, you're 15 weeks away from the first checkpoint, make it count. You want big arms? You want to shine on stage? You want to prove to yourself and everyone else that the past 2 years of your life havn't been efforts lost in vain? Well pick up some heavier f*cking weights and get to work. Dis shiz felt guuuuddd.
Finished off with some lying cable curls which I'd never done before in my life...and I now know why. When you can look at your arms and see the fibres twitching through paper thin skin you know you're doing something right. Bring me blood, sweat and tears. Give me pain, and watch me march on.
I'm glad everything is getting back to normal. I'm still being mindful of every movement, but I'll never restrict my intensity. Break my stride? Break my heart? You gotta be dreamin'.

Overview
Kind of rushed with this one, at work right now so I can only make it quick. As you can probably see I've lightened up a bit on most of these. I had a chat with Alex about my headaches and what not and we agreed that 110% intensity can be reached without straining myself to the point of complete exhertion. Killing my body with perfect reps, holding the contraction, slow negatives and textbook form will produce the same results on my body as giving it a little swing and speed, which are the things that seem to cause my headaches. Regardless, this workout was phucking br00tall. No momentum in anything, dead stops and squeezes, long ass stretches...I was whiped with one of the most incredible pumps I've ever had in my lats and erectors. I animal zoned it as usual with the rack pulls. After getting 4 for my 3rd set I was pissed off. 6 or nothing next time or I've thrown my workout down the drain. Pulled 6...then one more, just for the hell of it.
Apologies for this rushed write-up. On a side note, what's the best way to get someone to pay you back relatively large sum of money that they owe you without having to smash kneecaps or kidnap children? Been trying to get a hold of this c*nt for 3 months now, and every time I do I just get another excuse or a false promise. I'm not a vengeful person, but I really don't know what to do. I'm out of pocket now because I went out of my way to help someone avoid losing their home, and they don't have the decency to pay back what's man. Some people are just phucked. Sorry for the rant.

Overview
Wowza. Pretty damn happy with today. I could go on and on forever about the amount of times during this workout that I saw stars and escaped to a different place. Almost every set took me out of my body, and made me visualise fibres that I didn't even know I had. This workout was ball busting, and cardio was rough. Again, I took this opportunity to still learn about what movements disagree with my head. To be honest, this is one of the hardest workouts I've had. Not because of a lack of physical energy, but mentally it was just grueling. Let me explain...
You may have noticed that to tie in with everything that's happened in the past week, I havn't been recording PR's. Why? Partly because it's unrealistic for me to increase my bicep curls each week or I'd soon be doing "100lb dumbbell curls...in yo' face", but also because right now...I don't care.
Take a seat class, it's time for a lesson. Having to be so in touch with my positioning during exercises lately to avoid my headaches flaring up has really made me learn something...as long as you're doing everything you can within any physical limitations, day in and day out, you WILL see results. Now, this is not to be taken lightly. Here's the trick. When I say "everything you can", I phucking mean it. There will be days along your journey that for whatever reason, you just can't perform physically the way you have in the past. It happens, we're all human. Do you take these days lightly and give up? F*ck no. Just because your body isn't peaking doesn't mean your mind can't. What's the solution then? Take every day, every opportunity, every moment; to give it your best shot regardless of the outcomes. Lay your heart on the line, no matter what. If you don't hit an extra rep or push more weight, so what? Progression should always be the focus, but the complexity of the human body denies us an ability to accurately predict it's responses.
Intensity doesn't mean shortening your rest breaks, doing supersets, drop sets, negatives or any of that. Those are all training variables, not "intensity boosters." Intense training is more then that. It's not about how much you sweat, or how much your body can take. It's the ability of your mind to continually push despite the pain. It's that feeling you get when determination is the only thing that keeps you going. Most importantly though, it's about putting your heart on the floor, and seeing how much it can handle.
Train hard, train smart. Ya'll better get ready, because I'm on a highway to success. Never been so focused, ain't no one going to match my drive.

Hahaha that's the reaction I get from most people :p To be perfectly honest though I'm one of the most gentle guys imagineable. Never been in a fight, never threatened someone, and I'd never go out of my way to make someones life miserable no matter what they've done to me. I dunno why, I just can't morally do it. Like yeah I'm a hardass when it comes to work ethic etc, but there's a difference between being constructively honest and just being a dick lol

Cheers man! Can you pinpoint when your headaches start coming on? Interestingly enough, I only get them on pressing movements. Flat bench, military press, incline press etc. Everything else is totally normal unless I throw my form out just a tad and then they flare up, so that's how I know its a neck/optic nerve thing. Try see what movements causes yours to flare up.
And yeah I'm at UC. Holidays are going well, but they'll be over way too soon haha. I'm only doing one class in winter term though so I'll only be at uni for 2 days a week. I think winter term is like only 7 weeks as well, so it'll be over real quick :)

Overview
I'm going to cut the crap and just get straight to it.
Don't know what it was today. Maybe something just clicked, or maybe I just woke up. Everything I did in this workout just felt...right. I decided to take a wider stance on squats today. Lets be honest, my quads are fine, but my hamstrings and glutes lack in comparison. If you put the focus solely on your strengths, your weaknesses become more noticeable. Don't just lift to improve what's already good, train to balance out what's lacking.
There's 3 squat racks in my gym, and 2 of them were being used for actual squats. I was impressed, and started loading up the bar on the one that was free. I couldn't help but notice the 2 other guys squatting...actually getting to parrallel. Sure they weren't pushing much weight, but it's the best form I've seen on other squatters in a long time. Much respect. Anywho, I started on my warm up sets. When the time came to start my working sets was when the switch flicked. I stared at the bar and closed my eyes. This is it. This is what you've came here for. Every decision you make in this building determines your future. When you open your eyes, another battle begins. 2 hours of hell, are you ready? 3...2...1...GET IT!
Started off with my first rep. It was deep, but not my kinda deep. Went down again, and made a point of staying the f*ck down. Nearly hit the safetys, and paused at the bottom before exploding up. No phucking momentum here. Dangerous or not, I don't care. Second set was the same. Third set rolled around and I hit 6. Is this how you want it to end? You all know me by now...2 more.
Widowmaker time...I've missed this. Headaches? None. Good to go baby! I don't think I've ever gone so deep on these in my life. My hammies and glutes actually gave way before my quads...holla! First set was relatively easy so I cut my rest break back. Yeah that's right...30 seconds and we're good to go. You can stand around "waiting for ATP to replenish", or you can ditch the tampon and get to work. I got 8 clean, then all of a sudden it got brutal. From rep #12, I was down to 1 at a time. If you rack the bar, you solidify your status as a failure. It doesn't matter if you fall, just keep going. Rep by rep, I squeezed the f*ck out of my glutes, hamstrings and quads and eventually made it to 20...then dropped.
I looked up and saw another guy struggling to walk up the stairs. We both looked at other, smiled and said "...phucking legs day." From this moment on, we kept glancing at each other during our sets. Seeing the pain on both our faces just made us both go just that little bit harder. Mutual respect and recognition without saying a word...nothing quite like it. After leg extensions and single leg presses, another switch flicked. I looked at the rack of fixed barbells...f*ck this, we're hitting the car park. I just felt like doing walking lunges. Maniacle as it may have been, I enjoyed this so much.
Moved on to front squats. Hit up 80kg for 8 and was feeling good. Normally my lower back gives way on these, but no problem today. Next set hit another 8. Went on to my last and had another eye closing moment. There's no need to escape anymore. This is my pain, this is my pleasure. You never know when this opportunity will be taken away. Cherish it, enjoy it, live it. No way in hell am I not getting 8 reps on this one.
Finished off with a bunch of calf raises as usual. I think these past few days of really getting to know and feel my exercises couldn't have helped any more. I didn't have a single problem, despite intermittent periods of stumbling and falling to the ground. I know ya'll love my legs day! :D

So for the next 5-7 weeks I'll be ultra busy. Picking up a couple of classes over the winter break and the way they do it at my university is by cramming a 20 week unit into 5 weeks...eek! On top of that, I've got some big research projects getting underway at work. I can't expose too much, (intellectual property garbage) but as I get deeper into it I'll be sure to release some more details. I'll say this much...if you're an endurance athlete, you're going to love what my boss and I are putting together.
All in all, excellent workout. Cardio has been bumped too to 55 minutes. Burning 800 calories post workout 6 days a week and not even mad cuz. Again, I gotta keep this brief since I'm actually typing this while at work, but I'll just say that those headaches were actually a godsend. My form has never been so perfect, and I literally had no momentum on any lifts. I'll have to video this sh*t sometime, but for now, this all I got...

Insane workouts and very motivating. During some workouts when I'm thinking of putting the weight down in between reps, I just think, his lifting more then me and he isn't giving up. That always helped me finished the sets out strong.

Overview
Ugh, this day started out rough. Went out last night for a mates bday and I didn't intend to stay out too late, but I had to keep in mind of what my focus is for this year. I'm going to prove that I can put my heart and soul into this prep, and not let other people suffer in the process like last year. It's my choice. No matter how tired or sore I am, I can't take my close friends (who are also some of my biggest supporters) for granted. You can always train, diet, sweat, bleed, whatever...and yes it does take up a massive portion of my life, but I'm not going to miss out on the little things that can be taken away so easily. Anywho, enough about life and balance and crap...long story short I found a chick, stayed the night at hers, set my alarm for 5am then got in my car and hit the gym. Thank god my car is like a supplement pantry...the boot is filled with protein :D
Enough of that story. I was understandbly tired when I got to the gym this morning but that left quickly. As soon as I picked up a bar, it was game on.
Started curling and I felt some headaches coming on. F*ck my life. I paused for a bit and tightened up every bit of my form and cut out all momentum and it was all good. I know a lot of people just do rep after rep and that's fine, but for the sake of injury prevention and an INSANE pump...I totally encourage you to try pausing all your reps. Slow negative > pause at the bottom for a 2 count > explosive contraction > pause at the top for a 2 count squeeze > repeat. You'll be surprised at how much just a little momentum is helping you push much bigger numbers. Cheat your form; cheat yourself. Use the muscle to lift the weight, not the motion.
I focused on a big MMC this workout and it phucking destroyed me. We all know hammer curls hit the brachioradialis...but does anyone actually feel that muscle working? Somehow, I managed to shut my eyes and isolate that sh*t. I'm becoming more and more a fan of the art of bodybuilding. How do you ensure perfect and equal development amont all bodyparts? By blasting the living **** out of each of them with equal amounts of fury.
That's all for today, I'm using up downloads at work so I better call it quits haha. Just finally, I want to give a big shoutout to Adam (OoFap) who is competing this weekend. This guy has one of the sickest physiques I've seen on a natty, and has an unsurpassable work ethic. Good luck bro!

what does kangaroo taste like? Anything like Elk or Deer? I'm assuming its really lean?
Can't really explain it man, it's like a really meaty tasting steak. It's kind of sweet compared to other red meat too, and a little bit gamey. It's the leanest thing you can get apart from tuna too, per 200g it has like 45g protein and 2g of fat...live off that stuff!
Geez how tired are you after workouts? Any reason you go for epliptical vs running?
Insane workouts and very motivating. During some workouts when I'm thinking of putting the weight down in between reps, I just think, his lifting more then me and he isn't giving up. That always helped me finished the sets out strong.
Hey bro! After my weights I'm totally wrecked, but I usually take about a 2 minute break to slam some BCAA's before jumping into my cardio. After my cardio it depends...I either feel like I'm going to die after 10 minutes then crawl off the machine after sticking it out, or I can plod along for an hour with ease. It really depends on how I'm feeling on the day. Usually after my longer weights sessions is when I really feel like death...like my chest/hamstring or back days.
As for the eliptical, I just like the feel of it over a treadmill, and cycling just doesn't sit right with me. I like to turn it into more of a leg workout too...each step I really focus on contracting my quads, glutes and hamstrings, trying to get a feel of each muscle in motion. Don't get me wrong, I love running, but when I go for runs I do it because I enjoy them. I don't enjoy anything about chilling on a treadmill for an hour, but for some reason I love being stationary on the eliptical lol
Glad I can help with your motivation too bro! That means a ton. I do the exact same thing...whenever it gets tough I always remember that there's someone out there pushing it harder than me, whether it's in the gym or struggling to survive in some far off village. Even if I'll never be able to do more then that person, my goal is to make sure I do everything that I personally can.
Arms, delts and traps looking good as always Kyle, but you are really starting to get some fullness across the whole chest as well. Good lower and outer pec mass, but the upper and inner pecs are filling out.

Thanks mate! If only I could walk around with a constant chest pump haha.
I'll definitely get a vid up of my squats. I've dropped the weight down considerably from like 4-6 weeks ago just to make sure I don't injure myself, but it's worked so well for me. I can really get the feel down perfect, form's never felt better!
Sucks about your gym. That's the main reason I train so early in the morning...no one hogging up my racks lol.
Chest is starting to get some serious mass bro. Looking really full on the front lat spread-ish

Thanks mate, gotta keep up with your hamstring and lat growth! :p
As for the proats...
- 1 cup of oats + 2 cups water
- microwave on low for 10 minutes
- add more water and stir
- microwave on low for 5 minutes
- add more water and 2 scoops of whey
- keep stirring like crazy (almost whipping) and adding water until the consistency becomes fairly runny
- microwave on high for 50 seconds
- add more water and stir until you get to a consistency you like
*i've never measured the amount of water I add, but I can seriously triple the volume of my oats doing it this way.

Overview
Hot dayumnnn I had a one way ticket to pump central today. I phucking love those reverse pulldowns. No momentum, no bullsh*t. Pulling down straight to my chest, squeezing that crap as hard as I could, then slowly letting it up again.
Feeling once I had the blood flowing I moved on to T-Bar rows. Loaded up 65kg with 10kg & 5kg plates, weights don't matter to me on this, it's about the feel. Touch and go style, I hit up my first set. Got 10 reps then busted out a final. Come my third set I was getting pretty phucking spent. No time to drop the weights down, I'mma do my best with what I got. 4 seconds down, pause at the bottom, then heaving that sh*t up and holding it. Anyone can throw their body into this, but I never see people controlling it. I hit out 6 reps...stopped, then threw my elbows back as hard as possible to get that final one. Just keep squeezing mufukkaaa. This rep took me about 10 seconds, but I got it.
After some other sh*t I went on to rack pulls. Hit up 160kg for 6 and just wasn't feeling it. Needed a slap in the face. You came here to do work. You only get one shot at this, and if you give up now then there's second chances. Yeah you're tired, yeah you're hurting, but so what? Leave no stone unturned, it's time to go balls out. Hit out 8 for my next set and was pretty happy. For my final 2 sets I didn't give myself any other options. Not dropping the weight, and not dropping the reps. I'm hitting it all, with everything I got. You want 6? Then get 8. You want to give anything less than your all? Then get the phuck out of the building and stop wasting your time. I can do this, step back and watch. You can guess how it ended.
Cardio was FARKING BR00T4L today. After 15 minutes I don't know how I lasted the rest. Honestly, the thing that gets me through is just realizing that it's not my body that's giving up, it's my mind. Your body can handle anything you throw at it, but your mind and your will is what determines when you slow down. Conquer your mind, control your thoughts, and you can push far beyond you can ever imagine.

hey, can u share a bit on yr training routine?...seems like a higher reps kind of style, which i tend to prefer...
Hey mate, I wrote out a full guideline of it here:
So people keep asking me what my current training split is since I havn't actually written it down anywhere so here you go. Hopefully this will show you how bullsh*t "overtraining" is and how cardio while you're trying to gain muscle won't hinder your results. Eat enough to make up for it and quit being lazy. Push yourself to do as much as you can every single time and you'll be surprised how far you can take your body. Don't buy in to popular belief that your body will burn out. It won't. You'll burn out mentally well before your body reaches that point. Train hard, train smart. Know your limits, then push them. It's taken me a long time to learn what I can and can't do and even now I'm still learning. You can never learn too much about your body.
*Notes: Every set is taken to failure. Rest breaks between sets and exercises are around 20-30 seconds. To see the exercises I do each workout, check back in the log for the corresponding day. Each workout has the same exercises but I change the order each week and always aim to progress on every single movement.
Sunday
- Back/Abs + Cardio
Monday
- Cardio
Tuesday
- Chest/Hamstrings + Cardio
Wednesday
- Shoulders/Abs + Cardio
Thursday
- Legs (quad focus)/Calfs + Cardio
Friday
- Chest + Cardio
Saturday
- Arms + Cardio
Cardio - 35 minutes @ ~145 minutes, 450-500cals.
As for my rep ranges, I prefer to keep them between 8-12. I used to do lower rep stuff especially on squats and deads but now I only do that sporadically when I'm totally feeling up to it. I find it much more stressful doing higher rep work, it takes so much more out of me and I can really focus on feeling the movement. I'm big on mind-muscle connection, and it's hard to establish that kind of connection when you're only doing a few reps.
Damn Kyle, epic eats, lifting and crazy lookin physique in here! Delts are sick, I'm jelly man. Oh and can't have a solid training session without some Armin ASOT. :D

I had one of these Endura gel packs along with my shake (I have about 30 of the damn things in my car from when I did that 100km run). I usually have a banana but one of those is 20g carbs so it'd be about the same. Not doing that again any time soon though, that workout sucked and took ages to get a pump lol
I can never workout without carbs. I don't know how these people can train fasted...I'm in the gym for like 2-3hrs these days and if I didn't have anything in me I'd drop dead on the floor!

Looking great for 13 weeks out.
Probably 8%, but definitely no higher!
As regards your physique, I'll be telling you what you know already:
Your legs and back are your strong points. Upper chest is still flat, but much better over the last few months. Arms are looking much bigger and fuller this time round
Shoulders are good but need a bit more mass to cap off the physique.
Overall though you present a strong package. No-one on stage is going to have your leg mass, and with artful posing you can minimise the impact of your chest
If you can get dialed in and shred your hammies and glutes (and I have no doubt that you will with 13 weeks!) then you are going to be hard to beat!
Good luck with the prep!

Overview
IT'S CHEST DAY, CHEST DAY, GOTTA BENCH BENCH BENCH ON CHEST DAYYYY. Rebecca Black, I'm comin' for ya...srs.
Decided to change it up a bit today and have some longer rest breaks on my dumbbell benching to push some heavier weight. It was a nice change to begin with, but I got over it real quick. I felt like I was wasting my time. I had a good pump, but it felt like I was one of those guys that spends more time chilling around and getting hyped up for a lift, waiting to get ready. I know it works for most people, but it's just not for me. Get in, get it done, get out. No waiting around, no pacing, no hype and most of all...no bullsh*t.
I quickly got back into my normal routine and it felt phucking fantastic. It's funny how the slightest changes can have the biggest impact. I watch people do flys all the time...up and in, then back down again, almost a perfect circular motion. F*ck that. I go up, squeeze that sh*t like I'm in a posedown hitting a most muscular, lower it down then stop at the bottom. Anyone can make it easier on themselves, but taking something simple and searching for the hardest way to do it is something special.
Very happy with my dumbbell SLDL's today. All sets with 50kg DB's. Why? Because 2 weeks ago I phucking said I would. My flexibility is definitely improving too, I actually managed to go all the way down and touch the dumbbells on the ground. Talk about a stretch! Powered up on each rep with my glutes and hamstrings. 8 reps on each set, 8 again on my last one too...before I had my candid "f*ck this" moment, closed my eyes and squeezed out another 2. I don't even need to push for these now, they just happen every workout. No need to flick the switch...this light's always on. After these and a few more exercises, I literally hobbled onto the elliptical.
Cardio was pretty damn painful today, after that hamstring assault my lower body didn't want to move. Whatever. When my body gives up, my mind just gets stronger. 14 weeks...full speed ahead! :D

Daayyyaammmnn! Looking cut bro. And eating 3x as much?!?! Mirin'! Great work.
Thanks brah! Definitely loving the food. I'll now never understand why people opt to get the majority of their deficit through their diet. I feel so much better throughout the day, look fuller and still have a good amount of energy...and all it takes is an hour of sweat on a machine each day. For normal people I can understand, but for anyone who's prepping I just don't understand why you'd slack on cardio.
In for this bro, didn't know you had a log. Get this prep DONE! You have the right attitude. Don't let up, dig dig dig till you're number 1.
Great to have you in here bro, cheers!
Thanks as always mate! Can you think of any ways I can pose that would help in hiding my chest? I've been trying for ages and managed to fix my side tri the best I could, but my FDB and front lat spread still hurt me, same as my side chest if I don't twist enough. It's kind of hard since I taught myself how to pose haha.
wow...v impressed...defo have gotton alot bigger while remaining lean!!
Cheers bro!
you look unbelievable my dude.
PS you're going to be shouted out in my log for the 2nd time in about an hour lol

Could not agree with you more about cardio, I was really stubborn my last couple cuts to not include cardio and do it completely through diet, big mistake, this time around after the first 25lbs I finally started doing cardio and the weight is just falling off, I could of reduced my cut by 6-8 weeks If i wasn't so stubborn.
When I'm done and bulking cardio will def stick around so I can keep my conditioning.

WHOAAAAAAAA HERE WE GO! It's legs day mufukkas, time to bring the noise. I'm energized, I'm ready, and nothing's holding me back.
I walked to the gym door in a trance. For this next hour, I don't care what's going to happen to me. I'm laying it all on the line. From the moment I touch a weight, it's full speed ahead. No slowing down, no stopping...this time's for real. Sit back and take notes, you're about to get a lesson in PAIN.
Started off with leg extensions, just for fun. Paused and squeezed at the top. As my legs are getting leaner, I can focus more and more on the individual sections of my quads in these. Not only did I feel the fibres quivering, I saw them. 4 sets later I picked my ass off the chair and nearly fell. A cold rush of blood swelled into my legs, almost collapsing my knees. This is gonna be fuuunnnnn!
Squats time baby. I hit out 3 heavy sets at 150kg then it was time for some widowmakers. Did my first and it was DAMN hard. My strength/stamina is slowwwllyyyy starting to drop, but whatever. I thought about calling it quits after one set of these and I'd make it up with lunges or something. FUUAAARRKKK THAATTT!! No excuses. You're not a phucking quitter. If all this means as much as you say it does, then get your ass back under that damn bar. I can't believe how deep I was going on this last set, they were almost paused squats. I went down until the damn bar hit the safetys. 10 reps was rough, the next 3 were a struggle, the following 2 were phucking ridiculous and the final 5 were HOLY SH*T WTF ARE YOU DOING CUZ! Sweat. Drop. Cry. Get up. Move on.
After a bunch of leg pressing I decided to do something a little different and try out hack squats with a barbell. These were super awkward to begin with, but once I get the technique down my quads were on FIYAAHHHH! Only one thing left...sommersault squats.
Finished up with 12 sets of brutal calf raises. I wish I could record myself walking after these...because it just doesn't happen. I have to drag my lifeless body down the stairs after holding myself up on the machine trying to catch my breathe. Solid day...complete. You wanna know the secret to these wheels? Hard work is an understatement. You've gotta treat it like it's the only thing that matters.
Hooked up some vids for this one too. First vid is my 3rd set of squats at 150kg. The next one is of my sommersault squats since everyone keeps asking me wtf they are lol Enjoy!

Great squatting - nice slow tempo and form (at least back and butt position) looked perfect. Even better, you maintained good, tight form right up to the last rep.
I love the somersault squats - did them once and it killed my quads and my groin - you definitely need to pad the bar
Your calves look great in that vid btw!

Had to chime in that this log inspired me to get through my most recent leg work out... That unwavering will, the reluctance to reduce the weight even when the struggle that was the last rep is still clearly etched in your mind. I honestly went to myself at one point "What would Webber do?", sad somewhat but I had to draw on some form of external motivation =D

Sick physique bro! Lost a lot of bf already and you still 13 weeks out lol. Chest is an obvious weakpoint and maybe a bit more back thickness. Good good your arms look sick in that side chest though.
Squats look a bit high, but bodybuilding not powerlifting is the goal here and form looked real good for targeting the quads.

Very impressive squatting. Even more so that you're doing that much weight with no belt...my stabilizer muscles (including lower back) are just jacked and my squat is at a pathetic standstill. At one point I was doing 225 lbs for 4 reps and now I hurt myself with 155 for 5. Any pointers for improving lower back strength?

Yeah bro, I never used to do it whenever I've dieted in the past. I've always done some type of cardio just because I used to do distance running when I was little, but never anything to lose weight haha. It's always going to come down to diet, but in my experience more food + MORE WORK = better results. People overlook conditioning, but it helped me so much with my bulking this year too!

Cheers mate! Yeah the sommersault squats are killer, I used to always use a pad for them but now I've managed to find a sweet position where I can't even feel the bar against my hips. It's hard to get the correct foot placement to start with.

Yeah I think the only thing that'll fix my chest is time. It's all good though, I'm in no rush. When I look back on these in 5 years time I expect to blow myself away!
Totally agree with the squats. I just went to parrallel on these because my right glute was playing up a little from the SLDL's I did yesterday. I tried getting lower when warming up but it just felt terrible. I try do them to keep the focus on my quads the best I can. As much as it's a whole lower body exercise, I want most of the tension on my quads when I do them. As you said man, bodybuilding not powerlifting! Couldn't agree more.

At one point I was doing 225 lbs for 4 reps and now I hurt myself with 155 for 5. Any pointers for improving lower back strength?
Thanks Drew! I've never used a belt in my life. I've got nothing against them for strength or powerlifting purposes, or if someone has a nagging injury, but for bodybuilding I'm pretty against using them. In my mind, if you can't push the weight naturally without assistance, then strengthen what it is that holds you back rather than blocking it out and becoming more unbalanced.
For lower back strength there's nothing really magical...just deadlifting consistently. That's all I've ever done for my lower back. You could try some goodmornings and hyperextensions as well, but my guess is you probably have a weak core, not so much just your erectors. Hit some vaccuums, planks and other core stuff and I'd expect your squat will jump. I've always had strong stabilizers from doing martial arts when I was younger, so give those a try!
F'in Love this log mate! Especially the overviews. If you ever get the chance, check out my log, any pointers or tips will be much appreciated.

Overview
This workout was totally brutal and I shouldn't have done it. I'll cut the crap here because I'm rushed for time. I've come down with a pretty crazy flu, no fever but I can barely swallow anything and can't breathe through my nose. Hell, I had to mix all my meals up today with water and mush the meat and rice together to make some gross kangaroo type paste crap just so I could get them in.
While training my symptoms pretty much went away once I got started and I could manage to push through. Set some PR's on my incline benching and cable flyes and had one of the craziest pumps imagineable.
Cardio was what made it hard though. Within 10 minutes I was whiped. My throat was closing up and I had to make little sniffing breathes in and out of my nose. It was totally phucked. I don't ever encourage people to train through being sick, but I'm just way too stubborn. I don't want to leave anything to chance. If my illness stays a bit longer, so be it. If my recovery sucks, whatever. I don't care. I'm pushing through this with everything I can, and nothing's going to hold me back. I trained through food poisoning and bronchitis last year, I can handle this. At the end of the day, if I really feel that there is no chance I'll be push myself to the limit then I'll take a bit of time to rest, but I'm from that. My body doesn't like it, but I know in my head that I can still push through. One thing is leading to another lately, but at the end of my prep I want to be able to look back at all my hurdles and recall how I overcame them...and I can assure you, that will be one of the greatest feelings.

And seriously - don't train through a flu! (I have to put on my doctor's hat now!)
A head cold is OK, but if you get the aches and pains it's a sign of a viral myopathy, which you should let pass. The great danger is that myocardial muscle is also affected like skeletal muscle, and athletes have died of acute cardiac failure or electrical disturbance by pushing it during a viral illness.
Don't want to scare you and I know you're a sensible trainer, but.....

Bleehhhhh still sick. I had to take this one easy, but as I said yesterday...it isn't going to hold me back. I actually split this up into two half hour sessions otherwise I think my immune system would have died. Once I got home at night though I was feeling a little better. Working in a vitamin shop has it's benefits...I can't count the amount of zinc, garlic, olive leaf extract, vitamin C and sugar free throat lozenges I've been pounding down lol.

Thanks for making me aware of that mate. As I said, if I really think that I can't get through it or that it would hold me back on my workout then I'll take the time to rest. Luckily though I think it's just a head cold, no aches and pains or fever, just the usual blocked nose and razor throat. It's gotten significantly better today though as the hours pass on so I think I'll be right, I'm glad I jumped on it early. Thanks heaps again, you know I'm all about training hard but keeping it smart! :D

I've been keeping my hands on my quads while doing leg ext. too, it's much harder than I thought it would be!!!
Funny how hard it actually makes it huh? Guys always go wtf when they see me squatting 150kg+ then only doing 40-50kg on leg extensions. It's an ISOLATION movement, not a "grab the handles and swing the weight up with every muscle in your body" exercise ;)
glad to see the hair is back to normal haha, good stuff is going down in here, still cant get over your hammies, the drop is gonna be ridiculous in a few more weeks on those
never seen those somersault squats, kinda wanna try them they look pretty fun

Hey bro! Yeah hopefully my hammies can come in well, I've been trying hard over the past few months to bring them up so now only time will tell! Definitely give those sommersault squats a try, they're sick!
Machine hacks are 10x better than barbell. It's a really awkward movement and hard to isolate your quads. I use a regular stance but I'm guessing both would work. The hard bit is just getting the movement right without hitting your hamstrings with the bar on the way up. My gym doesn't have a machine to do them on either, and normally I'd do front squats on the smith but my lower back wasn't feeling too great. Smith front squats are definitely a great sub for hacks though!

don't mind me though i don't know **** about competitions.
still looks gross (srs) face and body tan is not even close
Haha, well I never said I could please everyone :)
Is this a joke? Wtf this comment made me upset (no WK); i'm serious. Obviously body tan isn't there yet lol he has no reason to be tan until competition day. OP has put on a shiet load of weight not to mention practically 100% LBM so y u mad tho?
Lol keep up the good work, Webber! Your squats are sick and quads look huge man.
I appreciate that bud! Hell, it's the middle of winter here and I haven't seen sun in weeks...bound to be pasty lol
sorry no hate, i seriously have 0 clue to competition, hell i started lifting since last month..
one of my friends in the army was a bodybuilder who posted a pic of himself on facebook and looked similar to this (he was competing) i never understood, they all look smaller competing but look better looking for me (bigger) when not competing.. just confused don't mind my comments i'm a nooby here :C
Your comments don't bother me at all mate, but I'd suggest rewording your views as I know a lot of people may take offence. Everyone's entitled to their opinion and I respect that, it's what makes us individuals. I guarantee as well that since you're very knew to all of this, your opinion will continually evolve over the next few years.
With respect to your friend, bodybuilding isn't just about being big. It's about bringing the most conditioned physique possible to the stage while still displaying a much greater than average amount of lean tissue. Some people don't like the shredded look, and others don't like the bulk; either way, it's totally fine. In the context of the sport though, the freakishly abnormal physiques that the great champions bring to the stage is what we all aim for.

Funny how hard it actually makes it huh? Guys always go wtf when they see me squatting 150kg+ then only doing 40-50kg on leg extensions. It's an ISOLATION movement, not a "grab the handles and swing the weight up with every muscle in your body" exercise ;)
We'll bring our chests up eventually brah, give it time ;)

Siiiiickkkkk day today! My head cold is nearly completely gone, thanks to smashing down 5x the reccommended dose of olive leaf extract lol I don't have much to report on today that wouldn't be repeating myself from previous days, but I'll say this much...just when I thought my strength may have been starting to dip, this just proved me the phuck wrong! I can go into the gym and make excuses as to why it's okay to not lift as much..."I'm dieting, I'm tired, I'm sick, I'm a phucking pussy..." the list can go on and on, but at the end of the day the only REAL excuse you can ever make is "I just didn't want it bad enough." That's not me, and that's not how I roll.
My glutes were playin' with me again so I had to ditch regular deads. Not to matter, I'll go for 220kg on the hammerstrength for 4 sets of PR's. No holding back. Last exercise in my workout? Not a problem. First set felt great, then the second I was pretty whiped. On my last set I told myself "8 or nothing". Well, I kind of failed on that...let's not kid ourselves, there was no way I was stopping at that number. Tell yourself 8, push for 10. Success is measured by the amount of times you fail, but keep on going. Failing can only happen when you take action to do something, and I'm sure as hell not afraid to do that.

Sorry for being slack with my monologues and my workouts lately everyone, I've had a lot of "real life" stuff going on which is taking up a lot of my time. Yepppp, I do more with my life than eat, train and sleep :D In short, I got offered the manager's spot at my work, so of course I accepted! Really means a lot to me...even when I first started training I always wanted to manage a supplement store, and now it's a reality! It'll probably be a little difficult once my next semester at university starts, but until then I have still have 2 months so I'm looking forward to learning all the odds and ends of the business :)
Anywho, now that's out of the way I can go on to this workout. Happy with this one, huge pump in my chest and really felt everything as always. I'm still nursing a slight glute strain which impacted on my SLDL's a little, so I'll be keeping an eye on that. It seems that over the past month, every week there has been something new that's gone wrong haha. Not complaining by any means, because at the end of the all this I can look back at every single day and remember the obstacles that I've overcome. Grow in the gym, grow as a person; it's all important!

I used to have problems with that often, it just depends on how you set up in the beginning. Start with the bar just above your hips and have them rounded, then when you unrack it, lift up and and forward with your hips. Should help a bit, I never have problems with it anymore.
Once you get used to going through over 1kg of the roo mince every day the smell really doesn't bother you lol

Thanks dude! Yeah, being sick at the moment is actually playing with me a fair bit, and I'm starting to get the brain fuzzies, but there's no way in hell that I'm letting that effect my intensity! Some people do this for the end result, but I do it for the journey. I enjoy the process of pushing myself every single day no matter what situation I'm in. Your drive is what you make of it!

I'm marketdly better now so that's all good. I'll give you the run down of yesterday's workout later on in a few hours so I promise that will be better...it was a stellar workout. Stay tuned!

Overview
Okay I promised you guys something special for this one so here we go.
I got to the gym in the morning, pretty flustered. To put this bluntly, I'm sick and tired of having my body not agree with me lately. Every week, something new has come up. It started with the shoulder, then the headaches, cold and flu and now it's my right glute. Yeah I've been pushing through it, I can handle whatever, but I'm sick of it happening. When I opened the doors this morning I made a decision...I don't care what the phuck is going on anymore. I don't care what goes right, what goes wrong, or anything in between. I'm not letting anything else slow me down and try to hold me back. I've worked too long and hard for this every single day of my life for the past 18 months, and I'll be damned if any ailment is going to diminish my results. I'm going all in, and nothing's getting in my way.
New attitude, new motivation. Get f*cked injuries and sickness, you're no longer in my vocabulary. Started off with some hammerstrength pressing. Love this thing so much. It's a weak movement for me, but I don't care. I feel it well, and I can progress on it even better. How? Take note.
Started off with my normal starting set weight...but to warm up. It's heavy time. Busted out my first set and felt amazing. No holding back remember? Time to go up. Bumped the weight up and hit a nice little PR. Would've been happy, but only the weak are content with doing what they know they already can. Watch me do more. Bumped the weight up again. One more set, one more PR.
After some slooowwwwwww incline flyes (and I'm talking stretch, PAUSE, contract, SQUEEZE style here) I moved on to seated chest presses. I like this machine too, mainly because I can really feel my chest actually working when I accentuate it. Whatever. 3 sets down and I wanted to make my mark. I had it in my head that this session is an insanity booster and competition killer, so here we go. Drop set time. I told myself I was getting 12 reps on my last set, no matter the cost. 8 came and felt almost too easy. 5 seconds later I pushed out another 4. What's that, 12 already? Limitations are for people that make them. Closed my eyes and squeezed out 3 more.
Finished off with crossovers and dips and then it was time for lights out cardio. 900 calories this time..why? Because I can, and because people say that you shouldn't. I left the gym on this day feeling satisfied, yet hungry. This is my private war. From this point on, there's no turning back, no holding me down, and no letting up.

Haha man I wish I logged my prep last year, it was pretty crazy! Started dieting 22 weeks out, made an Australian team for bowling and had to go to Malaysia for 2 weeks, got back at 8 weeks out with food poisoning, 3 weeks later got bronchitis...still didn't miss a session. I actually joined a gym in Malaysia in for the 2 weeks and trained at midnight with one of the other guys on my team!

Haha yeah man, it's like what I always tell people...let bodybuilding enhance your life, not consume it. This sport has taught me so much already that I can carry over into all other aspects of my life, that's one of the main reasons why I couldn't ever imagine life without it now.
IRT macros...I'll check and see if I can. Out of respect for Alex I don't really want to expose too much information about his prepping methods, but if he doesn't have a problem then I'll go ahead. They are quite different and not the norm around here, but they're working so well...all it tells me is that NOTHING is as black and white as we think :)

This workout was siiiiickkkk. I actually dug out my log book, havn't used this in a little while because I was starting to get hung up on beating numbers. I don't care about that sh*t anymore. Next offseason I'll use it again, but for now I couldn't care less what my numbers are...there's only 2 things that matter to me now.
1) Did I take the set as far as I could go?
2) Did I go BEYOND what I thought I could?
So, if I didn't care about numbers or PR's then why was this workout so good? I tore the bar down and raised it just that little bit higher...every single time.
When I started T-Bar rows I loaded up with the smaller plates. Full contraction, full stretch, pause at the top and on the bottom. No bullsh*t here. I looked in my book at my previous numbers last month and didn't even think about it. Is that all you could do? Pathetic. New attitude, new standards. You want to win? Then phucking work for it. Didn't drop the weight until my last set where I just stripped off one plate. I picked up the bar then immediately dropped it down after 1 rep. Don't sell yourself short. F*ck this. Grabbed a small plate and whacked it on then repped out.
I still can't do conventional deadlifts because of this nagging glute strain, but whatever. Remember what I said yesterday? NO EXCUSES. Whatever the problem, work around it. Rack pulls it is! Started off with 140kg which felt alright. You know what? Phuck it. Let's hit something big. 180kg. I strapped myself up and then just exploded. The first rep was hard, but the rest I don't even remember. All I recall doing is pulling until my back nearly snapped trying...and this continued for 4 sets.
Finished off with close grip pulldowns again with my 'Webber tempo'. These felt incredible, and then my last set came where I dropped the weight. I paused for a second in my typical fashion...successful people know their boundaries, but continue to test them. I'm not falling victim to "coasting along". I pulled the pin out and put it back to what it was before, no dropping down. After that set, it was game over.

Great day today. Smashed out much higher numbers than I normally do, everything is going up, up, UP! Lack of a detailed write up again, I'll get back on it tomorrow morning when I actually have some time off. This job aint easy and right now I'm really stacked up, but hey, I'm loving every bit of it. I need to hire more staff but that will take about 2 weeks, so until then I may be sporadic with my updates but rest assured I'm still bleeding away, whether it's public or not!
I have some more epic news too, but ya'll can wait until tomorrow ;)

Okay okay I was going to wait until my overview of what's sure to be an EPIC legs session today, but you phags are too impatient :p
As I was closing up shop yesterday, a girl came in to my store to pick up some protein bars then just started talking. Complimenting my body etc. After talking some crap and asking to see my midsection, she introduced herself. Turns out she runs a sports modelling company up in Sydney and she was down here just for the day for a meeting. Anywho, she did up a draft contract for me then and there on the spot and left me her card. She said she will be in contact with me later in the week and will meet up with me again when she is down here next fortnight to go over a few things and see if I'm interested! I was kind of shocked at first, this really isn't my thing since I just train because I love to do it and my physique is truly just a by-product of my passion for what I do. I don't train to win shows or look good, I train because I love having control over my body, and stepping on stage just gives me a competitive outlet...but hey, if I can make some cash just because of what I do then why not! :D
On top of that, I've finally got my way at work...not only is my store the first franchised GNC in Australia to stock Xtend, but we are also soon to be the largest retailer of ALL Scivation products...xtend, whey, and novem! For most of you guys this probably doesn't mean anything, but for all my fellow supplement junkies...you could only imagine how happy I am. There's going to be no better feeling than having my shelves filled with one of the most quality and cost efficient brands.
ANDDDDD one final thing...possibly the biggest and most exciting thing that's happened to me this week...
...
...
...I bought a new fry pan! srs. and yes, I'm legit excited about that. comeatmebro.
This week has been really great. So many opportunities opening up, big plans coming together, RUNNING MY OWN STORE AT 19! and I've lost about 6lbs. All this actually really takes my mind off dieting, I really think the main problem with people who struggle a lot during prep is they simply just forget to smile!

Overview
Although I'm new to this position, I'm finding myself getting more and consumed by it. I actually love it so much! Today was my first day off in ages, and what did I do? Went in to work, just for the hell of it and to check up on everything. My parents are getting a little concerned because every moment that I'm not training, I'm doing something for work. My response is this...it doesn't matter if you obtain rewards or benefits for what you do. For the first time in my life, I can honestly say that I'm enjoying EVERYTHING involved in it. Yeah times get tough, but if there's one thing that training is training has taught me it's that challenges aren't bad things, they only give you a chance to grow and improve.
Anyway, back to gym stuff (that is what this is all about right?). I was feeling GREAT and energized today...must have been the free tub of Xtend I picked up, right Bob? ;) I'm finding that starting off with leg extensions really helps to get my focus right into my quads. After my first 4 sets, I'm already stumbling around the gym with blood filled tree trunks...and I haven't even squatted yet!
In the previous weeks I've been hesitant with my squats, either because of an illness or an injury. Remember what I said last week though? NO HOLDING BACK! Another perk to leg extensions early is that I can't load up as much weight later on. Lighter weight, better feel, less risk of injury...WIN! I made a point of getting these ones DEEP. There were moments during these sets where a couple of trainers in the gym were watching me after slowly pushing upwards thinking I was going to drop if I went down again...proved that sh*t wrong.
Went on to the seated leg press after this. I'm using this machine now just because it doesn't seem to put as much strain on my glutes. 3 sets in and I was smoked. Something happened again, as usual, just before my last set. F*ck it, lets do a high rep set again. After fighting with my mind back and forth for a few moments, I gave in. Once the challenge enters my head, I always jump on it. Listen to your thoughts...if there is something telling you that you can do it, then go for it! 10 reps in and I knew this was a bad idea. 5 more and it's shaking time. Surprisingly I managed another 5 after this....and then another switch flicked. 20 is for pussies, let's do more. Worst idea of my life. I managed to slowly bust out 5 more reps one by one, then fell off the machine.
Finished off with somersault squats then went back to leg extensions. The weight I used on these the second time around was pitiful to say the least. My quads weren't even in pain any more, it was past that stage. They just refused to move. There were times were I was on the machine looking more like a constipated psycho than someone trying to do leg extensions. No matter how hard I pushed, that weight just wouldn't budge. Humbling feeling to say the least haha. Till next time...

HOT DAYUMNNNNNNNN good ass freakin' day! Just as I let my experiences in the gym carry over into other aspects of my life, I now also let my successes outside of the gym enhance my training. Seriously, sometimes the only thing people need to do to have a good workout is stop...think...and f*cking smile. Enjoy what you do, strive to always achieve more, and never forget that everything you do is YOUR choice.
Started warming up for my pressing and everything felt light. No idea why, but no way in hell was this a sign of taking it easy. Hit 12 out for my first set at 80kg...after this, there was no doubts. I loaded up 90kg last week and that was the heaviest I've gone since I did DC at the end of last year...so phuck it. 100kg it is. No holding back. I don't care how many reps I get. I'm pushing this weight, pushing it clean, and going until something breaks.
After that set I just powered through the whole workout. First time hitting 100kg on a press, about freakin' time! Hammered through my cardio with ease as well. I'm 11 weeks out as of today and feeling great. I do get slight fluctuations in blood sugar and the energy highs and lows which go along with it, but it's really nothing. So long as I keep busy, which at the moment I have no problem doing, it doesn't even feel like I'm dieting. Win, win, win. :D

awesome writeup and workout as always...
on the occlusion, i'm not huge on a lot of fancy stuff either, but dude, occlusion is on a whole other level compared to regular high rep sets. it's a total mind phuck when you've only got like 70lbs on the leg extension, but you literally CAN NOT move it. its a different kind of fatigue. not to mention the PUMP is insane! it looks like someone went haywire with collagen in my legs and arms after i'm done. and the veinage is crazy...

I've never actually done calf raises with a bar before, it throws me off balance haha. What I suggest, and what I actually started out doing which kicked my calfs into growth, is do cardio on the balls of your feet. I know it sounds stupid, but just run for half an hour every other night with your heels just hovering above the ground and striking with the balls of your feet. It's actually a more natural and efficient style of running too. I used to do this nearly every night for about 4 years before I even started going to the gym.
Personally I haven't found anything to work better than slow ass calf raises on the leg press with a held stretch, but you gotta make do with what you've got bro! :D

Overview
Not much to report on this day, nothing spectacular in terms of new things and intensity....LOLLLLL yeah right, that's not how I do it in here!
Drove to the gym with a surprising amount of energy for 3:30am. As I hopped out of the car, it was pissing down rain and freezing cold. That's the beauty of this sport, no matter what the day is like, there's never an outside occurrence that can impact what you do in the gym. No wet weather protocols, no heat stoppage, nothing. If you don't give it your all when you walk in those doors, you're the only one to blame.
I started off with pull ups today instead of wide grip pull downs. I hate pull ups but here's the funny story...there is a small plaster wall in my gym just behind the pull down machine that separates the machine section from the free weights. Some f*cking retard was doing what he though was pull downs but I would more call it humping the sky. He's putting his whole fat ass body into the movement and what happens? He puts his back STRAIGHT THROUGH THE WALL. He looked around like no one noticed...there was only me and one other guy in the gym and since I was about to use the machine I couldn't help but to point out to him how much of a phucking idiot he was. Needless to say, he left the gym.
Anywho I made up for it by destroying some rack pulls, stacking on weight each set. Stretch, pull, squeeze; that's how we do it! No momentum like some idiots think is a good idea. After these I hit up deadlifts on the hammerstrength machine because my glutes are still playing up. I wish I new what was going on, but right now the only thing I can do is go as hard as possible without causing them further injury. It's a fine balancing act, but nothing impossible. Hammered out 3 sets and they were pretty damn tough.
Finished off with some more pulldowns and rows and my lats were toaaassstttt. No better feeling than a shirt stretching across your back! Cardio was pretty easy too, but after a 9 hour shift at work I was home and asleep by 7pm LOL.

Bleeehhhhhh pumpumpumPUMPED up today cuz! Dis workout was siiiiiick. Alex has dropped my volume down a bit and added in some weighted dips. I don't have a belt so I have to do them with a dumbbell between my legs which is kind of annoying but I'm a cheap kunt so comeatmebro. Needless to say though, I've never done them before and I fawking love them! Chest was so damn pumped.
Cardio was pretty damn rough today. Funnily enough it goes in phases...some days I can smash through it easily but others it feels like forever. Not to matter though, about half way through I had that little animal kick in and start screaming at me as usual. What the f*ck are you complaining about? You think this is hard now? Imagine how tough it will be later on. What you're putting yourself through now is what most other people will make a thousand excuses to avoid. Don't be part of that crowd. Stick it out - the juice is worth the squeeze. Time seemed to fly after that :p

Wow. I can't remember how long it's been since I've had some decent DOMS in my chest. When I woke up in the morning I new I was in for a ROUGH day of pressing...funfun! :D
Started warming up my shoulders then got to business. Dumbbell presses to kick it off today, and I made a point of feeling everything working. Anyone can sit on a bench and throw some weight up, and can you actually feel your shoulders stretching and shortening, quivering every second? I sure as hell can.
Sometimes I wish I could find a girlfriend as tight as my form...this sh*t burnt so hard that it felt INCREDIBLE. Slowly lowering the weights down, I touched my shoulders with the dumbbells briefly before exploding up. No locking out on this, kept a constant tension always holding a slight angle in my elbow.
Boulders permitting, I was sick of doing side laterals. I decided to hit up a move that Charles Glass showed us at FILEX earlier in the year. Upright rows, with a wide grip, holding about a 90 degree angle in the arms. Someone say capped delts? Ya know it! First set I started off lightly but that quickly changed. Blehhhh I'm not injured anymore, no holding back. Time to GET.THE.F*CK.UP. 4 sets of this and I was lost in a sea of striations.
Cardio was pretty damn easy today. It phucks with my mind how it goes in phases like that. I felt great from the moment I stepped on the crosstrainer, so for the next 60 minutes I did everything I could to spill my guts. Hitting the thing at 15km/h and a measly 950 calories later, I was done.
Since I'm feeling so good, ya'll want some nudez? Yeah, I know you do...

Maybe it's a prep thing, or maybe I'm just hating on what I see in the community around me, but the fact is that I've got to make a change. This has been bugging me for quite some time now, but only recently has it escalated to a point where I need to do something about it.
I'm sick and tired of people saying they can't do something. Whether it's at the gym, in the workplace, or just as a reference towards general activities...too many people say this word. The word can't places a limit on what you want or are willing to do. That's it. Every day of my life I'm bombarded with excuses as to why someone chooses not to do a certain task. Hell, I'd be flat out lying if I said I didn't do it myself. It's just life. Well...it was. Time to make a shift.
We've all heard of a swear jar, but what about an "I can't" jar? I'm starting this up myself, putting it out the back of my work and if anyone wants to join me they are more than welcome, but I'm not forcing anything. If I want to make a change around me, I've got to lead by example. So, to make a start, every time I say the word can't in reference to me not WILLING to do something, I'll put a gold coin in the jar. At the end of the year, I'll donate every last cent in that jar to the Starlight Foundation. This is charity that helps out kids who are terminally ill or severely injured to bring a tiny shred of happiness back into their lives. Many of these children don't even get the opportunity to do the things we choose not to, they don't even have the option.
It might not be much, but it's better than nothing. I'm sick of humanity being so selfish without even realizing it. Somewhere over the years, we've forgotten how lucky we are. This is my chance to see just how much I take for granted, as well as show everyone else and hopefully inspire them to see the same. Every day, someone is doing it tougher than you. Anywhere you look, you can find someone who wishes they had something that you've got. Don't take your gifts for granted, for you never know when they can be taken from away.
I'll conclude with one of my favourite lines. It's simple, yet so meaningful.
Be the change you wish to see in the world. - Ghandi.

I feel the same way most of the time. People will stop themselves before they even reach their limit and don't understand they need to push that limit. I've mostly seen this while coaching wrestling, its like they refused to push hard no matter what, and will say "this is hard, I can't do this, I need a break" blah blah blah, til practice is over.
Next season the first thing I'll be saying to them is "The words Can't, Will not, won't, etc will not be used during practice at any point!"
Maybe instead of a "can't jar" maybe just a "Negative Jar", if someone says anything negative they put a quarter or so in it.

Haha yeah I do it a far bit man, my gym is full of douchebags at peak times so I like to go when there is no one else there except grandma's or shift workers.
Oh he was the biggest phucking joke. I didn't say a lot, pretty much just walked over to him and was like "mate with form like that, you're lucky the wall was the only thing that broke" and then just looked at him in disgust. He didn't really know how to respond lol

Interestingly though, I have no problems with someone saying they won't do something. That's fair enough. If a person tells me they won't, then it shows that they recognize that they have the ability to do the task, but just choose not to. That's my issue with the word "can't". People use it instead of "won't", but 9 times out of 10 they can do something, just choose not to. It's the choice factor which we take for granted that I have problems with.
Traps are just sick in that most muscular pose!
Thanks brah!

I'm not just saying this, but I seriously think you should consider making some motivation videos with some of words you say. Just reading it in my head is inspiring, and hearing it coming from someone's voice would alter the meaning even more. I'm being 100% serious.

Hey mate,
I've definitely been meaning to do some more video logs, I much prefer them to writing big posts. The main reason I do the writing is just because half the time I'm at work and it's the only spare half hour or so I have in the day, but I definitely plan on doing some more.

Haha it's a thing that my boss and I say to each other all the time. He frequents on these forums as well and half the time we say all these memes and the rest of our staff are like wtf?
He is going to join me with the idea, so we put the jar out the back of the shop. He's one of the most productive people I know, running 4 businesses + family + training + everything in between and yet still wants to improve...now THAT'S saying something.

GUESS WHO'S BACK MUFUKKAAASSSS?!
Farrrk me, been a crazy past few days. My day has been consisting of leaving the house at ~3:30am, going to the gym, then work, then gym again, visiting mum in the hospital, then coming home at about 8pm to cook for the next day and do it all again. Not complaining in the slightest. Time is our greatest resource. If you can't find it, then f*cking make it!
Mum is doing fine. Her surgery went well and she is well on her way to a great recovery. Not gonna lie, I'm so proud of her, and she totally kicked my ass into gear without realizing it. Her bowel surgery took 4 hours, and when she came to she was up and walking almost straight away...wouldn't even let me help her put her shoes on. True fighter. My mum's tougher than me...feelspussyman.jpg. :D
Anywho on to this workout! Totally BUSTIN' ASS today. I'm starting to get that zombie feel that I remember oh so well, fun fun! I was hell happy with my pressing today though. Hit up 100kg again on my hammerstrength presses with a rep PR and didn't get under 80kg at all. I probably should have, but I'm stubborn. No dropping down this time, I didn't care how many reps I got. 1 or 100, I'm going for broke. You can measure weight, you can count down your reps, but that doesn't matter to me now. I count my stride, nothing else matters. If I don't go all in, I'm going straight out, and you best believe the latter ain't no option!
I don't remember most of this workout (as I said, zombie like daze), but it was phucking rough. The cardio was worse. 10 minutes felt like an hour, and an hour felt like a day. Truth is, it only gets harder from here, and quite frankly...I enjoy it. If what we do was meant to be easier, then everyone would be a champion. I'm not content with that. Truth is, I could do this sh*t for hours if it meant I would bring out the best in myself. Nothing I'm going to do will hold me back from here, the only way we're going up is UPUPUP! :D

Thanks Britt! Juice will be worth the squeeze for sure bro :D
I hit my weakest body parts 2x a week, so I have a day that is just chest and my hamstrings get hit a little on my legs day but it's mainly quad focused. It's really just so I can increase the frequency without having to end up doing AM/PM sessions since I'm already in the gym 7 days a week haha. It also lets me go balls out and switch focus from what I'm doing...I don't like doing things like chest/tris for example since they're synergistic, but when I hit an upper body weak point first and destroy that I can move on to smash my lower body without a whole lot of fatigue.
It's really just a mental thing for thing, no real scientific method behind it lol
yeah man hope your mom gets well soon! my mom had a hysterectomy a while back and she didn't react well to the anesthetic they put her on, so seeing her like that when she's usually so strong and outgoing was definitely a blow. she got better quick though, so hoping the same for you
btw, i tried those somersault squats today for my hyper leg day, and i had some trouble keeping the bar on my lap. i ended up leaning on it so hard that my weights were down to like 125lbs but i was failing by 10 reps (literally had to use the catches on the smith to keep from collapsing). any ideas for fixing?
It's a tough position, that's for sure! Play around with your foot positioning, I like to have the bar in line with my heels. Also start with the bar racked a little lower than your hips so you can really push up into it and lock it into place. It's awkward to begin with but just play around with it and you'll find that sweet spot!
FUARK bro, LOVING the attitude. Keeping killing it!
Glad to hear your mum is alright, that's amazing news :)
Thanks bro! Puttin' in work day in and day out, only thing there is to do! Knowing that mum is alright now takes a lot of extra stress off me too, so full steam ahead! :D

HERE WE GOOOOOOO!! 4am, hyped up, refreshed, and ready to get this damn thing rolling! I got in the car this morning fighting through the frost and was full of energy. Another switch as flicked in my head again as I've been watching some video logs by Ryan Doris. Nothing new really, but it just reinforces my own views and feelings. This hurts, it's not easy, it's not normal, but you know what?....I LIVE FOR IT! Bring the pain.
Started off with those wide grip bent over rows again and goddaammnn did I feel that sh*t in my delts. Caps blazin', I finished off my first 2 sets then amped it up. Some dude was doing some stupid drop set with all the dumbbells that I would use for my normal shoulder pressing so I just decided not to bother with it and hit up the machine for a change. I quite liked it, managed to close my eyes and really hone in on every little fibre stretching and contracting. MMC ftw!
Today was another stupidly weird day for cardio. An hour went by and I didn't even feel it. I hooked up my iPod and just watched old Rich Gaspari and Mike Katz videos on youtube, then before I knew it I'd been on the elliptical for 50 minutes. 10 minutes of Eminem later and I was done :D....or so I thought.
I hopped off and for some reason, had a second wind. Drenched in sweat, I worked my way over towards the cables and busted out 4 triple drop sets of rear delt flyes. I aint leaving this place until the tank is riding on EMPTY. The trainers in the gym kind of looked at me funny. "Dude, you just smashed the weights for 40 minutes, did an hour of cardio and sweated your ass off, and now you're back into the weights again?!" Yeah, try stopping me.
I hope ya'll liked my new video log! I've been promising this one for a while now. Rest assured, there will be plenty more to come! :D

awesome vid Kyle, really great stuff... it's funny, because you seem to have the same mentality as me when it comes to fitness, which pretty much moves out of the lifting scene into the professional life. i completely agree that doing what you love and being passionate about what you do is key to success. i would have never made it this far in my science career if i didn't love what i study. same with BB. even before i ever discovered this site, and natural bodybuilding, i would go and work out at 6am (which is NOT an optimal time for me) just because that was the only free time i had. i love to train, and if i don't get to i'm a completely different person.
btw, i seriously lol'd at the whole exchange between you and juliacheh in the natty inspiration thread. she def came out of nowhere with the whole arrogant etc BS. i wish people would avoid criticizing and appreciate whats there. i could give two s***'s less about whether or not ava cowen is a natural, or if j-rod is natural. the fact of the matter is that they had to do something to gain the success they have, regardless of whether or not they stick more needles in themselves than a heroine addict. so yeah, /rant haha

Overview
FUAARKKINGGGG WOWZAAA! Got up stupid early this morning craving my breakfast and cbf going back to sleep, so I made my first meal and thought f*ck it, I'll squat at 3am, the sun never shines on legs day! :D
On a side note, I finally dragged my ass to a sports doctor to sort out my pain in the butt (literally). Turns out I've got piriformis syndrome..whatever that is..and he's hooked me up some physio and stretches to do. He told me that normally he'd advise people to take some time off, but I think he got the point that I have no intentions of doing that, so I'll just be working around it lol.
Anyway because of this, I'm trying out some new sh*t until I fix this thing up. What better way to take the load off my glutes than by f*cking myself up with front squats? After blowing my legs up with leg extensions I got down to business.
80kg felt pretty easy so I thought about doing something a little stupid. Hell, I hit 100kg on my pressing for the first time the other day...might as well give it a go on front squats! No second guessing...once the thought was in my mind, that was it. Do or die. Loaded up 220lbs across my throat and started getting to work.
I was super stoked after this set but I decided to drop the weight down for my next one or I'd definitely injure myself. No biggie, smashed out another set. Widowmaker time? Ah f*ck, now that the thought is in my head I can't ignore it...20 rep front squats...FTMFW!
Stumbled over to the horizontal leg press after these. Busted out 3 sets with DISMAL weight, my quads were SHOT at this point....and then it happened again. "Hey phaggot, you really think you're hardcore? Don't joke around...do 50 reps."
I've plowed some pretty rank and drunken girls in my short life but this was by far the worst decision I've made in a LOOONGGG time. Dropped the weight down to 135kg and just got to work. I closed my eyes and did my reps with constant tension. All the way down, then no lockout. When I hit my first failure point at 12 reps, I knew this was stupid. Took a few deep breathes and kept going until 20. From here, I hit out another 5. Half way there...ARE YOU PHUCKING KIDDING ME?!?! My god. Whatever, I set my goal and I'm NOT straying from it. I don't care if knees blow out, I give myself a stroke or herniate a disc...I'm getting 50, nothing is stopping me from reaching that. Somehow, I managed to bust out 40, and then the reps came one at a time. Reps 48 and 49 were indescribable, but when I went down for that final rep and drove out of the hole...something clicked. Is that all you've got? NEVER satisfied. NEVER be content. Goals are checkpoints, GO BEYOND THEM! Somewhere out there, some crazy mufukkaaa is doing it harder...CATCH HIM! I told myself from the beginning I could get 50...my mind had done it, it was just up to my body. After reaching that, it was time to do something that mind hasn't yet accomplished. 1 MORE FUAARRKING REP! :D
Don't let up. Never stop reaching for more. I can barely walk, but who gives a sh*t. I'm going places in my heart that I never imagined, and all it takes is a little hard work!

You know it bro, that's why I love this lifestyle so much. Everything I do in the gym carries over in to all other aspects of my life, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Surpassing limits and always striving for more while I'm hitting the weights has taught me so much about how to get the most out of my short life that I have here.
People ask me why I train at like 3-4am...so I ask them why they eat at night. 9 times out of 10, I'll get the response "because I'm hungry." Well, so am I. When I wake up in the morning, I'm hungry to get my day off to a good start. I'm starving to make the most out of my forthcoming hours and I'm malnourished from being immobile for the past 8 hours. Some people work all night, but they bring food with them every shift because they know they won't be home for dinner. I work and study all day, so I train in the morning because I know I won't have the time to do it otherwise. If you want something bad enough and genuinely love it, you'll do everything in your power to get it done.
And on that last point of yours...mega lulz :p I won't get in to voicing my opinions on people because I think that fighting online is one of the lowest forms of confrontation, but what I will say is that it just frustrates me when people forget the big picture. Drugs or not, who gives a phuck. Some people may find physiques inspiring for what they are, but I prefer to not be so skin deep. I find almost anyone inspiring in one way or another, you just have to look beyond their curtains. IRT to bodybuilders...drugs or no drugs, all the top bodies have been forged the same way...hard work and consistency, and that's what we should look up to.
see you in september bro
Sh*t just got real. :p

Good question man. MUUUUCH wider than shoulder width. I hold them far enough apart so that when I bring the bar up, a right angle forms in my elbow. It's literally impossible to bring my elbows above my shoulders at this grip. I use the bars that are already weighted (they kind of look like massive long dumbbells) and I hold them with my hands touching the ends of the weight, that should give you an idea. Lean forward ever so slightly at the hips while you do them as well.
Way to greet the new day, legs are smashed before the sun even rises. I approve of heavy front squats and spew inducing high rep leg presses. Still going strong Kyle!
Thanks bro! Until I can squat properly again I think those will have to be my replacements. Not to worry, with the way my quads feel at the moment it definitely did something lol

Overview
Let me start by saying this...when hitting a body part twice a week, some people have heavy and light days. Some people split it up, having max effort days and "80%" days. Scientifically, it probably works. In reality, I don't care. For me, if I call any day that I go into the gym a "sub maximal" day, then I might as well stay at home playing WoW. I realize this works for A LOT of people, and it's probably the more optimal way of doing things (especially being natural), but I think for the most part we all get too caught up in the literature. I train because I love it. I bleed because I see results. I destroy my body because it thrives under pressure. If I start labelling workouts as "max effort" then that means at least one of them is less then that. I don't like that. Every time I'm opening that gym door, it's a balls to wall, leave nothing behind ASSAULT day. NO holding back. Let's do this...
Think I can't hit this sh*t hard again? You don't know me! loaded up 100kg again on the hammerstrength, fuuuaaarrkkk this feels good. Instead of dropping to 80kg like last time, I decided to slap on a couple of smaller plates. Progress, progress, progress. If I want to keep this muscle and my strength, I've gotta FIGHT for it. Rep after rep, I squeezed the hell out of my pecs. Totally focused on this, I'm not going down.
Moved on to some weighted dips then benching. My pecs were exploding. It's weird, I have no chest when I'm just walking around normally but when I've got a pump they go BAZOOOM! Lovin' it. Finished off with some dumbbell flys and on the later stages of my last couple of sets, sh*t got rough. I closed my eyes and had a moment that I don't usually have. After 7 reps I was out, but I was determined to get these next 3. Yeah yeah, nothing out of the ordinary, but this time these reps weren't for me. These are for the doubters, for everyone who's suffered from people telling them that they can't do something. I've always had the luxury of a solid group of people supporting me, but not everyone has that. Every day, I think about how lucky I've been, and how fortunate I am to have these types of people around me. Many others would kill for it. I embraced my feelings of fortune, and busted out my final reps for everyone who isn't as lucky. Everyone who deserves what I get, and who work just as hard as me. There's too much prejudice out there...too much prosecution towards those are different.
This one goes out to everyone who has found themselves, who know what they want to be and go out and be it, despite the naysayers and regardless of what others think. You're my inspiration.

Overview
Ok. Wow. So, prep is FINALLY starting to get to me. Yesterday was my first day off work in 18 days and I honestly didn't have a problem until I finally got the chance to rest, then it hit me. Fell asleep at about 7:30pm last night and woke up just before 3am this morning. I dragged my ass out of bed and made some breakfast.
5am came around and after a long procrastination I stood up out of my chair in a headspin and got in the car. I knew this one was going to be tough.
From the beginning of my workout, I was totally drained. All my lifts felt weak as phuck and I have no idea how long I rested between my sets, it would have been close to a minute...(yes, that's a lot for me.) I have no idea how I managed to do those rack pulls in all honesty. I literally hyped myself up for a set, went for broke, then dropped in a daze until I caught my breathe each time. I didn't even think about upping the weight from 140kg to 160kg, it just happened. I knew I had to fight for it, so I just slapped on the extra plates without realizing and got it done.
I zombified my way through the rest of the workout, and I honestly have no idea how I got through the cardio. I had 900 calories to burn, and I just set myself that as a mission. I wasn't leaving until it was done. I didn't care what I did, how long it took me or how much it took out of me...I wasn't walking out that door until it was done. I hopped between incline walking and high resistance on the crosstrainer, just waited for the time to pass. I left half the cardio area filled with sweat drenched machines...honestly, this was one of the hardest workouts mentally I've ever endured. Afterwards I went and laid down on the mats and the girl who runs the gym came over to chat, she was watching me the whole time and was totally amazed that I didn't die lol
If this is how it's going to be for the next 8 weeks, I don't care. All part of the challenge, all part of the fun. I can do this. No...I WILL do this. :)

Way to grind my short but wide interstate friend!
Have definitely had a few of those moments myself lately, just under 10 weeks out down here!

Thanks guys!
Don't have anything planned for September 18th. You're both coming to my show, like it or not. Southern Cross Club in Woden....BE DERE! :D
i'll be there, tis where I train :)
Bloody nice workout, those sort of days are the worst. not that I'd have any idea how it feels like to contest prep, but mental fatigue can be so straining... but you pushed through, and you are stronger for it. Btw, made my own 'can't' jar, seriously great idea!

I have all the respect in the world for you Kyle. I know prep is tough stuff and it baffles me youre still staying strong. Keep it that way and itll be well worth it in the end

Overview
No time for phucking around today. After yesterday's dismal response, I knew I had to take things to a place I've never been before. This is where the perks of managing a supplement shop come in HANDYYYY! :D Picked myself up a juiceeyyy tub of Scivation Novem yesterday and smashed that down this morning.
I woke up again feeling close to death. Whatever. Smashed the Novem (first pre-workout I've had in about 10 months) and got to the gym. Goddamnnn this stuff is good! Strong ass beta alanine tingles with solid energy, and no stimmed up junkie feeling. No turning back from here, I set my mind to work. Phuck doing 1 set of the 100kg hammerstrength inclines. I'll do it twice. Drop to 80kg? Phuck that too. I've done that before, I'll drop to 90kg, no less.
Powered through the rest of my workout in a freakin' blaze. I'd literally do a set, fail, shake it off then get going almost straight away. I was nearly running between benches and machines, strong ass stride today! During my cardio it began to hit me again however, but not until about half an hour in. All in all I was much more pleased with how my workout was today, and although I felt like death coming to the end of my cardio which left me nearly zombified for the rest of the day...I still hit PR's, I had great pumps and unmatched intensity...I can deal with that! :p

Thanks for all the encouragement guys. I was thinking about it the other day while I was dying on the elliptical, and I really can't express how grateful I am for the support that I get from people both on here and outside of the interwebz. You always hear underdog stories of "blah blah I did all this myself, no one was behind me, rah rah I'm so cynical and hate the world so I'mma be me and get back at everyone" kind of stuff, so that's where all the backing from others really helps out. Anyone can see a winner, but barely ever do we see what happened behind the scenes which made these champions.
@JJWheyy - as far as I know, my 2nd show will definitely be recorded but I'm not too sure about the first. I'm pretty sure it will be though!

Cold, depleted, 3:30am. Feelingfatasphuck.jpg. :D
The lighting in my shed is weird as hell, so my back shots look like crap due to me leaning back and shadowing myself out lol
8, 9, 11 and 13 weeks out in these.
