Hey guys, I'm new to the gym scene and the forum. I recently got a gym membership and was wondering; What would be the most effective diet for myself to lose weight? I understand there are other posts, which I have read, but none point to an answer. Perhaps there isn't a definitive answer to my question but for myself (6ft - 198lbs - 16% bf) what diet would you feel is the most effective?

Thanks for any help in advanced :D

An effective diet for you to start off with at this point would be higher protein, moderate carbs, and moderate-low fat. Maybe something like 50% protein, 30% carbs, 20% fat. Counting calories can be useful but you don't always need to, count a few average days to get an idea of how many calories you're consuming and go from there, for each meal eat a good amount of protein and some carbs, and with that should come around 20% fat intake if you're eating whole foods and not junk.
