Hi, I Am Justin Kulik. I am really just a backyard brawler trying to find his way up and to the ranks. Now before I give off the wrong impression, I dont go around using my MMA skills on people lighter than me or with no background at all. I wont throw gloves with anyone unless they atleast have on skill theyre good with or... Unless they run thier mouth or call me out, lol. But as you will read on here, I am not a sloppy kid just trying to be cool. So just read if you wish and throw your opinion my way (: (dont be to harsh)
So as of right now, or like 30 minutes ago, I weighed myself with my coach and I weigh 128! It was my WTF moment of my life, I weighed in at 167 over a month ago!!
My fight record as of late is 28-04-01
My Background is BJJ, Wrestling: Greco-Roman and Free-Style, Dirty-Boxing, and very little Kick-Boxing.
If I post this mid sentence its because I am school and the bell will be ringing soon, lol.
My athletic Background is: from 6-12 I played football (Line-men), 6-11 & then 13-16 Wrestling (Greco-Roman & Free-Style), 9-12 Soccer, 14-16 Football (JV Freshmen year, Varsity sophmore til Junior) (Line-men).
Now this is where things get a little funny, lol. Im going to try to organize my sports background in order so its easier to understand how I got to where I am at now.
From 8-11 I was always with my friends playing and such, but then.. My friend Steven's brother had just finished going through a tour with the Army and had come home. His name was Rob, from what I remember from back then he had said he only picked up a rifle during basic, other than that, he was on the US Army Wrestling team and had wrestled Greco-Roman. (Now due to my intrest in MMA, I know almost everything about one of his training partners from when he was in the Army, Randy Couture. He talked about Randy as if he was the most swift yet aggressive wrestler there would ever be. He idolized him, and now.. After knowing what I do about him, I do to. I can say I learned from someone who learned from a current Legend of MMA, Wrestling and the UFC, proudly.) But one day as I was playing with Steven, we walked by his garage which Rob had converted into what looked like a wrestling sanctuary, I was in a state of awe looking at all the gold and silver. After about 4 days of me just going in there, watching and badgering him and his friends on how to do a given move or take-down he had finally just said, "Come over here and I will show you". Here I was, an 8 year old standing with a 23 year old who was telling me "This is going to hurt, still want to learn"? I said for the first time in my life a phrase that I now revolve my world around and had hear from them, "F*** Yeah, Ruthless Aggression"! I swooped in for what I learned is a single-leg take-down. I wrapped both my arms around one of his legs and yanked with all my strenght, he fell right on to his back as I got up off my knees. From that day on, I trained with himand his friends every other day after school for nearly six years. But during that time, I got my first taste of MMA.. But that will come later on.
While I was little, my dad was a Body-Builder. Id always take trips with him to Gold's Gym, but everytime id walk towards a weight, id get "Not til your 12" shouted at me.
So as I walk into Springstead High School at the age of 13, I see an old face. Steven (Robs little brother) runs over and shakes my hand. We chat for a little and then he asks if I was going to wrestle with him. I was confused and thought his brother had moved back to Florida and had the garage set back up. He explained to me how SSHS was one of the BEST wrestling schools in Florida and I would fit right in. I go talk to the coach and the next thing I know, I am in the weight-room for conditioning. Coach- "Ever condition for wrestling"? Me-"Ive wrestled, played other sports, and ran alot". Coach- "Ever lift weights"? Me- "No". I have yet to see a smile bigger than his. For the next 2 hours I was taught about Olympic Lifts, 2 HOURS! But to this day I am well known in school for my perfect form and stregnth with my Clean and Jerks. Due to other sports and school, I never had time to travel with them to compete unless it was local. Everytime I did compete I easily won by points alone (there was and still isnt anyone ive gone against from football (yes, i did double leg take-downs in football, lol), wrestling, to MMA who can avoid my take-downs).
I had just finished my Junior Year Varsity Football season at Hudson High School, So I decided It was time to go back to Ridgewood High School for the rest of the year (I always transferred Schools for sports so I could focus more on grades and such). When I got back, everyone was looking at me asking if I had been juicing! End of my Junior Year Football season I weighed 168 with 9% bf, as to where the end of my Sophmore year at RHS I weighed 110 with maybe 5+ bf.. So its safe to say I was no longer the chunk kid they all knew. SO, a few days later I run into a good friend who (no homo) was looking pretty swell. He shows me a BB mag with (who I now know the life story of basically) Jay Cutler on the cover. He says "You might like this". We chat for a bit and it just came down to this, me- "So what do I have to do"? Him- "Work a body segment every day until you cant move it". Me- "I can do that, what do I eat"? Him- "Protein, Protein, Protein"! Me- "Steaks good, lol". And that was it, everyday id workout like crazy, and take my sups. And thats how I was introduced into Power-Lifting & Body-Building.
From all that above, I was changed from a nerdy little worm kid to a very athletic young man. Im still a bookworm though, lol, so if you have any book recomendations, let me know, lol.
But thats pretty much all the key things that have lead into my MMA Goal, starting tamorrow I will explain how MMA has taken over my life and how I stay in shape for it as well.
Let me know what you think so far and I hope I will have some followers on this journey (:
-Thanks & Enjoy (:
