My name is Jana and this thread is all about my countdown to the "Flirty Thirty" I have exactly 257 days until I turn 30 and my goal is to be in the most absolute best shape of my life! I am so close I can taste and I thought maybe doing this journal would give me the "push" I need to get past my plateau:) I am a wife, a mommy of 2 and a full time college student. My days are insanely busy but I i want to take time out of every day to reflect and write about my journey into the amazing world of 30 ish..lol.
A little background. In 2004 when my daughter was 2 wks old I weighed in at 270lbs. I have no idea what my absolute highest was when I was pregnant with her. I got down to 150 skinny fat with a lot of skin and then got pregnant again. I lost the baby weight I am now at 158. I have been lifting weights steady for over a year now and I am ready to kick it up a notch. I'd like to lose about 15 more lbs of fat and lean out a lot in my legs and hips. My present for myself once I reach my goal is to get my stomach skin removed and new boobs! So wish me luck!!!
On my thread I'll put my workouts and nutrition and probably some random things when the ADD kicks in. Please feel free to comment and give "constructive" criticism:) I am by no means an expert and I have never claimed to be. I just want to be the best woman, mommy and wife I can and thought I'd humor anyone who wanted to know about me and my fitness goals:)
Starting stats
weight 158
height 5' 6.5" (5'7" on a really good hair day:))
Chest 39.5
waist 27.5
hips 36
butt 39.5
thigh 21.5
calf 14
arm 11.5
I will weigh in and measure once a week:)
Thanks for reading!

Thank you so much:) It has definitely been a struggle but to be honest I am enjoying the process. I have gained more than muscle throughout this. I have found a new respect for my body and what it's capable of doing.

~260 days is a long time, I'm sure you'll reach your goals.
270lbs to 160lbs is great work, there's a lot of women that just never have the mental fortitude to recover from childbirth [and even more just use it as an excuse to consume far more calories than they need.] You gotta def be proud of that accomplishment.
I'm sure your 30th will be great. Good luck.

Thank you so much:) I am pretty stoked about my achievements so far but this last 15 or so lbs is KILLING me. I guess after your body lets go of 112 lbs its going to put up a hell of a battle to keep the last few. But I can be just as stubborn so its going to happen:)

Look at what you've already done.
I have no doubt you'll achieve your goals. Just stick with it. That's obviously the most cliched phrase ever used on the face of the planet, but bodybuilders and people who want to lose weight have learned one thing, its that we have learned how to be patient, and persevere through sweating.

This is definitely the most frustrating point you'll face. But it'll be worth it. This is the part where the whole, 'It's only calories in vs calories out' mantra goes out the window and you have to start learning how your body works as opposed to what works for everyone else. Whether it's dropping calories, increasing calories, adding cardio, not adding cardio, macro-nutrient breakdowns, etc. etc. It's a frustrating process but I think that's where it becomes fun because you end up being your own experiment! Personally I can't wait to get back down to those levels. I still have my workout/diet logs and notes from 2005 and 2006 before I had my car accident and turned into an excuse making lazy bum. It's interesting to go back to it and see what kind of things I used to try and what worked back then when I got myself down to around 5% bf.
Just keep it up and you'll get there!!! Have a great workout and day today!

Sorry I dropped the ball on posting yesterday.
I have been so busy and stressed with Algebra and I have my first Algebra test in 10 yrs. Math and I are not friends and not only do I have to pass this class I HAVE to make an A in it for the nursing program...sigh...wish me luck. SO needless to say I think my cortisol levels are through the roof. On a brighter note my workout yesterday was AMAZING and I really needed that stress release.
I did tabata style training.
jump rope
squats
planks
jump rope
sumo squats with upward row (i think that's what they're called;))
bicycle crunches
jump rope
Then 45 minutes on the eliptical.
My food was exactly the same as Tuesday...lol. I cook a lot at one time and then eat if for a few days. The switching to lower carbs again is making my stomach hurt a little but I know it will go away in a few more days.
I do want say "Thank you Jesus for the the Greek people and their yogurt" OMG.....I HATE yogurt but I love Greek yogurt. The kind I found has 100 cals and 19 grams of protein. So 76 cals from protein and 24 from carbs. I think that's pretty awesome. And it has 0 fat grams. I'm pretty stoked about my new friend:)
I hope everyone has an AMAZING day!!!!

So yesterday was a hot mess. I was at school all day studying for my Algebra test. I ate a turkey burger wrapped in lettuce before I left the house at 9:30 am. Then I was sitting in my psychology class when I started feeling nauseous and shaky. And boom it hit me...It was 4:00pm I hadn't eaten anything since 9:30 that morning. I was so stressed and worried about my test that I completely forgot to eat. (For anyone who doesn't understand why I was stressed......I HATE math...I am horrible at it..and I HAVE to have an A in it this semester b/c nursing school here is very competitive.) Anyway..I was very sad at myself for neglecting my body b/c of a math test.
But today is better. I did an hour of fasting cardio and about to eat breakfast:) I hope everyone has a great day!!!
