Hey guys I absolutely hate doing cardio but I know it needs to get done in order to get ripped. Instead of doing it after my workout I wanted to do between exercises. I own a treadmill and the bowflex dumbbells.

So here is my plan to incorporate cardio into my workout to lose weight.

cardio (poweralk for 5 minutes) The warm-up
exercise 1-Incline Dumbbell press with 1-2 minute rest period 4 sets.
cardio (powerwalk for 5 minutes)
exercise 2-flat dumbell press 4 sets
cardio (powerwalk for 5 minutes)
decline dumbell 4 sets
cardio (5 minutes)
butterflyes 4 sets
cardio (10 minutes for the last one)

Same option with back, shoulders and arms. NO WAY ON LEG DAY.

So by keeping up my heart rate I'm hoping this will work, thanks.

hey man, the plan sounds good, but I would recommond you to concentrate all you resistance training and cardio together, this way, I believe you would give your body maximum stress so the body would grow, which would be more effecient. By taking 5 min break in between really cools down your body after your resistance training to my point of view. But after all, is all up to your goal to decide which path you choose

thanks for your input. My main concern is really to trim down to about 220lbs. I'm currently at 250lbs. I'm happy with my size but just tired of not looking fit. Being BIG isn't cool anymore when you're in your 30's.

When I did do my cardio between exercises I had no time to cool down. I was powerwalking @4 with an incline of 5. What I did notice is that I was able to stay with heavy weights since my muscle weren't burning.

Since I've had elbow pain for about a year now I decided to take a couple weeks of from lifting. So I'm trying to focus on doing cardio when motivated. What I've done is run on my treadmill at 8 or 9 for a minute and the I rest for 2 minutes. I do this 6 times for a total of 12 minutes plus the 5 minute warm up ofcourse.

INTERVALS! INTERVALS! That's the answer. Less cardio, more results.

Add my vote to you.

3min warmup
60sec sprint
1:30-2mins recovery walk
x5-8

Then

Pull up 5x5 1min rest in between sets
Dips 5x10 1min rest between sets
decline abs 5x25 1mins rest

I do this 3 times a week,

Regards,
Jundy
