Here are some photos from comp I just entered. I got 2nd overall. Will have to strive harder for next year. On a side note, I am a bit light on color as you are not allowed to use any type of body coloring or oil. They actually checked all competitors beforehand to see if they had applied any. Silly rule, but what can you do.

You did really well. The other guy might have had a small touch of conditioning on you (hard to tell without any back shots) but I think you had better overall structure and symmetry. What kind of org doesnt allow color or oil? Seems weird......a white guy like me would have no prayer!

You are right, the other guy who is 46 was in the best condition I had seen him. I think as you get older the skin becomes paper thin more easily as he had veins everywhere. However, I lost on the back shots though. My back is my best part but I shake when I line up next to people on stage so for both the back shots I could only do the back pose but could not apply any pressure to my hams, glutes, or calves thus I looked flat in that area, which actually wasnt the case at all. As soon as I get off the stage I can do the pose without any problems, but on stage I start shaking. Really frustrating as it happens every year. I will have to practice by getting other people to line up next to me in the gym for next year -lol.
The reason oil and color is not allowed is that the hall complained about it getting dirty and threatened to charge the federation with the cleaning bill.

Thanks Alex. Size wise I held my own. Perhaps I needed just a little better conditioning like your clients.

Great physique you have. Sounds like you get nerves on stage which is understandable. What helps me is I practice posing for a few months leading up to the show so when the poses are called its like someone telling me to blink...i just do it without thinking.
I think your gonna be huge in Japan(sorry bad Japan joke)!

Thanks for your comments. You are one of the people whose size and conditioning I strive to emulate as you are tall like myself.
I have thought about it a million times over as to why I start shaking. I honestly do not think it is nerves. Before the show started I was asked to come out onto the stage and do some posing so that the officials could get the lightening correct. The guy that won also was on stage with me. Although there was no one in the audience watching, apart from a few people, I started to shake. In practice, I didn't have this issue. I just don't think I can handle the pressure at all. If I think there is a good chance that I could win, I just choke and fall apart. The one year that I didn't have this issue is when I thought that I would not even make the final round.
When practicing you just cannot create the same atmosphere as when you are on the stage. I guess I just need to knock back some straight whiskies and think about something else when I'm out there -lol

Have you ever heard of beta blockers? I have never tried them but I have heard good results. The basically block the body from responding to stress, so you don't get any physical symptoms. That might be a way to go.

Have never heard of the stuff, but I am definitely going to look into it. Thanks for that.

As I mentioned in the first post, the rules stated that you could not use any body coloring or oil. As I am white, it is very hard to reach a dark competition color through just tanning in the sun beds. I thought I did ok in the end with the color, but obviously I am limited by genetics here.

No worries. For the diet I started at 17 weeks out and my macros were:
Protein 230
Carbs 250
Fat 46
At 5 weeks out till end my macros basically stayed at:
Protein 225
Carbs 200
Fat 25
On non-training days carbs were less and on leg day carbs were more. From 8 weeks out cardio was done 3 times a week doing 40 minutes on stationary bike.
