Use them for to lift more weight or would you rather focus more on your grip?

how about both? lift as long as you can until your grip fails, then add the straps.
some people may not agree with me, but i won't stop lifting just because my grip gives out-and it almost always goes before my back is spent.

I agree. My grip sucks with my arthritis and I use them on dumbbell rows and shrugs. My back would never get worked enough without them.

Yea i agree, straps got their time and place. Their good for last sets of deadlifts or rack pulls and i use em for heavy shrugs

Agreed. I use mostly my grip. However you only have 100% effort to give to an exercise. If you are spending 5-10% of your effort on worrying about your grip(including the mental part-concentration), then you aren't putting 100% into the muscle that you are actually trying to work.

I just posted in your previous thread about callus/gloves and mentioned sometimes i feel it on my hands on a heavy deadlift, in this situation I add straps as I dont want to be concentrating on holding my grip, I want to concentrate on getting the lift up!

I just use them for things where I need to put in more effort like the above poster said. I work my grip enough doing pinch work and farmer walks etc so using straps doing things like shrugs is all the more benefit to me.

Never use straps.
Grip strength is everything and having hawk talons is the price and reward all in one.
