I have learned that you really cant be too dark as long as the tan isnt too thick....if you dont put dream tan on correctly, you can be dark enough, but blur your lines. If youre really white (like me), about a million coats of protan works well before the dream tan.

Get in some ridiculously bright light to mimic the stage lighting at your show... If you look dark in that light, your probably dark enough.. Dark at home is one thing but dark enough for the contest is another...

dream tan is banned in the federation im going in due to staining the venue. lol. ill be using pro tan. will a million coats of pro tan just work?

It will work, iv done it successfully without streaking/smearing. It just uses a lot of ProTan! I went through about 12oz of the stuff!

Can never be to dark brah!
I used 6 coats off protan, and i thought i was WAY to dark, but turns out i was just the right colour :D
Aslong as its applied correctly, darkness shouldn't really matter, its when your to light things look a bit badddd...
