Very broad question man, I realize how easy it is to sign up for an account and post a question but you have to be specific, or you will never get an answer.
Pics
Weight
Height
Have you ever worked out before? etc...

Well considering the last show I did, the IFPA Pro USA, the top 3 finishers were 39, 40 and 38, I'd say you could do it. If you've never done it before then you might have some problems figuring out your body and everything, but it can definitely be done. Why do you think they have masters divisions OP? It's for guys like yourself who want to compete even at an older age.

There was this documentary I watched where a guy who was 42 prepared for his first ever bodybuilding show. I can't remember the name of it, but it had Jeff Willet in it.

They may not be natural but look at their age. Tony Freeman, Ronnie Coleman, Vince Taylor way beyond their 40's and still compete.

If you're dedicated enough, yes. I did my 1st show last year at 37.

This place is full of awesome masters competitors.. Dont feel your old at all... This is a pic of pirateman, hes 50 years old and a member here i worked with for his first show ..
The dude took first in the novice overall, masters and open light heavy.. The dude is not only holding his own as a masters competitor, hes beating guys half his age.

Do you think that age changes how you train? Do you have to work a little harder? diet a little harder? that kind of thing. I'm curious from the male perspective....how age impacts your prep.

i'm a youngster, lol, but i know my dad has had to cut back on certain exercises, or the weights he uses on others cuz of his joints starting to get bad on him... he can't do much leg work at all cuz of his knees, and his shoulder really bothers him on chest exercises. but he still puts the effort in diff. ways, like higher rep stuff, less rest, etc.
he's 47 btw

I think age in the sport has a lot to do with how you live your life. There are many awesome men and women out there competing and beating people much younger..
You may have to work harder.... but like anything in life... Some people have to work harder than others.... I have been working with some really good masters competitors and they are winning overalls and more than holding their own proving that age wont hold them back..
