Lots of firefight to be played, but 3 challenges can be done in 1 game. A big cR day overall, and easy challenges, so try not to miss out!


Be Their Huckleberry
Kill 40 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking with the pistol.
Worth: 900cR

Going Outpost-al
Kill 100 enemies on Outpost on Heroic in Firefight Matchmaking.
Worth: 800cR

Bulletproof
Complete 3 Rounds in a Firefight Matchmaking game without dying.
Worth: 1200cR

Go to score attack and click "none of the above" until the map Outpost comes up. Choose Gruntpoclypse, kill 40 of your enemies with your sidearm pistol, and make sure not to die for the first 3 rounds. Finishing the game will net you ~120 kills, which will give you all 3 of these challenges in one game.

One Spartan Army
Kill 400 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking.
Worth: 2000cR

Play 3 more games of Gruntpoclypse and you will easily net this challenge.

Total cR: 4900cR

i arrived late on the halo scene, online anyway, got halo 3 two years ago and played it on/off from a beginner.

i guess im ok now compared to most however the average level of skill in reach is a lot lower than halo 3, due to all the people who bought halo having not played it at all or very little before

not complaining, i like being able to pick up massive multikills, sprees and perfections. still no extermination but ive been close so many times

Playlist Update Oct 5th 2010
Team Slayer
SWAT is taking one in the face (being removed) and the weighting for all other gametypes will be adjusted to fall in line with voting data. Expect – surprise, surprise – more traditional Slayer offerings to appear.

Team SWAT
SWAT gametypes that are removed from other playlists are being incorporated into their own, unique playlist with adjustments made to modes and maps based on voting data (farewell SWAT on Hemorrhage, you sucked and everybody hated you).

Team Objective
Powerhouse will now feature several more gametypes, including 1 Flag and Stockpile. Because Powerhouse is awesome and we don’t get to play it enough.

Multi Team
Rocket Race is being added. You win by staying on the Mongoose and racing to the checkpoints. (Oh, who am I kidding, you’re just going to hop off and try to assassinate people, aren’t you?)

Big Team Battle
SWAT and Classic are being removed and the frequency of Snipers is being reduced based on – you guessed it – voting data.

Arena Doubles
Boardwalk and “Pro” options are both being removed. Default Zealot is being replaced with Arena Zealot, a map variant which features modified initial player spawns and a soft-kill zone in spaaaaaace.

Team Arena
“Pro” options are being removed. Arena Zealot (details above), is being added.

Score Attack
Credit earn rates for Gruntpocalypse are being reduced to fall more in line with other modes.

General Matchmaking
Alongside the major alterations listed above, a myriad of much needed fixes and tweaks to the experience will also go into effect on Tuesday, including a metric ton of small, but annoying bugs and gameplay issues that we’ve identified and earmarked for eradication. As these updates go live, Jeremiah will publish the full details to our Optimatch forum so you can pore over the subtle nuances of each individual change.

"The second salvo for October will include the fix to the current betrayal booting system, bringing it back in line with Halo 3 (three strikes and you’re out), and it will also introduce some significant changes to the Firefight experience, including the removal of friendly fire. that actually sounds quite promising. i hate the booting system as it is, especially with rockets on Firefight. If you are scoring the highest throughout the game, a guarantee you will get booted for any betrayal

The cage and Paradiso are. Asylum has issues like getting on top of the bases (mlg variant fixes that) but I do think Pinnacle is perfect. Cant really mess up Ascension.

I'm getting frustrated that if you stick to one main playlist, you'll only end up playing a rotation of two or three maps... I love playing BTB, but dear God, that playlist ends up as a rotation of Hemorrhage and Boneyard with an occasional Spire or Countdown every 20th or 30th game.

Its easy co-op, bit solo it sucks.

First level is easy because you can run past all the enemies except a few needed for furthering the mission.

Some of the missions I did solo took around 2 hours, although I did not die more than 3x on most because I took my time and made every shot count.

Gruntpocolypse is the only place to grind for Cr and now they are reducing it, so I might as well do some now. Most people I know that are Lt. Colonel did gruntpocolypse hundreds of times.

I keep getting banned for quitting. I get some of the most lagtastic games. Then the final straw was an innocent casualty who got in the line of me and my roommate betraying each other in Firefight.

I step back to wait for his respawn, and another teammate respawns with him. I end up killing them both with one round.

Only thing about this ranking system is it really isn't about skill anymore. It's about who plays the most to get enough credits to rank up. Sure skill plays a small part in deciding if you rank up in 75 games rather than a 100. But there was something about making sure you did your best, like other halo games, so that you didn't go DOWN in rank.

Another thing to differentiate is people who fluff their stats by playing BTB and **** like that.

Halo is al about winning, my k/d is 1.18

Same here. I'm only still playing it to get the last 2 achievements. It'll be the first actual 360 game that I've gotten all the achievements for.

I just do Firefight Score Attack now. I figure I can get almost a grand in credits per game, then just aim for getting the commendations. After that's done and I have the achievements I'm trading it in.

Yeah, I know what you mean but I think part of high regard for Halo 2 was that it was the first Halo game to be intergrated with Live and that was a huge step for the franchise. The Halo games following built on that but Halo 2 was the original and people will always remember that. I will always remember Halo 2 fondly even though it sometimes pissed me off to no end with the rampant cheating that developed on it. At least now the cheating seems a lot more under control because I remember Halo 2 becoming almost unbearable on Live with all the cheaters.

played about 8 games last night only lost 1 and that one i never saw a team mate and got pwned... i was best on team with -2

most assists i have got in one game of reach is 15... hard to beat that...

As long as your K/D is above 1.0 then you are going positive most games, a lot of people with high K/D play with noobs to get people with lower true skill, or play fluff playlists like BTB or invasion. K/D screws objective based and assistance based players. Also encourages people to pick up power weapons that they may not be good with, and worst of all, it encourages camping. This is not COD....

It all depends how you play. We call it being "the Lamb". If you go out first, injure three guys, and die, allowing your teammate to finish them all off and get a triple kill, who gets the credit? Obviously, the guy who got the kills gets the ranking points, but the sacrificial lamb was the one who made it all happen.
