mostly for checking weather, uploading pictures, finding cool places, etc...

battery life/vibrant screen would be the most important factors.

the last computer i bought was one I assembled from parts 5+ years ago, I know nothing of what's currently out there.

reps for help!

I have a Samsung N220.

The battery life is 8 hours on a normal speed but 6 hours on a maximum performance. You can switch between the levels easily.

The cons are it has no CD drive as it is a Netbook. The processor struggles a bit when it comes to heavy apps.

As a someone who owns 4 computers, 2 laptops and a few electronic gadgets (Archos 5 etc), I'd rate it 8.5/10 in comparison with my other babies.

Personally I like the Dell because you can tri boot Windows/OS X/Linux. and it's super light and small.

Currently I'm looking for a netbook with a capacitive touchscreen but there's no fabulous offerings out there right now.

Any netbook is a netbook is a netbook right now. The arms race in netbooks has calmed down, it's now shifted to iPad competitors. Keep an eye out for Cisco's iPad competitor.
