hdmi cord to ps3 help 4 reps

I just got a HDMI cord for my ps3....once i got home i took out the old video/sound components and plugged in the HDMI cord from the tv to the ps3..... I went to the channel HDMI2 which is on my tv and there was sound but no picture... am I going to have to buy the HD components for picture which are green blue and red or am I doing something wrong?

your ps3's settings are still set for your old video source and not HDMI.
