I know I won't see probably anybody answer this question but I guess I'm posting it because I'm really curious. I have no problem at all w/anybody who chooses to do so. In fact my best buddy has been taking sus250 on and off for about 4 years now. I am just curious how common it is in the NPC for guys/gals to do the gas...I have been to a few NPC shows and some guys are absolute freaks and some aren't so it just peaked my curiosity. Thanks for any input and i'll rep!

Ah, I've never heard of steroids being referred to as "GAS." But it's more common than not to use gear in NPC shows. Some guys are so steroid illiterate that they take massive amounts of test and other steroids, even to the degree that they exceed the amount professional bodybuilders use.

Most start out too young and continue down a road that will only provide them with temporary success. A more strategic move would be to use only when you feel that you have your diet, training and solid foundation of knowledge in many aspects of steroid use and bodybuilding in general. My piece of advice to those who want to use is that no matter the amount of gear you're on, it won't do a damn thing to making improvements if you don't have a proper diet that has proven advantageous to your physique. Think of it as a way to capitalize on the nutritional aspect of your training, being able to create more protein synthesis, utilization of nutrition and increased recovery.

Gas? lol. I would say around 90% of guys in the npc are on something that tested shows wouldn't allow, just a guess but it's the majority. At least at the higher level shows.

In the bigger shows, some of the guys are REALLY just too inhumanely huge, and that's where this "gas" can be a suspect. However, I'm not gonna talk for anyone.

gas lol im guess more like 95%.....natural is hard to come by in the NPC unless your genetically supergifted and have lots of muscle maturity

hmm, good to know. I'm doing my first competition at the sevenfeathers classic and Am definitely natural. Always been a strong opposer of 'the gas' or 'juice' more commonly in my area.... Well I look forward to beating people that cheat!

I am lifetime natural and compete in the NPC. I does not matter to me if someone uses or not, as the drugs do not make a great physique. I take pride in being competitive, and beating, most of the "enhanced" competitors I have faced. The above post mentions "cheating"-they ARE NOT cheating in untested NPC contests. They made a choice, as did I to compete against them naturally. Let the best physique win-regardless of who is or isn't using.

Apologies simple guy, and to those who made that choice. It's just my personal view.

It's cool if you're against it, but it's not cheating... It's a decision.

Much respect. I like humble posts like this.

What you're saying is that guys who gear cheat, but how can they cheat? Last time I checked, bodybuilding is based on appearance, not performance.

Personally, if people use at NPC shows that is one thing; but it is cheating to do it at a natural show.

Like I said, just a personal view, but that has to do with my own aspirations vs. someone elses. For me 'bodybuilding' is new. Up until recently its been more just growing past my own selfconsciousness, which I did completely natural and continue to do.

Also, 'gear' has a bad name around here. Based on irresponsible people abusing it with very negative effects.

and yes, if people are using 'gear' in a NATURAL competition, it is cheating. Different orgs have different rules I suppose. I know that some of the greats did their fair share and thats fine for them. For me? its cheating. Whether its against the rules or not. I'm pretty sure most (if not all) of them are illegal, and that makes it cheating on an ethical level as well as a legal one.... again it's all perspective....just my $.02

the term NATURAL is very vague if you think about it. is taking vitamins, creatine, protein powders, NO products, all these supplements crap etc. still make u natural? that argument has been goin on for years.....the true 'natural' is all whole foods 24/7, water, and train hard.

youd be surprised how many NATURAL champs were on GH prior to getting ready for the contest. the lifespan of GH in the system to be detected isnt long. so it wont show up on blood/urine tests....most of those guys are on something in the offseason...reality. not everyone, but a good percentage. its the sport. its the industry. its how it is.....

How legit do you think the polygraph tests are? If they are on GH they would most likely fail a poly whether it's still in their system or not.... I think your right but it just makes me wonder how they pass a poly

There is a large contest called the ironman in my state -- it is "natural". I know the winner from a few years ago and I also know he cheated and used multiple compounds up until a week before the show and passed the polygraph and urine test. He's a total scumbag, looked way better than everyone else, but is a total scumbag.

yup!!! there's PLENTY of gear out there that has a very short halflife...and then it becomes undetectable in tests. i can tell what looks natural and what doesnt. BUT i accept and appreciate both parties. i can care less what people take or dont take. am i perfect? nope.

Do you agree though, that enhanced users should stay in their own leagues and let naturals battle it out on stage together? Granted the professional level of natty's .... assume they don't cheat lol.

That's just a shame. Sad to say the least. Imagining preparing for a pro card for however long it may take and than take runner-up to a guy who was on gear. I'm sure it happens all the time...

thats why the developed the natural shows. but it's all a choice if u wanna jump into a show that has users, or one that doesnt have "caught" users ;)

but the truth is, 'gear' wont just magically make u shredded, ripped, or contest ready. its the diet and training that does that. so, sometimes its all a matter of 'who's worked harder', or 'who has the better genetics'.

i have respect for both parties. all the same passion in my book :)

Did you mean "AAS" Is gas really a term?

I don't know how many are on "GAS", but you'll be hard pressed to find a champion not using some sort of gear, period. I'm sure many try it, few succeed. There is just no comparison between someone that has crossed over and someone that hasn's (save a few genetic freaks)

and I agree. any fool that thinks they can just take gear and magically become a monster is sorely mistaken. I work 2x as hard now as I did naturally....not t osay that I'm not natural now, :)

AMEN! ditto bro. ppl think it's a super orange 'juice' ;) but it aint. u need to work even harder, and your nutrition better be spot on!! not that id know anything about this either ;)

i know so many idiots that come up and tell me what their on, and see no results. then i ask em their diet, they tell me, then i say.....'and u wonder why it aint giving you results moron!'

I'd say 80-85% of male and female BB at the regional level. There are a lot of Bantam and LW men, and LW women that are not enhanced. At the National level that number jumps to 95%.
