you need to do squats, so maybe get a power rack if you have the funds

Right....check out the Sticky FAQ in this forum to answer questions about equipment.....Power Rack is the unanimous choice and therefore I've just got one myself thanks to all the advice here. Also, 300 lb olympic weight set with the 7' bar.

There are injury possibilities with any exercise you attempt, if you do them with poor form.
You have a lot of reading to do. You shouldn't be avoiding lower body work because you are afraid of hurting yourself.

Not sure of your exact goals, but as far as what exercises to do, you can find lots of basic splits in the Programs area of these forums. But yes, you definitely need to work your legs. And keep in mind that putting safety first means proper form and proper equipment. A power rack could honestly save your life (it appears that you may be benching without one currently). Plenty of stories and videos to back this up, including the one about the USC football player about a year ago.
Anyways, back to what exercises you should be doing.
I found one program and tweaked it a bit and sometimes recommend that people who want a typical weight lifting/bodybuilding routine could follow something like this:
Rest 60 secs between sets and 2 mins between exercises
Monday-Back/Bis
Deadlifts- 3x5-8
Pullups/Chinups 3x8 or Lat pulldowns if you cant do these 3x10
One arm Dumbbell Rows 3x8-10 or Bent over rows 3x8
Barbell or dumbbell shrugs 3x8
BB Curls 3x8-10
DB Hammer Curls 3x10 or preacher curls 3x 10
Tuesday-Chest/Tris
Bench Press 3x5-8
Incline Dumbbell Bench Press 3x5-8
Dips 3x8
Flys 3x10
Skullcrushers 3x8-10
Tricep Rope Pushdowns 3x12
Thursday- Legs
Squats 3x5-8
Leg Press 3x8-10
Stiff legged deallifts 3x8 or Lunges 3x8 each leg
Calf Raises 3x12-15 (seated or standing-mix it up)
Friday-Shoulders and abs
Military Press 3x5-8 or Alt. Dumbbell Overhead press 3x8
Lateral Raises 3x10
Front raises 3x10
Upright Rows 3x10
Hanging leg raises-3x15
Crunches-2 max sets
Plank-hold for time.
Cardio can be done Wed and Sat or after any weight session for 20-30 mins.
Please note, I am NOT saying this is the end all-be all workout. I think it is a decent split for someone who is just learning and wanting something to follow. Obviously the user can play with this a bit and switch things around if necessary. Plenty of other options out there, such as push-pull routines, etc.
Edit: I see that you said you wanted a "nice ripped" workout. If getting lean is your goal, you HAVE to diet properly. Please note that diet DOES NOT mean starve yourself. I said diet properly. Cut out the fatty junk, sweets, cokes, etc. To drop pounds quickly you also need to cut out/limit carbs, particularly breads, potatoes, rice. Some will disagree with me, but if your goal is to get "ripped" this will really help. Up the protein and water intake. Stick with natural foods and not processed crap. Make sure to get veggies in there too.

If you really want to get ripped, you can do yourself a favor and get a versa climber or a concept 2 rower. Versa Climbers offer the best full body cardio work-outs I've ever found from a piece of cardio equipment. Versa Climbers are a bit expensive, but if you do it for 20-30 minutes 5 times a week you will be pretty ripped after a few months; of course this is if you eat like you are supposed to :)
Concept 2 rowers also give one heck of a cardio full body workout; problem is most people don't stick to em. Actually, most people don't stick to either, and that's because they are both very tough at first. Of course if you stick thru it the painful first few weeks they will become just as easy to you as your elliptical.
I wasted years on treadmills and ellipticals and always had just satisfactory results.
Once I started doing cardio on Versa Climber and Concept 2 rower, the results were significantly higher; both in cardio health gains and bf%. Versa Climbers usually make people puke their first time.

Power rack. Olympic bar and plates. Squats and deadlifts.
