gotta agree with the elder member here :D

SF and MK have been the same for the past 15 years. nothing really new, or groundbreaking imo... i dont bother with those anymore. MK 1 was awesome back in the day. I used to spend afternoons in a ARCADE playing this... I doubt most younger members even know what a real arcade is anymore.

lulz

no hate, just sayin'

I'm grinding this InFamous down to a few trophies left now before my next Plat. Games darn good and all. Just hate having to replay the same thing with this pick a good side or pick a bad side choice. Because a trophy comes on both sides. So I have to go back in and get the ones I didn't pick.....lame.

Started Act 2 MGS4 and I'm not disappointed yet :D

It's good to see old characters

The game is pretty short, MGS3 felt longer. The last 2 acts in MGS4 are very short, especially the 5th one.

I just got it, beat 1-1 and stuff. Started off as a royal. I keep reading about world tendecys and get confused outta my ass. Do they have a point aside from the xp/difficulty?

Should I care about them right now or just play? DOes it ever explain it?

World tendency also affects which areas you can access and how certain characters will act towards you.

Tbh, just play and enjoy the game for now. If you want to start worrying about trophy hunting or getting specific weapons, then you should worry about world tendency.

PS3 brahs.... i am SERIOUSLY considering buying this for GT5...

My dad and i welded one ourselves when i was in college and he uses it for a Formula 1 game he plays at home on his 73" Mitsubishi TV and i think it would be a great addition to my setup :D

what do you think? Couple this with the Logitech G27 racing wheel/pedal set.

http://www.dazadi.com/images/p200/playseat_72008.jpg

or, the alternative is for me to go buy the steel, and weld one together myself. Its really not too difficult, but these setups are aluminum and collapsible, which would be nicer for storage.

If i build it myself, itll just cost me the price of the raw steel, and welding sticks.... maybe some spray paint. then a seat...

ill have to get some pics of my dads setup. his is sick. he had an old racing seat in the garage, and we built it when i was in college. the only problem is it doesnt collapse and it weighs a ton. lulz

GT set the standard for racing games back in the PSOne days....

GT 2 was one of the best racing games ever made.

Realistic physics, real world cars with accurate physics. The ability to upgrade your car from suspension, to weight reduction, to engine, to tires, etc...

Force feedback in the aftermarket wheels, etc... Wide variety of cars, and very accurate real world tracks.

GT5 so far as mapped just about every real world track with insane accuracy, and designed the physics with each car to react as it would in a real life scenario.

the GT series, i believe, also introduced the ability to license for difference race classes, type "A" type "B" "GT cup, etc...

i am getting a boner just thinking about GT5... lulz..

the more i think about it, the more im leaning towards procuring a racing seat and G27 wheel set on ebay and building my own frame. I could design it to be collapsable in autocad then just weld it together w/ hinges...

The problem is i dont have a TIG welder, so it would have to be steel (own a MIG welder) so it would be very heavy. Maybe i could put it on small wheels or something.

will post pics if i start this project.

Few things about the game I loved....

Mission where you are riding under the helicopter and you have to jump down and defend some power box. There are 3 of them in the mission. On that 3rd one, I've never seen a game put that many bad guys in one screen coming at you, lol. You just spam the hell out of those big power blast nades. But the radar is damn near all red, lol.......epic.

One thing I did find out towards the middle of the game. On those pick a choice options. Pick one, once the trophy pops up. Turn the game off via controller and do not save. Go back into the game and the mission will still be there waiting for you to start it again like new. That's how I got all the ones towards the mid to end of the game.

The 25 kills on a moving train has me wondering what the hell. I know for a fact I have way over 25. More so when you do the 3 train missions. You kill yourself on purpose a few times in those to replay parts to get more kills.

The save 250 people is another one that's like ok.... how many more do I need game???? What seems like doing this countless times. The trophy never ever shows up, lol.

Boss at the end is damn hard. I felt like I was getting my ass kicked all over the place with his 20 hit multi combo's. The story at the end had me mind blown.

I dont see how yall dudes trophy grind man. Seems like it takes the fun outta the game just going back replaying it to get a meaningless trophy. If I get a trophy, cool, if I dont...oh well. I've beaten games and only got about 25% of the trophies/achievement and could care less. Whatever floats ya boat though I guess.

Getting a trophy is a mission and a purpose in the game. It's part of the game itself. Like something you are going to do anyway most of the time. As we talked about before. I will not kill myself over getting one. If I play a game and I really like the game. It's not bad at all. In fact I love playing it more and more. Luckly InFamous just happens to be one of those games. If I was thinking before hand. I would have made multi game saves at the points where you do pick which trophy you are going to get. That way, just load each game up and be done in 3 mins. But this is why we all have many games on our trophy PSN accounts. But not even close to all Plats, lol. Some games I would never ever even play again for a missing bronze.....

yea.. sorta like the way Fallout 3 is with their reach a level with good/bad karma. Only thing is to get plat you still are required to play the entire game one way or the other to reach plat. There are like 3-4 trophies that keep ya from skipping it up.

its a feeling of accomplishment man. When i see that platinum trophy pop up i can honestly say i've "completed" the game.... just beating a game isnt enough for me anymore.

Anyone can play a game and beat it, but until you unlock all trophies, you dont truly "beat" a game, imo.

The trophies that are added to console games just add more to the challenge I think. They are just about as much of part of the game as the campaign and what have you are. It gives you something to work towards for a since of direction which hopefully will = enjoyment. Seeing your trophies total for your gamer card just bragging rights I guess.

Yeah, I see.... In InFamous and other games though. What seems like a grind is also necessary in most cases to obtain things in the game. Like saving people in InFamous earns you points for each person saved. Those points are used to level up your powers. So it all goes back to something you are going to be doing anyway. Only takes 3 seconds to heal a person and move on down the street. But yeah, some games are just brutal and you are just going after a trophy is all. Then you are a trophy hunter :D

It's not whoms a better gamer, it's who has more time dedicated to a game. They aren't usually hard, just fckin annoying or grindfest. No point for me.

They made the game for gameplay, story, and crap. Not to get a plat trophy.

That mother fcuker beat my ass on normal at least a dozen times before i beat him.... not sure what my problem was...

I couldn't do crushing on UC2... way too crasy fro me. said f it so i'm at 98% or something feels bad

ya normal was difficult for me.... not sure why..

I'm on the same boat that trophies/achievements to me are worthless.

It's not whoms a better gamer, it's who has more time dedicated to a game. They aren't usually hard, just fckin annoying or grindfest. No point for me.

They made the game for gameplay, story, and crap. Not to get a plat trophy.

more trophies/plats =/= better gamer.

imo, its more of apersonal sense of accomplishment, than a feeling of being a good gamer...

i consider myself a very casual gamer.

I thought UC1 Crushing was way harder than UC 2 Crushing. UC 2 was a pain in some areas, like the train, but not as bad as 1 was for me.

In case if anyone was wonderin gwhat the update was for

It was only a few weeks ago that Sony released its major PS3 firmware update, v3.40 – which added PlayStation Plus support, Facebook features and more. However, version 3.41 has now gone live, with a “You May Like” section added.

According to Samit Sarkar at destructoid.com, the v3.41 update is much less significant than the previous update, and only seems to add game and video recommendations to the PlayStation Store. Some may be wondering now, what it’s all about.

Well, when you look at a piece of content now in the PlayStation Store, you’ll notice a “You May Like” section on the right hand side. If people actually click on the “You May Like” section, they’ll then be treated to an Amazon-style list of other items.

All these items will be stuff that has been purchased by other PSN users, who bought the item that you were looking at. This is definitely a useful functionality, but surely it could have been rolled into a more feature-rich firmware update than the v3.41?

the more i think about it, the more im leaning towards procuring a racing seat and G27 wheel set on ebay and building my own frame. I could design it to be collapsable in autocad then just weld it together w/ hinges...

The problem is i dont have a TIG welder, so it would have to be steel (own a MIG welder) so it would be very heavy. Maybe i could put it on small wheels or something.

will post pics if i start this project.

You should look up pictures of the Gamechopper. It actually looks really easy to build if you're a half decent metal worker.

I'll probably buy a seat and such, but mainly because half or more the games I play are just racing games. The seats are actually pretty decently priced on Ebay.

Yeah man. It was only available in Holland, and my friend bought it off a Doctor who moved here, but he is moving back to Holland so he sold it for $50 with a Logitech wheel.

I wish I could buy one, but I can't find them aaanywhere. I'll probably just take the $400 hit and order the seat, and then get a wheel from craigslist or something.

I'm doing the amazon trade-in thing. I'm about to ship my games off in a few hours. I'll keep you guys posted to see if its worth it.

So I received my credit today (perfect timing too). I'd recommend it if you guys are willing to wait to get the credit (Only took me a week to receive my payment).

I got $34.50, which was 7 dollars more than what gamestop was gonna give me. The best perk of this program is that you can use the credit on anything amazon sells instead of having to buy something game oriented from gamestop.

And from my understanding you can trade in DVD's / Books too! If you have any questions hit me up anytime...

There's really only one boss in the game. There's a lot you can't do much about. He's moving all over the ground throwing energy at you that grabs you. You go flopping around like a fish on the ground. Stand up and he's then shooting bolts at you. You do get chances to run, dive out of the way. It just feela very over whelming when you get into midway part of the battle. When those flying guys are after you and all the rest, etc...

watch mid way to ending...sh*t gets real for those who have't seen, lol.. just so much going on. The lucky thing about this is, you die he does not come back full power again. Otherwise....good nigth sweet prince.

Dragon Age: Origins Awakening Expansion review

Just finished the Awakening expansion for Dragon Age: Origins. And i have to give this a solid 9.5/10.

They take the story from the original and expound upon it. The expansion begins where the story from Origins left off. There are 7 new companions you meet along the way, and numerous new weapons and armor, as well as new spells and abilities.

The boss fights are actually far more challenging, and require some strategy. Still fairly easy coming off DA:O on hard difficulty.

there were a couple plot twists, and the end left it open to future expansions.

I would HIGHLY recommend this to any Dragon Age fan. it was worth every bit of $39.99. It took me roughly 12 hours to complete the expansion, start to finish. Though i did the majority of the side quests.

What kind of magic combos are you using?

I imported my Rogue from DA:O at level 21. I used mages, Anders and Valera (sp?) in my party at all times, both set as healers. it was probably overkill, but the damage i put out with my rogue, i could down anything while they healed/casted on enemies. Setting "tactics" for the AI is key. Both mages were set to ranged/healer or support. and my warrior was set to agressive/defender.

I bought two weapons for my rogue, id have to log in to get the names of them again, but i was crit hitting for over 200 dmg about every other swing, and normal damage around 160. One was fire based, and one was cold based, each were 180g.

Sony Developing Successor to Blu-ray

by Scott Lowe Today Sony in partnership with Tohoku University announced they have developed a new laser technology that will allow them to encode discs with twenty five times the data of any standard Blu-ray disc, with a total capacity of 1TB on a single disc.

The all-semiconductor laser technology uses a extremely condensed wavelength of 405 nanometers and generates high-powered optical pulses at three picoseconds (three-trillionths of a second). The nitty gritty technical details aside, this ultimately could mean big things for a next generation disc format, particular for high definition films and television and gaming.

Currently a standard dual-layer Blu-ray disc provide 50GBs of maximum data capacity, which as it stands, is rarely ever reached by games or movies. However, with up to 1TBs of data at their disposal, publishers could pack multiple titles on a single disc. With that much space, as The Examiner reports, studios could pack up to fifty HD films onto a single disc or entire seasons of television series.

The potential applications for games are also pretty substantial; with more space comes more capacity for more elaborate graphics, longer games, uncompressed multi-channel audio, more elaborate gameplay, or as we mentioned with movies and television, multiple games on a single disc.

While Sony did not announce any clear cut plans for the technology in terms of implementation on a consumer level, they did note that there are "high expectations" for the new laser system and that it could be particularly valuable in reducing the size of devices due to it's smaller light source.

All things considered, it seems fairly obvious that it will be years before this technology becomes commercially available, let alone adopted as a standard, but when the time comes it could lead to some pretty interesting developments in high-fidelity, high-capacity disc-based media.

Imagine what metal gear games would be like on a disc like this. 300 hour MGS would be epic.

when buying tv's make sure they dont lag. I'm not too sure if thats an issue anymore with newer TVs but I sure hate going to a friends house having to play on a laggy tv. My friends don't "see" it because they are used to it or they aren't competitive enough to notice it (heck I can even notice it with new super mario wii).

From the specs listed on that tv above, it says resolution 1920x1080 (1080p). If that's the native resolution I think it should be pretty good.

It's still so odd to see MGS1 talked about. I got that game Dec 25th 1998 for Christmas. I started playing it the next day. I was so incredibly fascinated by it. But I never knew it would become what it has over these years. With MGS2, it pissed me off. It was like no Snake for 75% of the game and I hated Raiden's personality to death ( whiny little bitch ). Then running around nude all over the place, lol. Even the boss fights seemed dumb and fake. Then came MGS3, the epic king with Big Boss!

You might, and probably will enjoy the gameplay. But you will be lost as fukk trying to follow the storyline if you havent played the first 3. I found myself wondering wtf they were talking about, and I've played the first 3 multiple times....just was not anytime recent to when I played the 4th. I think I'm gonna try and study for taking Comp TIA's Security+ Exam. Being that I already have the first two.. A+ and Network+. Dantes Inferno is severly underrated... one of my favorite games for PS3. Just like God of War, but takes the story from Dante Aligheris "Inferno and puts it into visuals that will blow your mind....

If you were already putting on your camouflaged pants and face paint to gear up for the release of the next SOCOM, pump the brakes, kid; SOCOM 4 has been delayed.

depends really on what kind of fighter you want. If you want something fast paced, then MvC2 or blazblue continuum shift would be your pick. If you want something slower than ssf4 would be the best candidate.

I'd recommend the fast paced games if you plan on playing with friends occasionally. There are many more "hype" moments especially when beer is involved since "timing" isn't as critical as it is say ssf4 or tekken.

So a guy can platinum in it in 2 platinums? And then do the add ons later?

what games do you speak of?

Oct 19 - Fallout: New Vegas
Oct 26 - Starwars: The Force Unleashed 2
Nov 2 - Gran Turismo 5
Nov 9 - Call of Duty: Black Ops
Nov 16 - Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

Castlevania - Lord of Shadow somewhere in there, too.

Dragon Age: Origins - Golems Of Amgarrak DLC Revealed

BioWare has revealed the latest DLC add-on for Dragon Age: Origins.

Golems Of Amgarrak was revealed at Comic-Con and will be a dungeon-based expansion where players will delve into the deep underground to save a missing dwarven expedition.

Players will be able to import their character from Awakening or Origins into the DLC or create a brand new high-level character.

You and your band of heroes will have to fight against tough enemies including encountering an “all-new terrifying creature.”

Brand new items and powerful loot will be included in the expansion allowing you to transfer the rewards into the Awakening and Origins campaign.

BioWare is describing this DLC as “an advanced challenge for even the most experienced adventurers.”

ps3trophies says 2-3 playthroughs... its not bad, you can plat it without doing any of the DLC, but theres like 22 trophies in DLC alone.

the DLCs are great, if you're already beaten the game. more story, more history, etc..

Well I just finished Dragon Age: Awakening. For starters, this DLC is much more than your average add-on. It is essentially a sequel to Origins and there's tons of content. There were no shortcuts taken in this dlc expansion. I put in 20 hours to finish, more than I expected to get from a DLC.

So what made this game good? There is a whole new set of characters you meet, around 7, and I liked the new ones more than I did the Origins characters. The new skill trees are very gratifying. The graphics are great and the character animations in battle are amazing. The antagonists were very well developed and found them all interesting. It was a very engrossing story and a pleasure to play all the way through. I really liked the plot twists and the development of the dark spawn saga. There are many epic moments and decisions you have to make and the decisions I made came with consequences.

I began on normal and after 8 hours into my 20 hour game time, I upped the difficulty to nightmare (one after hard). It was a just right fit. I had to micro-manage my mage and archer to function effectively while staying out of range of the frontlines, while simultaneously drawing aggro away from them with my tank, and my rogue, well he has a lot of evasion + damage, so kicked ass and took names. I am definitely sold on this whole game series.

Thats funny because I imported my rogue from DA:O. He could stand toe to toe with any creature on nightmare and evade, evade, and evade while dropping bombs. And I went archer with one of my other rogues and I have to say, the archer tree is sick with rapid aim and a good bow.

Totally agree, took me around 16hrs i think to finish on hard. I always find myself micro managing my healer, they like to blow mana like monica lewinski....

Fantastic DLC, worth every penny. I actually enjoyed it more than the original game.

FYI, i downloaded Lelianas Song, Darkspawn Chronicles, and Return to Ostagar, if youd like to share again.

Yea, Rogue and Mage are the most fun to play for sure. Warrior is boring as hell... Last night i finished the landsmeet for the 6th time, lol. but finally accepted Logain to the party to get the trophy. Logain sucks, terribly.... I miss Alistairs goofy ass.

Will take me another two partial play throughs to platinum, but ****, worth it. game is too fun.

Still missing a few of the Origin trophies, All the romance trophies (im always a dick to the wimmenz) and siding with the Cult of Andraste, and Siding with the Templar trophies.

Might just grab all the dragons age DLC when this new one drops.

I have played through the game twice 1 as a good warrioer & once as a bad rogue, bad rogue was so much fun. but only did awakenings as the rogue.

Going to start a mage & be a goodie two shoes & rip threw the game + awakenings, i have 96 hours logged in this game so far.

If a guy wants to start DO: A, and hasn't really played any of these type of games since Baldur's Gate, and Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn (am I aging myself here), what class should a guy pick?

So each class is really different. Heres why:

Warrior: You are the tank, you need to pay close attantion and keep threat level high or your AI team members will get aggro. Rogues are the worst for this. The AI blows its Stamina wad destroying enemies. so its tough. Also, you pretty much dont do a whole hell of a lot of damage. Though, some cutscenes when killing major bosses are sick when you play the warrior. (high dragon in Frostback Mtns. and Flemeth dragon battle) comes to mind.

Rogue: You have a couple options with a Rogue. You can basically choose Assassin, Duel Wield, Ranged. I've played both. Dual Wield/Assassin are the most fun. You put out SERIOUS damage but do draw a lot of aggro. If you upgrade your weapons/armor the right way, and focus on hostility reducing armor its really fun to watch the health bars drop so fast. Also this is key, because only Rogues can unlock chests. Also the cunning skill helps with some Intimidate/Persuade situations during dialogue that affect the story. Any class can do this, but its best to do it with a Rogue as other classes its wasted points.

Mage: Its a toss up for me whether or not this is my favorite. You can play a Healer, or damager basically. If you can, pick up Blood Magery specilization and destroy anything on the battlefield with no issues. I was dropping 2k damage bombs with my blood mage. If you play healer, 99% of boss battles are beyond simple.

Keep in mind you can switch party members at will. When you switch to another party member, the AI tactics change, and you choose how they play. Make sure to set the Tactics for your characters and find what works best for you.

My suggestion for a first playthrough is a Rogue, then Mage, then Warrior. Based on fun to play.

If you like RPGs, and dont mind a lot of story/reading DA:O is one of the best games there is out there. Much like Oblivion.

Dual Weild rogue is awesome, or healer like you said is another great choice, with this game combat at first is somewhat odd? Micromanaging & what not when i first started i put it on easy just to hack & slash because i hated the managing crap. As time went on i was up to hard & tearing sh*t down.

Enjoy the game bro & get trophys later...that might be impossible for a trophy whore as yourself to do. :P

when you get to the open world map, do the Stone Prisoner off the bat. Shale is a beast of a character, my personal favorite besides Morrigan.

It's a 2 stage thing. You have get the rod from the Merchant at Sulcher's Pass. Then travel to Honneleath and do the story in the town. Shale is awesome. She beat a boss dragon by herself for me.
