I'm a freshman in high school and going to be a sophomore in about 3 and a half months. I play football and I want to weigh about 175 pounds by the first game of next season. I am going to be playing varsity and I need to get my weight up without losing any mobility. Here are my stats. I will be following WS4SB to get bigger. I have done this in the past, and I didn't gain much weight. I then realized that it was because my diet was HORRIBLE. I have 6 weeks before we start 2-a-days and I want to be at least 168 pounds by that time. Anyway, here are my stats as of now:

Wow, nice genetics/athleticism. You could easily go D-1 if you work hard and stick to the plan. You should get some vids of squats. That's impressive for your size.

man thats cool. i'm going to be a sophomore too this year. D-End for me though. Your diet looks solid too. The only thing I would do personally is to eat cottage cheese or drink casien before bed. milk is good, but cottage cheese and commercial casien work better for me. Then again, your stronger than me regardless so what do i know ^_^

thanks. and I originally forgot to mention that I was box squatting, not free squatting. But the box was about 1" below parallel.

oh cool. It might be a better idea because milk tends to have a lot of fat as well. I'll probably add some cottage cheese to my diet here and there.

Brb ending self; 15 year old kid on internet physically superior to me in every way except height.

If you don't like cottage cheese you could alternatively use greek or regular (but unsweetened) yoghurt as a pre-bed food, has even more protein than cottage cheese generally and better taste.

Next week, I want to do more of a mass-based workout. I want to get my legs bigger. Although they are already a decent size, I want to really have running back legs and get them huge. I might do this for about 3 weeks.

Motivation (Joe Haden)
Me and Joe Haden are from the same area. I used to work out with him and his father on a daily basis (who is a former bodybuilder and is a current personal trainer). I can say from first hand experience that this guy is THE TRUTH. I could tell he was going to go to the NFL from the time he was a freshman in high school. I went to a combine about a month ago and I did well there and received an invite to the Ultimate 100 Combine. It's being held in New Jersey this Friday. I have finals every day this week for school, but they are over at 11:20 a.m. The combine starts at 3:00 p.m., so hopefully I do well up there. I might try to talk my mother into driving up to DeFranco's gym while we're there. I think you have to set an appointment though. I'm not sure. Wish me luck.

I was tired as HELL today. I didn't go to sleep until about 1:40 this morning. As soon as I got in the car to come home from school, I went to sleep. When I got home, I went to sleep. After about 3-4 hours of sleeping, I woke up for about 30 minutes to get ready to work out. Before I worked out, I ended up going BACK to sleep for about 2 hours. I finally got up and got in my workout. I had to do a couple sets of bench presses to really jump start my body. This workout was hell too. This was probably the best upper body workout I've had in a while.

*I've also gained 3-5 pounds within the last week and a half. Last night I weighed myself before bed, and I was at 165.2 pounds. I don't care if it was at night. Before my workout today, I weighed myself and I was at 162.6 pounds. That was immediately after waking up, and I was hungry as ever. Regardless, I'm pretty excited to see my weight gains increasing. Last week I was at 160 pounds even.

Motivation (David Sinisi Box Squatting 545 lbs)
This video made me wake up and work out today. When I saw this video, the only thing that was disappointing was that today wasn't my scheduled lower body day. I wanted to do some squats after seeing this. Overall, this got me so psyched to start my workout. This also makes me want to meet DeFranco that much more. I talked to my mother about working out with him and she said that she'll see what she can do over the summer. <object width="500" height="405"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/X1GDnesw0AU&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999&border=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/X1GDnesw0AU&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="500" height="405"></embed></object>

Feedback
So I know you're wondering why the hell my workout is so out of order. It's because I was working out with the football team and when i was scheduled to do a certain exercise, it was occupied. It pissed me off. That's why my lifts seem so low on my bench press and DB bench. I was already burnt out from all of the other exercises. I tried to do as best as I can to keep them in order, but it was pretty hard. They also made us do a certain set/rep scheme. we had to do 10-8-6 on everything but the curls. But I only limited myself to the exercises in the WS4SB workout. It wasn't really as bad as it seems though.
In NJ, the combine went well, although it was literally ALL DAY. It was a 4-hour drive down and back. It went from 3 p.m. to 1 in the morning. I was exhausted afterwards. I wasn't really happy with my testing times and scores, but I did my thing in the 7-on-7s and the 1-on-1s. Hopefully I'll get an invitation to go to Oklahoma. I didn't get to go to DeFranco's gym... I was forwarded to a voice mail. But overall, it was a good experience.

Motivation
This dude is a BEAST. I don't care what anyone says about his coverage skills... Taylor Mays will make an immediate impact in the NFL. It's as simple as that. I F'n LOVE the way he plays the game. He tries to kill someone every time he makes a hit. Now I know I haven't been on here in a while. A LOOOOTTTTTT of stuff was going on... including the season... In short, here's an overview: I finally got my first scholarship offer from University of Virginia. The down part, however, is that I have been hurt literally all season! we just played our 5th game of the season this week and I couldn't play. I broke my ankle in the preseason and had to sit out for the next 6 weeks. and the week when I was able to come back (week 4), I came down with tonsilitis (hurts like HELLLL). I couldn't eat or drink because it hurt so bad to swallow. my tonsils were so swollen it was crazy. I am just starting to recover from it. I also lost 20 pounds from not eating and was EXTREMELY dehydrated. I went from 165 pounds down to 145. Right now, I am starting to slowly gain it back. I am at 152 pounds right now. Hopefully it doesn't take much longer to get my weight back and for me to start practicing again. Im VERRY sorry for not writing in my journal for so long. But im back!

How did you go about being recruited? Did colleges find you, did coaches market you, or did you send tape out?

I actually was fortunate because my mom is VERY famous up there at UVA. Shes a hall-of-fame women's basketball player as well as an All-ACC hall of fame women's basketball player. She set A LOT of records up there as well.

but aside from her successes, believe it or not, I dont even have any tape to send out right now. Over the summer, I went to their football camp (including many other camps) and they kept tabs on me. Over the summer, I filled out a lot of college questionnaires (you can find them on the college websites) and I made a lot of calls to coaches. That's how I became so close with different colleges. basically, my parents and I marketed me. colleges NEVER find you. You have to make yourself known. and NEVER rely on a coach to do it for you. I was lucky because even though I didn't have a tape, I was offered a scholarship because i have strong ties with the school and a good bloodline. so my advice to you is over the summer, go to at least 5 different college camps and maybe 2-4 one-day camps (i.e. Football university, national underclassmen combine), and build stong relationships with the coaches and you'll be fine.

No!!! there's no such thing as too early. the earlier you get started, the better. my father actually used to push me to do it last year by giving me 5 dollars for every 15 college questionnaires i filled out per week lol. but by all means, do it as soon as possible.

good. and if you can, have a good number of local schools as well. it will be easier on both you and them. if you have local schools, you can go to their camps over the summer. and when you do that, they'll already have an idea who you are, and keep a closer eye on you.they will also have easier access if they want to go to one of your games. also, don't limit yourself to d1 schools. have a couple of d1-aa and d2 schools on your list as well

I tried to practice yesterday and was getting my ass KICKED in oklahomas... I NEVER GET RUN OVER IN OKLAHOMAS! ****ing embarrassing.... at least my coach knows that im sick. I practiced yesterday for the first time it seems like in forever. I couldn't do much though. On Monday, I practiced and the trainer at the school got mad because she told me not to do it. I finally convinced her to let me practice, but she doesn't want me hitting yet. I am still sick, which means I'm still weak. So far, I am at 151 pounds. I gained 6 pounds out of the 20 pounds I lost back. We have a game today (which I can't play in). The game's at 2:30. Hopefully we get this W. our team is horrible right now.

P.S.: Going to start Bill Starr's 5x5 on Monday to try and get my strength back. Maybe eating ****loads of food and doing a 5x5 will help me get my weight and strength back.

Hey man, if you aren't already start taking a mutlivitamin or a immune health supplement. I have to make sure I get that in once a day during the football season or I get sick quite a bit, might be placebo but it works for me lol.

Start taking in a lot of water too. I was sick a for around 2 weeks, (and actually threw up last night) but I am finally getting healthy.

Hope ya get healthy man! Keep eating and lifting.

thanks brah. I actually started my weight gain diet today. gotta get these pounds back.and im definitely going to look into those multivitamins. the hard part is going to be convincing my dad to let me buy it. hes not a strong believer in a lot of supplements. it was like pulling teeth just to get him to let me buy Myoplex shakes, and he still won't even let me get 100% whey because he thinks its too "concentrated".

Here's my workout schedule:

Workout A
Squat 3x5
Bench 3x5
Deadlift 1x5
Weighted Sit-Ups 2x15

Workout B
Squat 3x5
Military Press 3x5
Power Cleans 3x5

*I will be starting VERYYYYYYY conservative on my lifts. and when i say conservative, i mean conservative! since i lost so much strength from being sick, the last thing i want to do is hinder it even more. for squats, i will start with 150 lbs, bench 135 lbs, deadlift 190 lbs, power clean, 125 lbs. that may actually be too conservative, but i'm willing to take the chance

*On monday, I will do workout A. Wednesday, workout B. Friday, Workout A. the following week, I will do Workout B on monday. Wednesday, Workout A. Friday, Workout B... etc.

I will also be trying this new CNS priming workout before each workout that is supposed to enhance quickness. My former personal trainer told me to try it as a warm-up. he said after performing it for about 3-5 months, his clients dropped about .2 seconds off of their original 20-yard shuttle time. hopefully this works. It goes like this:

Pogo Jumps: 2x15
Lateral Line Jumps: 2x20
Foot Taps: 2x6-8 sec.
One's and Ten's: 1 set
*Rest 30 seconds between each set and 60 between each exercise.

I will be doing this before every workout and I will let you know how I feel afterwards. If you want, I can PM you the PDF version of it. just PM me and I will reply with it.

just make sure you have your questions written down incase the conversation dies. make sure you address the coach by his last name. try not to act nervous or uninterested. if they don't pick up, leave a voicemail.

I called a dozen coaches today, and I left a dozen voicemails. Not one picked up lmao. Can you PM me the PDF of that CNS warmup you had in your last post?

Thoughts

Today, we had lifting in the morning at 9:00 and practice at 10:30. Today was my first official full practice in about 8 weeks (we are in week 7 of the season now). I'm sick and on top of that, I'm out of shape. I had a horrible practice. In defensive individuals, I was getting my ass handed to me! There were recruiting scouts at practice today. The coach talked to me after practice today, and he said that I "have a lot of work to do". He also told me that he was going to ask the scouts to give me a rivals account, but he wouldn't have felt right if he did that after they had seen how I performed today. WHAT THE HELL! I'm on a mission. This season is basically in the bag, but next season, I'm going to literally be the #1 topic on every opposing teams' gameplan! I guarantee it.

**Thanks to PCFootball24 for the log format. I still have it incase you were wondering.

Practiced again today. I was back at it. Laid a couple big hits, but I also got my ass lit up a couple of times at running back because of my weight and strength not being 100% yet. I'm also sore as hell right now from getting hit lol. But regardless, I had a much better practice than yesterday. I also might be starting this weekend at running back. The senior that was starting tore his achilles and it's just me, a freshman, and this other senior fighting for the starting spot. Hopefully I get it. Damn it feels good to be back out there!

I found out after the first workout that doing this as well as practice will have me sore as hell. I was going to work out this morning before school, but I was so sore, I couldn't even do it. My hamstrings are screaming right now. But I managed to get it in tonight instead. The squats were kind of tough (I go ATG)... but then again so were the cleans and the presses. It's probably because I'm sore and not at full strength. I'll be alright though. I will try to move up in the squats next workout, but if I'm too sore, I might stay at the same weight.
One thing i will say is that I am already seeing my size coming back after only two workouts. I weighed in at 158 today before practice. olny 7 more pounds to gain back baby!!!

Didn't have practice today... The field was rained out. I watched my brother play his game (He is the starting quarterback on the JV football team at my school). He's a freshman this year. He had a hell of a game. 3 touchdowns (2 passing, 1 rushing), about 150 yards passing and maybe 30 yards rushing. No INTs. His main sport is basketball, but the varsity football coaches are already looking at him for next year.
