Well guys, I'm finally starting Martial Arts after I've wanted to for a while. I finally have the time and money to allow myself to take classes. I will be taking Kempo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Yesterday I had a Private Lesson with my friend and the instructor to show us some basic stuff that we'd be doing in class and to see if we were definitely interested. I have to work on my flexibility a lot because ever since I hurt my knee and have been working out my body has got a lot tighter.

Anyway yesterday we worked on the following... Stretching, basic Left, Right Slip Right and then added in a front kick. We moved on to Hitting mits while moving around with that combo. Then he showed us some Jiu Jitsu had each of us go in eachothers guards while the other scissor kicked our leg and hip to switch position and to transition it into a what I'm guessing was a sort of arm bar from the mount. We then grappled for a little bit on our knees and I submitted my friend in the move that he had just showed us a little earlier lol.

Overall the class was great he seems very nice, nothing cocky or conceited which I was afraid of. I start my actual first class with other people tonight. It's an adult class and all levels train at once which is going to suck for me because when we grapple I will get my ass kicked by higher ranks but I guess that might make me learn quicker.

I'll keep this updated after my classes and after my training routines.

I'm planning to go to these classes 2 times a week and lift 3 times a week. I also do cardio at night.

Had my first class today with others:
Started with warm ups -- Jumping Jacks, Push Ups, Crunches and Leg lifts. We went on did some sprints.

We then worked on some Kempo strikes which I find the footwork to be the hardest part about it.

Then we worked on some mount escapes and some submissions/mounts.

Then we grappled each other starting from full mount one time and then from the guard. There were black and green belts in my class so it wasn't the easiest time and it only made me look worst lol. But anyway I think learning around these guys will just make me learn quicker.

Can't wait to feel how sore my chest is going to by from having knees in them and I also got kicked in the head when grappling by another group haha felt good.

Looking forward to my next class on tuesday.

If that's the belt, it isn't BJJ in anyway.

Ok and I'm telling you I'm taking a mixed training that incorporates Kempo and BJJ and that's how the class is set up...got a problem? go ****ing talk to the school about it I didn't make this **** up

No reason to get angry man.. Straight fact is that isn't a belt within BJJ, so it sounds like the school you're training at is what is known as a "McDojo" or a school that claims to teach BJJ but doesn't actually. Ask your instructor what his belt lineage is.

And if you want to be learning real BJJ, New York has tons of BJJ gyms out there don't stick around with "Mixed Kenpo".

i know sorry for flipping out on your I've been having a bad day that seems to keep getting worst.

but anyway the place seems pretty legit I'm just doing a free couple weeks for now and it actually seems like a good place to train at. this is my first time taking any MA so I feel like any gym will be the same since the beginning is a slow learning process. The place I train at is actually quite popular out here at there are a few locations out there but it was convienent as it's 2 blocks away.
