I started out at roughly 340 pounds and am now down to 320 and about 2 months into my new life style so far. I'm 6' 3" and my current weight is 320 but my ideal weight is 220-240. I would like to meet my goal by the end of 2010 no later than feb 2011. IMO that goal seems obtainable as long as i stay on track and keep focused. Like i said i'm only two months into my life change and so far i fell great and have lost 20lbs. I have a ton of energy and i'm starting to notice a difference in in my appearance, the way my cloths fit, and my self esteem. As of right now i have been to a weight management doctor and i'm on a weight loss plan for 1500 calories per day with lots of cardio and a few exercises. So far i bike 5-10 miles per day, jog / brisk walk 2 miles, 2 sets of 25 push-ups, 2 sets of 25 sit-ups, 2 sets of 25 jumping jacks, 2 sets of 25 calf press, two sets of 25 vertical bench press with 60 lbs, two sets of 25 butterfly press with 60 lbs, two sets of 25 left arm curls with 30 pounds, two sets of 25 right arm curls with 30 pounds, & two sets of 25 both arm curls with 60 pounds. As of right now i'm working out 5-6 days per week and its feels amazing. Just thought i would share so my experience so far and my goals i have set for my self. I guess my only questions would be 1. are there any supplements i should be taking to help shed the extra weight and help build lean hard muscle? I mean should i start taking creatine and protein supplement to help build muscle. 2. are there any things i should focus on more or less and what else should i add to my exercises to help with my weight loss and muscle gain? I know i need to join a local gym and get a trainer but i can't until after july i have other financial obligations right now. 3. WISH ME LUCK. I plan on keeping a journal of some sort with my measurements and my process along the

Good Luck man. Having been there myself you can do it.

You asked about supps. At this point, there really is no point in taking any cutters, etc. You will get far and away more benefit from a solid diet and cardio than anything you can take with the amount you have to lose.

Also, despite what you might think, you already have a LOT of lean muscle mass. You have to so that you can carry around the weight you do. I was at almost 400, but had 200 pounds of lean mass. Your workout goal should not be to gain lean mass yet (that will come later) but rather to hold onto every scrap of muscle you already have. It is a subtle, yet absolutely necessary difference.

I found, and a lot of others have as well, that despite what the book says about using high rep lifting to lose weight, that low reps, going heavy as you can in the 6-8 rep range, will help you keep all that muscle mass you have. Then, once the fat is gone, you can chance to a more muscle gain style workout and you will explode in good mass.

I have changed my work out schedule just a bit let me know what you think.... On Mon, Weds, & Fridays heavy weight training then on Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, & Fri hardcore carido work outs. I'm hoping this will help me drop some of the extra weight and help build LEAN STRONG MUSCLE. From everything i can gather from the site people recommend taking different products to help build the muscles stronger and faster with little to no recovery time. I have been looking at the BSN products and was wondering which ones i should truely take? BSN SYNTHA-6 - Vanilla Ice Cream, BSN True-Mass - Vanilla Ice Cream, BSN Lean Dessert Protein Shake - Whipped Vanilla Cream, BSN CELLMASS - Grape Cooler, & BSN N.O.-XPLODE - Grape. These are the products i was thinking about picking up but i'm wondering if their are a few i don't need or if their is another brands that are cheaper and better??? Any input would be greatly appreciated because to be honest i'm new to body building and the whole exercise thing. I'm not only looking to lose weight but also put on some muscle in the process and in the long run become a healthier person. Let me know what you think about those products and if their is one that i dont need. Also input on my new workout schedule would be appreciated as well.

Thanks- Mel

Well so far my journey has been amazing and I have went from 344 pounds to 312 pounds in just 81 days. I'm no where near my weight loss goal but man i feel amazing. I have lost 4 % body fat, 4 inches off my waist, 2 inches in my chest, 1 inch in my neck, gained 1.25" on my arms, and have tons of energy now. I changed up my work outs a little MON = Chest, Arms, and Shoulders w/ 5 miles of cardio on the bike, and 2 miles of jogging on the tread mill. Tues 10 miles of cardio on the bike, 2.5 miles of jogging on the tread mill, & 45 mins to 1 hr of high cardio work outs in the morning and a 5 miles of cardio on the bike and 2.5 miles of jogging on the tread mill at night. Wed = back, stomach, & neck w/ 5 miles of cardio on the bike, and 2 miles of jogging on the tread mill. Thurs = 10 miles of cardio on the bike, 2.5 miles of jogging on the tread mill, & 45 mins to 1 hr of high cardio work outs in the morning and a 5 miles of cardio on the bike and 2.5 miles of jogging on the tread mill at night. Fri = weight training from head to toe roughly 2-3 hrs & 5 miles of cardio on the bike. SAT & SUN i rest and do absolutely nothing i just try and keep my calories below 1500 on these days. I'm hoping to be down to 240 by OCT no later then DEC. I have to thank all those around me who said i would quite in a month and would give up. They give me the energy to push forward each day. I love the look they give me when i tell them i have lost 30+ lbs and i can tell they have gained weight. I know i have to just keep moving forward and keep smashing my goals. THANKS for all the info and help BB.COM i really appreciate it
