Yo whats up everyone?
So once in a while I come across and reading or info that explains that one between the ages of 16-21 (ideally they say) can help expand or stretch their rib cage by doing DB pullovers and breathing squats. Is this true at all? I never see it talked about here and am curious if it is a plausible method to help make oneself a little bit wider. I would assume for the natty person that they would want to be as wide as they can be and so would do what they could to achieve it. I was just curious if anyone knows if it is actually a plausible and concrete method. I was just curious so I thought id throw it out there.
thanks!

You cannot change your skeletal structure - this one gets filed under broscience :) To get wider you must build the muscles and create the illusion that you are wide as f*ck. Like me for instance i wasnt born with a tiny waist but was given wide shoulder structure, so to combat the waist i have been focusing on medial delts, lats and quads to give the illusion that my waist is smaller then it really is.

yep, it's all about illusions. Dead hangs from a pull up bar while breathing heavy will help in getting the "feel" on how to inflate your rib cage though...

I figured it was broscience as such but I thought id through it out there to see if it had any substance to it.
Thanks

Lol the dreaded bro-science..i.e working lower lats and and extensions help shape the quads.
Has anyone tried to explain to them that they dont exist..its your structure and muscle bellies that determine how you look

The more I learn the more I am amazed at how much I had fallen into things like that what you said ronin. Praise the Lord for you guys and vast knowledge flow here on the boards.
Its gotten to the point where I consult only what some people say here on the boards on from websites such as bodyrecomp or 3djmusclejourney as so much of what I find via google or what have you is "broscience" to the max.

Arnold said it. Therefore it is true. No more questioning the king.

Thanks man! Actually that pic was taken during my last week (or maybe two weeks) of my cut so it may be a little better now.
Bulk is coming well, I am considering starting a log here on the forums. My body weight is 205ish and my upper four abs are blurry but can be seen. Weight is coming steadily and I feel that my fat gains have kept low. Doing push/pull/legs split alternating between heavy and hypertrophy days. All things seem to be rollin nicely.

Doesn't work. Tried it years ago as a teenager. All the books and mags wrote about it. I did tons of those "breathing squats" and pullovers supersets "while my cartilage could still expand as a teenager" and it didn't work. I know of no one who ever said this worked.

I think that the DB pullovers play a role in making you wider but it has exactly nothing to do with changing your bones. I think in all his wisdom, Arnold discovered that stretching helps to grow muscle size!!
Also, Arnold was probably not full grown yet when he figured these things out. His bone structure almost certainly changed between 16 and 23 years old. That combined with employing a stretching protocal, even accidently, caused his width!

I'll just leave this here, I do like heavy breating db pullovers.

So, the article states that the rib cage can grow while the athlete is in his growth years. Wow....amazing insight! My advice. Dont Read into things on Tmuscle too much....
Thanks for posting it though. No offense aimed at you.
