A have a quick question maybe you guys can give me some insight.

I use a variety of cardio machines in the gym, primarily elliptical.

I'm looking at getting something for home use, however - most home equipment is shoddy, unstable, uncomfortable - or I can't get a good workout in.

So, i'm looking for something more commercial quality, but for at home use, preferably elliptical.

I don't need a built in television or anything fancy, no big LCD display with 10,000 gadgets - I just need something functional, that I can put in a room and do my cardio on. I'll have my own fan and television setup.

Most of what i've seen just seems... cheap, and the stuff in the gym is $3000. I figure once I have some models in mind i'll hit craigslist.

I would go to Dick's or whatever local place you have near and do some hands on. Then hit CL if you want. It might save you some drive time. The ones that seem heavy enough for me are well over $1000.

If you're looking for a solid elliptical, this is one of the better ones out there under 1000 dollars new. Originally retail for 2000 dollars.

I have one of these, had it almost 2 months now. It squeaks on the low resistances, the speed/calories/distance measurment is WAY off and the heart rate monitor is useless and sometimes when it changes minute marks the resistance will drop, or it will "increase" but get easier.

Other than that, it's stable, seat is comfy, the built in programs get me sweating and depending on where your gym is, the mp3 input is good.

You'll also want to pick up some D Batteries. Not a pro or con, but I've read about a couple people frying their circuit boards with the AC adaptor.

I got mine as a substitution for a cheaper bike that I tried to buy, and I'm happy with it.
