The doctor recently told her she is diabetic, and idk what to tell her or suggest.
She got some aasics last week to walk around the neighborhood to get her blood pumping. My mom is 46 or 47. I might get her the sketchers shape ups for mothers day on Sunday to maybe help her out. Any suggestions on what to tell her or nutrition advice?
my mom and I will really appreciate it

Google and the search function here are your friend hun. The resident jerks will always give you problems if you don't demonstrate that you've used them first before asking for help.
I'm assuming she's type 2 since finding out so late in life. My father is type 2 and I'm pre-diabetic/borderline type 2. Type 2 diabetics either don't produce enough insulin, or their bodies ignore the insulin and have a hard time processing glucose. She'll need to cut the sugars dramatically. No sweets (unless sugar free), no sodas (diet only if it has splenda, and absolutely no aspartame), no white breads (whole wheat only), only lean meats & plenty of vegetables is a good start.
She'll need to exercise, even if just taking a 30 minute walk after dinner a few nights a week. Most likey she's a bit overweight, correct? If she gets her weight down and gets her eating right she can control this without medication and she'll be less likely to develop Type 1 and become insulin dependent. After 50 years of eating crap my father turned things around and lost 50 lbs just by changing his diet. He looks 10 years younger now too.
Good luck!
