Hi my names John ive been training BJJ for a hour and 4-5 months now. I train 5-7 times a week, and im love it. I mix up my training with weight lifting and cardio and of course BJJ, I do a little boxing sparring at the gym, ive never really learned it though i learn as I spar, i train with a heavybag at home but that's it.

my training schedule: (6 day work, 1 day rest)
Monday:BJJ/Chest/boxing on heavybag
Tuesday:BJJ/Legs/Plyometrics
Wednesday:BJJ/Shoulders/Sprints
Thursday:BJJ/Back/Plyometrics
Friday:BJJ/Arms/Boxing on heavybag
Saturday:Open mat-BJJ/MMA Conditioning Complex/ Hill sprints (if I can)
Sunday:Open mat-BJJ (if I can), Yoga at home, rest cardio, rest weight lifting

diet consits of protein, whole wheats, fruits, veggies (trying to get more of!), what else? ha...

Supplements: MuscleMilk Whey Protein, Fish oil, flax seed oil, Vitamin C, CLA (trying to lay back on)

Goals: Blue belt, Bench 185, Squat 225, power clean keep going up from 135. I wanan improve my boxing, I want my cardio to go up!

Today I did Legs, Plyometrics, and BJJ
BJJ was really good today, i did 2 classes and 7-8 o clock class, some new kid was in with his brother and this kid was pissing me off, he was a new kid and telling me how to do moves and **** and drills when I already knew how to do them, he was going like 150% when we were rolling, he was trying slam me when i triangled him, my coach warned him to stop like 3 times so my coach told me to go 100% and i choked him out every 5 seconds it was funny, he was going 150% like it was a street fight as i was going 10%.

tomrrow i plan on improving my diet trying to eat 6 smaller meals a day tomrrow, ill let you know, ill post pics on dinner or whenever i eat at home.

working out was alright, i mean I did Legs i dont go to a gym or anything i got weight lifting as a class at school, sometimes i sneak into golds gym because my friend goes their but yeah, i got dumbbbells at home and olyimpic bar but no weight bench or nothing

legs:
Squats 5x3
Deadlift:3x8
Plyometric:
Squat Jumps
Box Jumps
Lunges jump
jump for distance
depth jump (jump as high as you can)
Ladderal jumps

Yup, UFC FAN EXPO :D I already signed up online, i feel confident and ready for it!

and alright this was my workout today:
Shoulders:
Incline bench press 5x10
DB Incline 5x18 (6 right arm 6 left arm 6 both)
Hang Clean 4,4,2
DB shoulder workouts...

Food:
1st meal:Before school I ate GoLean Cereal and fat free milkk
2nd meal:2nd period after weight training drank my 26G musclemilk whey protein
3rd meal:lunch i ate turkey sandwich, apple, like 5 grapes lol, and some cracker/pretzels in 1!
4th meal:6th period i ate some peanuts and rasins
5th meal:after school at 3:30 an hour and 30 mins before bjj I ate turkey sandwich with potatoe salad in it, and veggie mix (calliflower, bracolli, carrots)
6h meal:Just drank my whey protein muscle milk, and gonna eat a salad with pork on it, with veggie mix. with tomaties, celary,toamtoes, and onions. pics will be up soon
after i eat i plan to run hill sprints then stretch and watch TUF then sleep ill post pics soon

Finished hill sprints like 30 mins ago, did 8 good hill sprinting with not to much rest, it felt good, i havent done cardio since track last year so i feel refreshed and did abs when i got home. gonna shower and watch TUF soon and stretch maybe foam roll while watching TUF.

I planned on posting pics of my 2 meals pre workout and dinner meal but i need 30 posts and i only got 7. oh well.


and i just ate watermelons like 10 mins ago at 9:40 and that completes my day

nice log john. I still think you should eat more though. I'm cutting and not doing as much cardio as you and I eat more than that.

Today was a lazy day, im hella sore shoulders and legs. didnt go to bjj today but i did lift today, didnt do any cardio or anything haha. i ruined my diet today but its whatever, i did back. ill return tomrrow

oh yeah on my first post, i put i did jiujitsu for 1 hour and 4-5 months, i meant to "ive done jiujitsu for 1 year + 4-5 months". it wouldn't let me re-edit.

today I did pretty good got some good training @ open mat today, rolled with this kid from another gym called "sergio penha brazilian jiujitsu" he was really good, we rolled for a while then i got him in a triangle and finished it, he got me in a quick armbar the 2nd time we rolled, i did better than i thought because a blue belt said "that kid is really good" and i was scared haha. diet wasnt good today but oh well. and i went to the gym and did arm day.

yesterday i don't think i post what i did but I did class and learned alot of takedowns and then did mit work for boxing and knees and kicks on thai pads for the first time, and then i sparred with some dude and I actually learned alot and i like working on the mits, its harder than I thought. It works on alot of footwork and ****.

I signed up at a gym so now ill do work son

today i did legs at the gym

im sore as hell doing bjj is hard sore... it also makes me hella tired too, ima try getting alot of sleep and eating more and drinking more water, im trying to bulk up 25lbs to 150 now.

July 17th - Submission One (You probably know about this already since Diffley's your boy)

August 14th - IBJJF Open

September 11th - NAGA

September 24-25th - Grapplers Quest Mr. Oympia

Since I'm not doing this coming Grappler's Quest, I'm hoping to kill at least three of those tourneys.

Yup i feel im ready for Grapplersquest, ive been working hard and i feel i improved my takedowns and submission defence and offence by alot since my last tournament (submission1), i feel alot stronger too since ive been going to the gym.

im maxing out weight lifting next week in bench, power clean, squat. Then ill take a week off weight training and do little bit more cardio then go to my tournament saturday. sorry i havent been posting lately guys, been busy. also i plan on doing 3 of those tournaments you listed too haha

Kip said he didn't like how Mr. Olympia was run, so it looks like NAGA will no longer be doing their events there.

How often do you guys train from the feet at Legion?

What do you mean by feet? like striking? or wrestling? lol
nobody teaches striking. its a jiujitsu gym, but on saturday and friday ppl bring gloves and spar and teach you. so i like it. and sorry about not posting stuff, currently im just training hardcore jiujitsu haha but after my tournament on may 29, ill start posting my weight training workouts and ****, i just got symptons of over training so i took yesterday off, should be going in today at almost 100%.

Hey man, I was reffing the mat right next to your no-gi matches. I only saw your two finishes from guard, the kimura transition was pretty sick.

How did you get caught in no-gi? And how'd you do in gi?

what do you mean get caught?

First match i killed it, like 18-0 or 13-0 something like that, i did Giftwrap back attack, to armbar, to triangle, finished kimura in triangle. then 2nd match i fought some *** who was wearing bad boy short shorts and no clothes, it was gay. i could tell he was a wrestler i pulled guard, i was up points, i took him down got caught in a guiloteen, i almost got out but i landed hard on my arm (felt like i got armbared badly) and it hurts so bad right now, my arm hurts more then the choke did lol, then i triangled some kid fast after getting tooken down, i got 3rd in NO-GI.

in Gi, I got 2nd place (i was suppose to get 1st) I go against some green belt (im pretty sure he was a green belt in judo, he was trying to toss me and ****, i could tell his Gi was different and he was trying to beat me at the grip fight) i pulled guard, and he was trying to choke me in my own guard, i arm barred him. my fight for 1st place was a good match, it was tied on points, and he swept me but i reversed it, and the ref gave him advantage points, but that advantage point was suppose to belong to me. so my friend shows the ref the footage my dad recorded, and the ref said i ran out of time, by 1 second lol...

what was cool was, i got a pic with mike tyson and i got to meet jeff glover and that guy from cobrai kai on the episode with jeff glover travels cobra kai. i got to meet jeff because i saw his little cousin ( havent seen her in like a year) and she introduced me to jeff, it was awesome.

Also ill start putting up training stuff again for my next tournaments, i know for a fact im doing submission-1 this summer. I gotta let my body rest today, i might go train today but my arm is messed up and my neck is sore so i need rest, ill probably just watch.

So I had my blue belt friends from gym corner me, Had a purple belt corner me too.

It wasn't Sim Go. It was a white guy, I forgot his name. I think it was Chris. Yeah I did pretty good, I feel like im more technical then everybody, just gonna keep training hard, and now im more motivated, I feel stronger then my oponents, im gonna work on guiloteen defence when i go back to gym, and yeah im just gonna keep training hard (if i can roll with adult blue belts and + I can handle my age and my weight.)

oh cool, i hurt my arm i think i spranged it or whatever, or hyperextended but i doubt that. What should i do? just ice it/ icyhot? or idk i wanna recover this fast, so i can get back to training asap!

Just trained at 10-11:30 am. it was good.

What I ate so far was Oatmeal + protein mix.

workout

then ate 2 bowls of speggetti lol
and then drank milk

i plan on going gym today and doing legs, i think..

Got good training for today!!
Rolled with purplebelt for a while a few blue belts and people my skill level it was good.

I can't wait to get back into weight training starting Monday.
I have to babysit tomrrow,thursday, and Friday and it's pretty easy i make 6-10 bucks a hour. So i'll buy new whey protein (ill get ON 100% whey protein) and i just bought creatine, so ill be really motivated to weight train again, and it will be summer time so ill be relaxed too !

upcoming tournaments im training for:
submission-1 : July 24th (Sahara Hotel and Casino)

Meh, I don't wanna join any other gyms currently. I was thinking about going around town to Open Mats and training with different people, but it has to be free :p

I was making brackets and what not, not actually reffing. I was working the score table on mat 6 while you were competing and doing brackets the day before.

Yeah, I hear you. We have open mats on Saturday, but I tend to work Saturdays at my other job so I might not be there.

Yeah, our open mat is on Saturday 12-2pm what time is CK open mat? is it free? do i just need to sign a waiver or whatever? I rolled with a guy from sergio penha's school he came to legion during our open mat, he was cool + good, gained so much expierence from him, we were equally matched too. so it was good competition. If i go to open mat's i wanna go to a chill gym and not getting jumped by people or getting picked on because I go to Legion or whatever. lol

Nah, we respect Cameron so its all good. Nobody here is that big of a dick to just beat up on you because you're from a different gym, but it is a pretty competitive environment so bring your a-game. Our open mat runs 11 am - whenever on Saturday. It's kind of hit and miss on who shows up though. We usually have at least one blackbelt in attendance though.

And technically its a $20 mat fee, but PM me if you want to come in. We'll talk.

didn't go gym today because of baby sitting, made 40 bucks from baby sitting 12 to 5. tomrrow i baby sit 8am to 5pm. same with friday. Gym is closed anyways starting tomrrow because of Worlds tournament in cali. Gym will be opened again Monday. i will start lifting Sunday hopefully. Ill do light cardio or boxing to keep myself in shape and ill foam roll to massage me! and stretch also.

Yesterday went to rex center's gym with my dad because its been 4 days without working out or whatever, so i did chest and tricept. gonna start lifting tomrrow. hopefully my arm is 100% recovered it doesnt feel like it, but its good to go. i've been icing/heating it up lately and icyhot.

Today I did Legs. and BJJ gym is open today so im looking forward for learning some new technique because everybody got back from worlds in cali. our team did very good

Went to BJJ did 2 classes which was a total of 2 hours 30 mins. Learned alot of technique. Did abs when I got home, got 9 hours of good sleep :D
My brother should be doing kids class today as his first time.
I decided im going to start drilling 80% of the time, and roll for 20% of the time.
and when tournament comes up ill roll 80% of the time, and drill for 20% of the time.
Drilling is how truely get better, so im going to drill mostly untill my next tournament.

My LEGS hella sore!, today i might be doing arms at gym or later in week, if I don't then it's a rest day for weightlifting.

Drilled alot in BJJ yesterday.
Gonna do shoulders later today and BJJ at 5:30-7

did bjj thursday
and bjj friday, but mostly i sparred boxing in the gym.
saturday i got my ass kicked and so i know what i need to drill and work on now.

ill be goin bjj later tonight i think
and hopefully lifting weights today too

BJJ yesterday i was really focused and learned alot, and i remember everything, i learned alot of technique and my rolling was reallly good.

today i walked 1-2 miles to gym and did chest, went and chilled with friends. Went BJJ 3-4 hours later, was kinda tired but not too bad, got owned in rolling....

i really need to do as good as I did Monday. but i did show dedication walking to gym haha it took 35 mins to walk. some uphill, i really want to bike their but my tire is flat.

Ate pretty healthy today too.

I really wanna get back into doing cardio 3 times a week (plyometric, Boxing/jump rope, and Hill sprints) 3 times a week. not including bjj as cardio.

and wanna add abs after cardio workouts.

Let's see how I do tomrrow is legs.. if i walk to gym

Did Good in BJJ yesterday, working deep half guard. Im liking it

Did legs yesterday and started doing abs again, and I hit the heavybag for a while, then did punch out drills, and hard hook drills, then dumbbell shadow sparring 5lbs each hand, then regular shadow sparring 2 mins, then 10 knuckle push ups and 10 burpees.

Chest was sore but its not sore anymore.
Legs are sore now.
Arms are today. I need to not be counter productive.
