Yesterday i got my body fat % measured, and i got 4.5% bf, i got excited about but ive started reading some more about body fat and through my "research" i read that the lowest "healthy" body fat % a person can have is 3% is this true? and that a person shouldnt mantain low bodyfats like 3 or 4 for a long time, this has me worried since my first comp is going to be in like 2 months :S

If those are your current pictures, you're probably more like 7-10% fat; not 4.5%. People tend to under-estimate body fat. 3-4 is low and unhealthy. Where you are right now is probably just fine.

Looking at your pics that say april 14th 2010 you are maybe at 9-10% b/f. Essential fat for a male is 2-4% meaning any lower and you would be dead. 4-6% is having striations, veins , separation showing everywhere. Just curious but who told you and how did calculate that b/f %?

honestly i dont think i am at such a low body fat %, but im saying this because my trainer checked my bodyfat and thats what i got, still im gonna keep my diet and hopefully i dont look unhealthy for the time of my comp

the test was with a bodyfat caliper, and he took measurements from my chest, waist and legs

First off, Calipers can be very far off if the the person who is doing them isnt very skilled and experienced. Also a 3-site test is just stupid, they are very innacurate and really do not give a good example of ones BF. If you want a true reading find somewhere that you can do hydrostatic weighing, or just get a few different people (who are experienced) to do you BF with a 7 site caliper test. Then you can get a pretty good average out of those numbers. Your definitely not below 7% right now. So dont worry about your health. With 8 weeks to go until your show your going to be fine, keep dieting and when you can see striations in your glutes and hams then you may be round 4%. Keep training hard!! Keep Dieting HARD!
