That is about right. Typically peopel go with 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight tho.

According to my calculator, a 40/45/5 protein/fat/carb breakdown would result in:

Protein: 208g
Fat: 104g
Carbs: 28g

2080 calories.

It's OK.

I'd up protein a bit and increase fat a bit if energy levels fall or if you have a harder time reaching ketosis. Fat being high enough is key as it slows (inhibits) protein conversion, thus making the diet more muscle sparring.

10-12 cals per lb is a great place to start, but some (with faster motabolisms) find that more than 12 can work well also.

I would say start at 12 or 13 times total body weight. Starting at 10 means you are already at the bottom end of the safe range.

I can't argue with this reasoning, my ketonic brother.

Sometimes, the common sense, safe approach is the best.

My metabolism is akin to a slug, so I always do 10. We endomorphs have some good qualities...but in general it's just a pain in the ass.

At least I don't have much of an appetite. :)
