The metabolic demand for protein increases by some 300% compared to sedentary individuals, hence, you absolutely must include a protein drink as a source to meet that demand that you can't get from meals alone - my personal favorite in Optimums egg protein - chocolate. A better source would be a WPC and or a blend of WPC/WPI

I have been taking vasolate for my protein post workout on top of diet....but i am thinking of changing over to Myofusion and also following a different diet....I have been doing alot of reading on diets
.....Found one called Game Over By Chuck Rudolph and Layne Norton that i find might be a better route for me. Have you heard of this Book, and if so what do you think about it?

I know exactly who you feel on this. I could stay in the gym all day with my stack from Double-T.

Here is what I take:

NO Beta 6 or 7 pre-workout
CreaDyl 1.5 scoops pre-workout
Glutacene - 3 scoops Intra-workout
NitroMine - 10 Intra workout (not out yet, just running a log on this with a sample)
TestX6 4 at bedtime.

I think this stack is the absolute best you will find.

Diet - I did the cut diet plan found at www.cutdiet.com and did 1750 calories a day but I was on a serious cut for my challenge. There are also diet plans on there for bulking while watching body fat too. Worth checking out.

Your workouts and supplements look great. Post your diet up here as well.

If you need anything please drop me a PM.

I've added up and you are only eating 2496 calories. You should add another shake or heavy protein meal. If you don't gain, then add another in between other feedings.

Yeah, most of those products give you good results for a week or two and then your body gets use to them and you have to cycle off of them for a while to feel any effect again whereas NO Beta seems to work continuously for people without wearing off.

Hopefully that continues to be the case for you. Also good idea on upping your intake a bit, you'll probably see better results in growth and development from that.

I agree - other NO products are just outclassed by NO-Beta.
Glad you are getting more fuel. Remember, if you aren'tgaining size/weight (it will be slower than anyone really wants), you will need to add more. Don't be afraid to add more carbs. That should be what you adjust if you are not gaining enough or cutback on if getting too smooth/bloated, assuming your protein is high enough for your weight.

Green beans for breakfast? What is it with thse people? ;)

Honestly what you have there is fine. You don't need 100 different exercises for abs. And you're hitting them very well with the exercises you've lifted. If you'd like to ad something my suggestion would be to do decline weighted twists with a medicine ball or plate, elbows and toes for 3 sets of 90 seconds, and barbell rollouts.

Nice stats and congrats on week one!

I like to hit the 'inner' abs as well some times, so i do like vacuum squeezes while just sitting around, then supermans are really good for the core, cable trunk twists, planks, and sometimes V-sit ups

The BEST ab exercises really are hanging leg raises, and you already got those

kconnell
04-04-2010, 12:25 PM
I agree with dpressma - what you have sounds good.
Another good routine is 8-minute abs. You basically alternate between upper/lower/rotation (side-to-side) for 8 minutes straight.

Just remember, that having good abs is more diet than training.

Second this as you don't want to over work your abs.

If you want to change it up from time to time you can incorporate dragon flags, russian twists, or floor wipers. They're a lot of fun (depending on your definition of fun lol) and really hit the core nicely.

I am a VERY firm advocate of NitroMine, while I am excited about all of the new products lke Betacene that Double-T is releasing here the ONE supplement I feel is custom formulated for me is NitroMine.

In my log for NitroMine combined with the rest of my Double-T stack I was able to move from barbell squats of 180 lbs to 365 lbs in 20 days. The NitroMine helped greatly and the Glutacene made it possible for me to hit the gym everyday without the DOM's being so bad that I had to sit out and recover. I was able to hit new PR's for two weeks straight five days per week on every muscle group.

IMO, this challenge was the greatest experience of my life, stick with it and you WILL accomplish every goal you have! The supplements, the training advice you get from Double-T and a good nutrition plan will give you results you never thought you could achieve.

Tell me about trying to keep weights up while cutting - currently about 8 weeks into a cut (trying to get down to 100kgs to do the 100kg div at the powerlifting nationals in australia) and the weights are still coming up but they are starting to feel heavy lol.

NitroMine is a supplement you don't feel the immediate effects of like NO Beta or CreaDyl but with use it really is amazing the effects you realize on your training and on your physical appearance. I was able to hit PR's on every muscle group every workout 5 days a week for two full consecutive weeks.

I gotta get my hands on some NitroMine!

Once you do you will not want to run out, too bad it is only in Beta testing at this time.

Nitromine sounds like some serious business!

Bro, you can't even envision what NitroMine will do for you. If you look at Paul's son and the numbers he achieves it starts to show you what the full potential of this supplement is. Jordan (jordansrt) is running a log using NitroMine now, check it out!

Desperately trying to hold onto it as I cut weight, hopefully it doesn't dip under 600lbs because that was a very painful plateau to get over and I don't want to do it again lol.

That is where NitroMine really comes into play, I was at a plateau coupled with being on a seriously calorie restricted diet plan. 1500-1750 calories a day and only getting a carb load on every 18th meal (last meal every third day) and was still able to not only blow past my plateau's but also able to hit PR's I never thought would have been possible.

If Paul called me tonight and offered me a bottle of NitroMine for $100 I would buy everyone he would sell me. Guess I would have to hock the kids and car LOL :)

I think you have a good outline here for an exhaustive and complete training program. My only caution would be that you have yourself working pretty hard 7 days per week. I think you may be better off to include at least two rest days to allow your body to recover and to avoid overtraining and the real possibility of injury.

Here is what I finally arrived at and had pretty good success with:

Sunday - rest

Monday- Biceps and Triceps with Cardio

Tuesday - Chest and Abs

Wednesday - Back with Cardio (I went really heavy on back day so that was the only muscle group worked.)

Thursday - Lower body, legs, calves, tib, hips and glutes and Abs.

Friday - Shoulders and Traps going real heavy on both. I did 455lb bb shrugs for 4 to 5 sets of 10 or more reps. with Cardio

Saturday - rest

I did this routine for 10 full weeks and worked an average of 5 routines for 4 sets of 10-12 reps working each muscle group as heavy as possible and working to failure. The last two weeks of my contest period I worked abs 5 days for 3-5 routines with 100 reps per routine. I also did LISS Cardio the last month 5 days for 35-45 minutes.

Again, this is what worked for me and I avoided injury and had sufficient rest time to build muscle and maintain my strength. Experiment with your routine and listen to your body. If you decide to do the 7 day routine don't be afraid to back it down to 4,5 or 6 if you need to to keep your momentum going.

Haha. If this is Layne's routine then you better believe that it is SOLID and well-planned. He and Alan Aragon are 2 of the best contest prep guys around, especially for natural bbers!

Try out his routine, see how your body responds, and adjust to fit your needs.

Make sure to incorporate Double-T's Bulging Biceps, Thrashing Triceps, Slammin' Shoulders, and Crushing Chest routines into your workouts as well. They are killer and will be a real shock for your muscles!

Good luck, bro!

I have to throw in my full endoresement of the routines. They are the most intense workout you cn get. Make sure you follow the instructions in the workout completely and GO LIGHT on your weight. I know the tendancy is to try to go heavy but after your first superset you will see just how intense the routine is with light weight.

Good Luck and my the NO-Beta be with you :) Let us know how you liked it.

No one knows your body better than you, but when your body is telling you that it's sore and in pain I wouldn't strain it by pummeling it more. Get an icy hot patch and see if it's just something mild that'll go away and maybe work out later in the day or try and get into a pool so that you get a good workout in by swimming and at the same time loosen up your back by being in the water.

Bro, you can feel the difference between DOM's and something that is more serious like an injury or the start of something that can become an injury. I hear people all the time say to just push through it, but that is VERY BAD advice. you definitely don't want to risk an injury of any sort in this.

You might want to give your back a rest day today and supplement some additional cardio or another muscle group that does not use place the back into a secondary muscle group. If you read some of fitnessman's posts he is a huge advocate of not risking injury. I really appreciate his perspective in this area.

Have an extra dosing of Glutacene and see where you are next week on back day. One workout will not hurt you in the long run as bad as an injury that will keep you out for several weeks.

Let us know how it comes along. Workouts looking awesome here bro, keep it up!

You will be the one who knows the limits on your own body and what you can and cannot do safely. Just use good judgement and if it hurts differently than "normal" stop. The swim or hot tub can also help alleviate muscle tension and cramping - but not as good as Glutacene LOL :D

Bro, you are feeling my pain now! It is a lot of food, most people think you will be incredibly hungry but in fact you are so full you want to skip meals.

On the 2750 calorie diet the goal is to consume 49g protein, 30g fibrous carbs and 20g fat in meal 1. Now I agree that 12 egg whites is impossible. I hated eggs after my second breakfast. I supplemented chick breast and other protein sources here. Look at your options, the eBook contains a lot of variations and the diet list that shows the meal items is for reference purposes.

Now, 2750 calories - how did you arrive at that number? I calculate that for your age/height/weight you need 2585 calories daily for maint assuming a 5 day per week intense training schedule. That would put you at 2185 for a cut and 2985 for a bulk to do either safely.

Unless you're trying to cut, I say suck it up and get your calories in. Or, perhaps instead of lowering your caloric intake, you could up the fat a bit. That will take care of some of the volume. How you eat 12 egg whites with only 1 whole is beyond me.

What kind of pumps are you getting in the gym?

Each persons body responds differently and while there are generalities among us each of us has to really experiment and find the exact match where our bodies respond and perform at their best.

My caloric intake is pretty much the same as yours +/- 39 calories daily.

For my cutting phase I did between 1500-1750 calories daily. I found that I had sufficient strength and was still able to increase my chest, shoulder, biceps and quad measurements while my waist measurement went significantly down as did my total body fat composition.

My goal at the moment that I am logging is to loose additional body fat and to gain 10 lbs lean muscle mass. I am still following the cut diet plan and doing 2000 calories daily.

I know there are many well qualified people out here who will say that is not possible and not enough calories, but bottom line it is working for me at the moment. If I see a decline in my muscle gain I will adjust upward but likewise if I see an increase in body fat I will decrease my total intake to find that optimal level.

I am relying very heavy on my supplements to help me achieve this goal, and with the right supplement mix I know that I can do this. It is just finding that correct balance that fits me. I know that NitroMine is really the key compoud that will make this easy, just waiting for it to be released now as I have 7 doses after todays workout this morning.

Green beans and PB are a great combination, but I absolutely LOVE green beans or broccoli and Almond Butter FTW!! I just finished some up for meal #3.

The problem with this is that it may hinder you for future cuts. That is an incredibly low number of cals for a man your size.

Its really tough!!!!! i think im going to drop down to 2500 to cut....and i am sick of green beans!!!!!!!!!

Take the microwave steamer bags of green beans or broccoli and then put 32g PB or Almond butter on them and nuke for another 15 seconds, stir it up and it is great! I grew addicted to this combination.

Take 32g almond butter and put on top your eggs, fold over like an omelet and it will make your eggs sooo good.

Here is a link to some great recipe ideas, many that fit with your macronutrient profile on this diet plan. http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=112503161

Nice job on the abs today bro, and great progress on the legs. That is a weak area for many people. I really neglected my legs for too long and after seeing a lot of guys with big upper body development walk around the locker room on chicken legs decided it was time to hit my lower body hard. It is painful but well worth the effort. You will be breaking PR's in that area on a regular basis soon with your stack. I have broke lower body PR's every leg day for the past few weeks and attribute it all to my stack.

I don't drink anymore but I would suggest straight shots probably vodka... if you need to chase, use diet soda... or ask for a Skinny Girl margarita... your friends will not make fun of you at all for that!!!

hmmmm, probably not a drink that is ok, all alcohol will stop your bodies ability to burn fat and will be metabolized as sugars which will also be stored as body fat. In addition the alcohol will dehydrate your muscle as well. :(

I would probably go with straight burbon such as Woodford Reserve or something smooth like that. Vodka is processed from potato and is very high in calories and carbs. Chardonney is the wine of choice as it is one with the least calories and carbs beside something like a Merlot which is on the dry side.

Whatever you decide on just do so in moderation and drink plenty of water, it should not set you back.

I have a friend that is a body builder and competes professionally, when he drinks he drinks light reduced calorie beer and for every 12 oz of beer he will drink 3 12 oz glasses of water. Although he drinks maybe twice a year if that.

Good luck!!

I think there are a few companies that make a really low cal beer, MGD 60 and Michelob Ultra are the two I'm thinking of at the moment. Can't comment on the first, but the michelob is awful tasting IMO. Otherwise just go for a bottle of a light beer. But, if you do opt to drink, that'd be the way I'd go.

One of my motivating factors for doing legs is that i've heard doing squats helps with testosterone production, and then there is that chicken leg syndrome lol. The only real reason i work out is so i can kick ass lol and when i come up against those huge guys with the skinny legs they'll stand no chance!

Thats how i lost all my weight to begin with was quitting the alcohol and soda/energy drinks- I'm a crazy alcoholic so i don't see the point in drinking one and then drinking a bunch of water! I'd never black out and do all sorts of crazy **** to regret the next day lololol. It sucks to go out with friends that are drinking and abstain your self, but i've found it worth it-

I've missed out, but I'm caught up in your log.

Watch the injuries, bro. You may be getting to excited and wanting to move up in weight on exercises too quickly. You mentioned the Double-T workouts. Those are great and might actually help you heal a little more, since you use a lot less weight and use "pump" sets. As good as they are, don't stay on them for extended periods - you still need heavy training. These routines increase blood in the area and should help heal. Good luck!

Don't you love working your legs? I had a great leg day myself today.

You might want to up your weight load on some of these like your standing calf rasises. A good rule to follow is if you cannot lift 6 reps then you have too much weight, if you can lift 10 or more then your weight is too light. Also in terms of sets try to get 3-5 working sets in for each routine. If you follow the above practice on your weight then this should allow you to work your muscles pretty well and not risk injury.

How do you feel your progress is at this point?

Really sorry to hear about your back bro, it is really rough to get an injury when you are really into pushing yourself and on program. You definitely need to take care of yourself first and make sure you don't do any additional damage. If you have pinched a nerve you probably need to get in to see your doctor and make sure that you are cleared medically before you try to get back to the gym, if it is muscular then it might be ok but pinched nerves can lead to a lot of other issues and you definitely don't want to mess anything up permanently. Better safe than sorry later.

That is rough bro, just keep reminding yourself that your working out is helping to keep you in shape and feeling better overall.

Once you see the doc and see what they say we can always provide you some alternative routines that don't strain the back as bad as others.

Let us know when you get some information and take care of yourself.

It is great to see you back, glad everything worked out at the Chiro and that it was not anything that required any type of surgery or long term restrictions.

You are definitely back and with a vengence it looks like.

Putting up some great numbers there and doing some great work. Keep it up!!

I am doing great - keeping busy like everyone else on here. I am in British Columbia this week and working some really weired hours and times but still managing to get into the gym everyday. I have a three hour break so trying to catch up on logs and just got done with a chest workout Ill be posting later once I get onto my laptop.

I ordered 1 Betacene and 3 NitroMine on the promo and can't wait to get home and start back on the NitroMine. I have used it before but not with the Betacene - should be good.

BTW, Betacene Wildberry tastes like candy (fruit punch).

I think the best time to take your Betacene is as a pre-workout drink. If you take it 15-20 minutes before your workout then you will realize the full benefit and effect from the formulation.

Give that a try and see what you think, I suspect you will see a tremendous boost in both your energy level and your strength with the addition of this supplement.

I would not mix the Betacene and CreaDyl since they both contain Beta Alanine and Creatine and if you are using NO Beta the doses are probably too much together.

I take my Betacene pre-workout with my NO Beta and then mix 1 scoop of CreDyl with 3 scoops of Glutacene and sip it intra workout. They are spaced about 20-30 minutes out from each other. This works well for me.

Nice workout.

I wouldn't combine them either. Assuming you are working out in the evening, like I do, I would take the BetaCene in between one of your morning meals. Or, you could take it on your non-workout days. Since CreaDyl has stimulants, BA, and a mixture of Creatines, it is best pre-workout, IMO.
