Im new to the forum and this is my first post. Ive already had my right side bicep tendon reattached after it began dislocating about a year ago. Im now having issues with my left side bicep tendon. The pain is isolated to the bicep tendon area and I have no tears but significant inflammation that keeps any physical activity to a minimum. Of all the treatments I went through on my right shoulder I never took a cortizone shot. My question for you guys, Is it worth trying a cortizone shot? My doctor thinks another tenodesis is the only fix I should do but recovery is long and this shoulder is in much better shape that my right at its surgery. I just worry cortizone has negative implications. Have any of you had any negative clinical outcomes using cortizone for a problem like this? Thanks for the help

Are you talking about the tendon at your elbow or shoulder?

Those shots do have some negative effects but just a shot or two will likely help more than hurt. The guys that get into trouble with them get many shots over quite a period of time. For example someone with osteoarthritis of the knee or hip that gets one every couple months for 2-3 years.
There's a few YouTube videos about bicep tendon that I found pretty informative a while ago. They should be easy to find with search.

I had biceps tenodesis in November 2009. How did your first surgery turn out?
