Mauer is a horrible pick at #1 overall (but I think you hinted at knowing that with your second sentence), come on son. Mauer is stupidly overhyped this year. Yeah yeah yeah catcher is thin, but wait two rounds and draft Vmart. I bet his run production will be better than Mauer's this year and his average is still going to be in the .300's, it won't be 350 but he sure as hell won't hurt you.

as mentioned, the next best option is Hanley.. and I don't think you can get all that ridiculed for taking him.
a guy in our league didn't want Pujols, so he made a deal with the #2 guy who did want Pujols.. i think they traded a later round draft pick.
