Big let down yesterday. I told you guys that my copy of Reach was at the house according to Fedex's website. I get home and it's not there. :confused: and :mad:

I log into Fedex's site again and they have two shipments for the same tracking number. I looked at the first one and it was 'delivered' back in July. Still don't know what that's about.

So I still don't have Reach. Planning on taking a 2 hour lunch break today though to play a little.

then he shanked a child coming out of the store with his copy of Reach. the kid's grandmother was waiting in the car, but Zbuc tossed a few of those sterno cans under her '88 Buick. He laughed as it caught fire about 10 mins later.

anyways, with his Black Wii and copy of Reach in hand, Zbuc retreived the pipe bomb he styled after the bomb in the Reach commercial only to pawn it off on a kid still in line.

as he flew threw the Wendy's drive through (2 dozen JBC's for Zbuc) the flames of a burning video game store reflected off his paintball visor fashioned into a Halo helmet. a wry smile creeped across his face as sirens blared and the screams echoed.

imo, Reach will be good enough where most people will enjoy it. of the 4 games you listed, they are all well made, and expectation of mine is quality, as Bungie has set quite a standard in the past.

I am in the same boat as you. I have only played Halo 1 for couple of hours.

Halo is definitely different from those games you mentioned. I love shooting games which is why I decided to look at Reach. Then I found out about the online matching system for Halo Reach and I was sold.

I would say that if money isn't tight then go ahead and get Reach. I am actually excited about it and I am no Halo fan-boy.

I don't really care I was always a gamer and always will be. I'm an Oracle DBA so I know a lot of geeks in the office and I did lan party's with guys in their mid 40's. I don't see them ever quitting or myself either. I'd actually be pretty sad if I stopped enjoying games.

I think it had to do with matchmaking. I was a 38 in H3 so you have to put in some time and be pretty good to maintain that level. Halo matchmaking gets rid of the noobs once you level up.

Yea the nukes is what ruined it for me. I felt like I was always trying to get one and then getting killed just made me rage. The game wasn't about anything but trying to get kill streaks and I played like sh!t because of it. The final straw was when I smashed a controller Easter morning after playing a quick game waiting for my GF to finish getting ready. Enough was enough. I broke 3 or 4 controllers playing for 6 months. I never broke one on the 360 up till that point.

I like it too. I'm playing on normal and it's kind of hard. I've had a couple parts I had to do 3 or 4 times to get to the next check point. Did anyone get to the part where the 2 huge dudes are in the lower bunker area? I had no guns to kill those guys.

What am I missing here? Reach is more frustrating that BC2 for me. I am hitting guys with my guns. I will hit them at least 3 to 4 times and they don't die. However, they are killing me with only 1 to 2 shots. Is it really possible that 90% of the server out there can jump up in the air and do a head shot every time?

I need some tips here guys.

What's the best type of match to play? The rotation we were on last night had us only using the DMR and one of the alien guns. No variety.

Is there an auto-aim that everyone is using that I am unaware of? (I doubt it)

What am I missing here? Reach is more frustrating that BC2 for me. I am hitting guys with my guns. I will hit them at least 3 to 4 times and they don't die. However, they are killing me with only 1 to 2 shots. Is it really possible that 90% of the server out there can jump up in the air and do a head shot every time?

IMO, the shooting skills in Halo games differs a lot from those of BC2, and MW2. I always struggle going back and forth between the two different types of shooters. Get used to aiming at head all the time, and chipping away at their shield before the fight with grenades, etc. If you were decent at bc2/mw you will adapt IMO, just keep at it.

So I did end up picking Reach up yesterday and, despite having my ass handed to me most of the night last night, I'm loving it! Thanks to everyone who responded yesterday.

Yea, if you can pull them head shots you win. There's a mode that is ONLY head-shots though otherwise you can play regular and take them out with body shots.

I'm not sure how the rating system works, but i do know that Arena rating system is different ranking system which works the same way as Wow's arena pvp seasons. Your rating takes in factor your, kills, deaths, teamkills, and teamwork and tallies a rating every month for you. You will only get put up against others close to your rating.

Headshots were a all to commong thing last night, everytime i died it was from a headshot on the DMR :O That just goes to show how much people play this game. If you play enough you will condintion yourself to shoot without and even scoping.

I wasn't diong to good last night at first, but i got use to it. And it's funny cause i tried Arena and was acutally first in the match that game. So may keep doing that mode.

My favorite class is the camo class. I tell you, i was sucking most matches but if i backstab someone at least once. I will be a happy man. But that hologram class is a troll class. :P I already tried backstabbing a hologram twice, and shoot at them when the owner of the hologram is running along side of it.

Jetpacks needs a fix or something cause it's pointless to use when your just flying around as a slow moving target. Maybe have a shield up while your airborne or something.

IMO i had super fun with the game, even when i wasn't doing to good.

you werent gone very long. left about halfway through and were there for the finish. you left your guy on top of that glass walkway, but all the explosions have pushed him a good bit away!

we quit the first time around. it wouldve taken 2 more hours to get it done.

there is the base "IGN" file that we used the 1st go around. yes, IGN is leading the charge with this, im sure Bungie is please with their exploit!

but those settings dont have the skulls turned on (more points) and uses the basic grunts.

i turned on all the skulls and attempted to change it so all the dropped enemies would be Hunters. i got about halfway done switching them over before pp started spouting off.

i would guess that if it was all skulls and all hunters, it would take 30 mins tops to get 1M pts, which is really crazy. that 1M pts is a major grinder achievement.

plus with invincibility, you can pull off some other achievements like "killionaire" (10 at once) which I found to only be possible with the mortar strike thing right after they jump out of the Phantom drop ship

I've actually had a some good races lately. Though, I did run into a turd the other day on a few races. Going to call him out... "The Mortician"

As I entered the lobby I watched the last four laps of Volvo's at Maple, saw some good close racing, then, last lap, dude punts the leader in blatant fashion for the win. Two races later it's Audi S4R at Sunset, I get punted twice by him, once going into the first corner on the first lap, putting me back to 8th, worked my way up to 6th, then he got taken out by someone..he then took me out AGAIN.

Race after that was GT40 at Road Atlanta, he tried twice here but failed.

Race following that was Mugello with Seat's. I was running 2nd for most of the race, managed to run clean the whole race, and make up time to the leader at the end. "The Mortician" was behind me in 3rd the whole race, I ran a clean but defensive line when he was close, always gave him room when alongside and let him outbrake himself or make his own mistakes. Last lap, two corners to go, I'm setting up the leader for the pass going into the chicane, and what do you know...he punts me, then shoves the leader off for the win....best yet, sends me a message after the race that I need to give him room. I was well ahead, the corner was mine if he was so sure he could have made a clean pass, he had four prior laps to do it and make it stick..he couldn't, therefore he punts me. Nice.

T10 needs to implement a penalty mode to prevent this crap, make an impact with another car at x-mph, you get slowed up for x-time.

First off, I race the proper line. I've taught for a large racing school. I've tested/raced for some large race organizations, I've raced many SCCA national championship races. I know how to drive a car, and race hard and clean as you saw in Mugello. You were not going to get around me without punting me, which is what you did. You state that you give positions back, why didn't you do it in the Volvo race. I was waiting for you to punt me at Mugello, and you did. I knew it was coming. You do it because you have to win, and you can stand losing.

Don't try to sit here and tell me you watched me take out others, all of the races we raced together in, you were only behind me twice. Both races you took me out. Start of Sunset, and in Mugello. All of the other times you "think" you saw me take someone else out, is not the case in the least. That buddy you speak of cut corners, and wrecked me a few times, but I never went back and punted him intentionally. If we came together, it's because he was not paying attention to where I was AKA, watching his mirrors, cutting corners which is nothing I would ever do unless necessary, just like at Road Atlanta where I had the corner and he wouldn't give room as he should have. My best lap was over 3 seconds better than his..what does that tell you?

Let me ask you this....at ANY point in our race at Mugello where you attempted to pass did I ever, once crash you, block you, or rub on you? The answer is NO. LOL. No offense to any firefighter or paramedic in here, but this is their mentality. They get paid barely over minimum wage, put in a lot of hours to offset that, and think that everyone owes them.

I've known and worked with several friends that are firefighters/paramedics/and even a flight medic. They ALL were the 'nerds' in school that got picked on and had low self-esteem. All they talk about is the 'accident that happened last night' or the 'fire that they put out'.

I get it that they love their career, but I just hate it when they think that they are above everyone else (heroic status) because of what they chose to do in life. I am grateful that there are paramedics and firefighters out there. But don't think that you are better than someone else because you were doing your job. A hero doesn't announce to everyone that they are a hero.

First off, I race the proper line. I've taught for a large racing school. I've tested/raced for some large race organizations, I've raced many SCCA national championship races. I know how to drive a car, and race hard and clean as you saw in Mugello. You were not going to get around me without punting me, which is what you did. You state that you give positions back, why didn't you do it in the Volvo race. I was waiting for you to punt me at Mugello, and you did. I knew it was coming. You do it because you have to win, and you can stand losing.

Don't try to sit here and tell me you watched me take out others, all of the races we raced together in, you were only behind me twice. Both races you took me out. Start of Sunset, and in Mugello. All of the other times you "think" you saw me take someone else out, is not the case in the least. That buddy you speak of cut corners, and wrecked me a few times, but I never went back and punted him intentionally. If we came together, it's because he was not paying attention to where I was AKA, watching his mirrors, cutting corners which is nothing I would ever do unless necessary, just like at Road Atlanta where I had the corner and he wouldn't give room as he should have. My best lap was over 3 seconds better than his..what does that tell you?

Let me ask you this....at ANY point in our race at Mugello where you attempted to pass did I ever, once crash you, block you, or rub on you? The answer is NO. I raced you hard and clean, and gave you room. If someone drives like a ***, and runs into me because they have no idea of how to run a proper line. That doesn't make it my fault. When you intentionally wreck me to 'get back' at me for your buddy driving like a ***, blocking, cutting corners and running a poor line....well...that's on you.

Just admit you wrecked me on purpose, and that you do it to win races. You were frustrated because I was faster than you, and you couldn't get around me.

The first corner is always a big clusterfk. About 90% of the races have a 3-4 car pile up because someone misses their brake point by a mile, or everyone tries to dive into the inside of the corner. Being able to initiate a vote to kick players after the race cuts down on most of the intentional ramming after that.

Get it. I got it as an extra chair for my basement that I could just move around easy so people could sit. I have very nice leather couches and big ass cushy chair I could sit in but I plop this thing right in front of my 51" instead. You feel locked in this thing lol. Trust me you will not be disappointed. I have literally have had 8 hour gaming sessions and didn't get the least bit uncomfortable. I've even thrown it across the room getting pissed at whatever I was playing and it didn't break so it's durable too lulz.

SWAT is basically turning Halo into COD mode.

The rest of the game is all about shields. I'm almost 100% positive a full ammo clip in chest will kill an enemy but thats every bullet hitting in the chest. Headshot makes shield go down way way way faster. If you pay attention you can see when their shield disappears so if you missing or unload a whole clip and their shield isn't gone, time to run until you get your shield back.

SWAT is basically turning Halo into COD mode.

The rest of the game is all about shields. I'm almost 100% positive a full ammo clip in chest will kill an enemy but thats every bullet hitting in the chest. Headshot makes shield go down way way way faster. If you pay attention you can see when their shield disappears so if you missing or unload a whole clip and their shield isn't gone, time to run until you get your shield back.

No it's not headshots. SWAT is no shields and start with DMRs.

No shields = 2-3 hits in chest or 1 headshot. So that's like COD to me. I love SWAT, easy to get the 17 kills daily challenge.

Invasion has the conquest mode sort've but definately not as good as BCs.

M$ definitely screws us on the hardware. Many people feel the same way. You want to play certain games so you have to just cross your fingers and hope that you are getting an Xbox that won't RRoD on you. I will say though that they have improved on this with the newest motherboard and processing units.

My biggest peeve with M$ is that they overcharge on their hardware (hard drives, wireless, etc) by 1000%.

I bent over too. I had a 360 for I think 2 years or so, and within the first year I had it the disc drive crashed on me. MS fixed it no prob, and then within the second year the graphics card died. After that I raged and traded everything in for a PS3.

Had that for a year but nobody I know has a PS3. They were all 360 guys. And since Reach was on the horizon I bought another one.

I had to buy a 250GB one though since I didn't keep the hard drive, so I gotta start from scratch, minus the Gamerscore.

I finally ended up having to call for evac on that turret mission. Heli got almost destroyed on the way to that night club place, so when taking off again it was only taking one shot to watch myself fall a million stories down. Frickin' laser canons.

i know what you mean. DMR + Headshots + them jumping around = tough, but that's why there's a plasma pistol. Makes them a cake walk.
