Thanks for stopping by and reading. This is my first contest (spring transformation) and im gonna give it my all. Im new to this log thing, so bare with me, may not be the most interesting one. I was going to cut up this spring anyway before I entered this contest, but when I read about it, I immediately signed up without even checking out the prizes or anything. I want to do this for myself and to give my wife something to look at and be proud of. Ive been in and out of the gym for the past 10 years and have kept myself in good shape, but nothing spectacular.

I had decided last Sept i was going to start getting very serious about bodybuilding and quit going through the motions, so to speak, and hit it harder than i ever have.

Over the fall/winter bulk cycle, I went from 159 lbs to 189 lbs, the biggest ive ever been.

Now that its springtime, i want to really shape up and shred!
I have become very interested in becoming a fitness model and i figured this was a great way to start my journey.

Here is my log so far:
Weigh in morning (empty)
Bulking cycle still in progress
3400-4000 cal daily
2-28: 187.6 lbs
3-2: 188.9 lbs
3-3: 189

3-4: Cutting cycle begins
3200 cal daily
3-6: 186 lbs 15.1% body fat

weight is finally stabilizing, slight loss in measurements (see chart on bodyspace),
i think due to a drop in water weight. New program is intense and is working very well.

3-22: 2350-2450 cal this week, starting to feel hungry when im sitting around
in between meals so im taking an extra protein shake in water when this occurs, which
I realize is a good idea. Doing cheat meals only on wed and sun, exactly 4 days in
between.

My right arm is catching up and ive gained an 1/8 inch back in both arms. Sweet!

3-29: Staying about the same calorie intake this week (2300-2400) but ive dailed down my carbs to 202g, didnt realize it, but i was around 280g of carbs. Also 66.5g of fat and 220-240 g protein.

First day of 190g of carbs @ 2300-2400 calories. No major change in energy level, feeling good. Measurements the same except for a few good changes, shoulders went up .5", Waist is down from 35.5 to 33.5, lovin that! Plus went us .25" in forearms! Starting to get the hang of this cutting thing (the right way) I hope!

This week, going down (daily) from 2395 cal to 2080 cal, from 202g carbs to 146g carbs, protein is about the same at 243g, and bumped my fat up a little to 74grams. Im starting to look more cut, love the progress., need way more work on the abs though. I will have new measurements and weight tracked along with photos in the next few days.

5-6-10: going back to heavy weights, 5-8 reps for a couple weeks, dropped my calories just a bit to 2235, 150g carbs, 86.5g fat, 246g protein, going to try to do 1 carb load day every two weeks instead of each week, and try to do a cheat day every two weeks as well. Will check weight and body fat % tomorrow.

well honestly, they were given to me and its worth a shot, last time a did a cycle with them for about 10 days and i noticed a difference in strength and recovery.

My dirty little habit of getting up in the middle of the night and eating peanut butter has cause up to me, im up 1 pound and up .4% body fat, need to tighten down, gonna keep a low carb protein shake next to my bed from now on!

June 25,2010 Bulk Cycle begins (around 7 months)
The goal is to put on as much muscle mass as possible while staying at or below 11% body fat
First clean bulk cycle for me

3400-3800 cal daily around 170g fat, 280-340g carbs, 230-260g protein

Training: For 7 Weeks) Full body lifts every other day (mainly multi joint) with sprints on off days with 1-2 rest days per week (Mass gain program from Muscle and Fitness Nov 2009 issue by Myatt Murphy)

I have a smaller right trap, tricep and bicep muscle. I have more shape to them when i worked on them more during cutting
phase, now its time to use several techniques over the course of this bulk cycle to bring up my smaller right side to match
the left side.

Training technique for the next 7 weeks for the smaller tricep, bicep and trap is after a warm up set or sets, before the initial
working sets do a 50 rep pump set on that particular muscle that will be involve in that working set. Example: Before doing
dips in the parallel bars, do a 50 rep set with light weight of tricep cable pushdowns with the small (right) side, then go into
your working sets of dips.

Measurements for arms are (cold) L) 15.5" R) 14 7/8" diff:5/8"
(pumped) L) 16" R) 15.5" diff:1/2"

Shoot man, im hoping to end this bulk cycle around 190-200 lbs at no more than 10% body fat, 11% at the very most and hopefully be around 170-180 around contest time next summer at around 5-6% body fat. We'll see what happens

your abs should still be visible with a good clean bulk and keeping cardio in there. the leaner you stay now the less work you will have to do during prep. staying leaner you can also see your improvements and gains alot better than if you just started adding unneccessary weight. it will def work out, body is just getting use to your new diet.

You ever think of doing a recomp like pbateman2 does? He gains around 7 lbs a year but maintains a 7% BF percentage year round. He does cal/carb cycling. I plan on recomping once I get rid of most of my fat.

pbateman is all there, thats all i can say, he def knows what he's doing.
Im gonna give this clean bulk a shot, ill do more research on recomp work, but I think a bulk/cut works best for me, but we'll see next bulk cycle, if I come out looking better this next time im gonna stick with what works

Right arm grew a little in the past 3 weeks, i think this technique is working.

Arms: L) 15.5 cold 16 pumped
R) 15 1/8 15 5/8 pumped
only a 3/8 difference now but need to work the dip of the tricep and peak of the bicep
way more. Photo soon

forgot to mention supplements im taking and what time windows im using.

morning: Multi, Vit B,C,D,K, Dymatize elite whey/casein powder (1 scoop), 5g glutamine
2-3 g CLA and 600mg Green Tea Extract (starting July 17)

pre: 1.5 hours before 2-3g CLA and 600mg of Green Tea Extract
45min before, 7-8g arginine, 1 cup of coffie
20-30 min before, dymatize whey isolate (1 scoop), 5g glutamine, 5g creatine

Post: immediately: 1 scoop of dymatize flud waxy maize or 2 serv of Gatorade on Sprint
days

15-20 min: 1 scoop of dyamtize whey isolate (1 scoop), 5g glutamine, 5g Creatine


Bedtime: 2 hoursor so before: 7-8 g arginine and ZMA

1 hour or so before: 2-3 g CLA, 1 scoop dymatize elite whey/casein powder,
5g glutamine

I will cycle off of arginine and creatine on our 10 day vacation coming up but will continue with protein, glutamine, CLA, green tea extract, vitamins and will add Carnitine because im pretty sure there will be some cheating involved

I have a an arm that is has always been 1/2 behind the other. Before my arm workout and after a good warm up, i will do a bicep and/or tricep single joint excercise for 50 reps, light weight for a good pump before the arm workout. It seems to be working.

For fat loss, I would strongly suggest 1-3g, 3 times a day before meals, that was my main fat burner supp for the contest.

Made it through a week and a half vacation at Las Vegas without getting obese with all the fried food I ate, my face is so broke out, zits everywhere, but I did get to supplement with 9g of CLA, 1.5g of Green Tea Extract and 3g of Carnitine everyday so that helped keep the fat from building up so bad.

You could lower your cals back down a bit and not bulk as fast to save yourself from some fat gain?? Supps probably aren't the best answer...

waist measurement this morning was 33 1/2"

That is exactly what im doing Beefcake, im going to start by lower my cal on rest and cardio days and see if I can get back around 11%

i just calculate all the food by meals as far a micros and just add it all up, i probly spend way too much time figuring all this crap up but i enjoy it

for now fat and protein will stay relatively the same

as for carbs

around 415g on weight days
300g on cardio days
215g on rest days

Also I have gained another 1/16" in my right arm which brings it to 15 1/2" cold and 16"
with pump, I will have photos up soon, ive just have to pin down my wife to take them for me

Only 1/4" difference, but now i need to work on the peak of the outer head my bicep and the dip on my tri. Although size is getting there, its still pretty flat. BLAAAAAAAAA

The moment of truth, photo from June 24th at peak of cut next to yesterday 8-28-10 on a rear double arm pose, im happy with the progress but still lots of work is needed. Size is getting closer, a dip of tricep is getting close but peak of the rear head of bicep need to come up. Traps are looking more symmetrical as well.

My new arm workout call for training arms two days a week so im working a new split for that for the next 4 weeks, im at day 5 of this first week and since the added volume of each muscle group has went up im so sore, lets keep on growing.

1-chest/back/abs
2-legs/cardio
3-arms/abs
4-sprints
5-shoulders/traps/abs
6-arms/cardio
7-rest

and as far as diet im dialing down a bit more

weight days are like usual on fat a protein, 80-100g fat, 240-300g protein, but down to 380-400g carbs

And... why would you keep your carbs lower on sprint days? sprints tend to be pretty grueling...

legs dont look bad, we all have to start somewhere. you have a good foundation to build on man. really hit those hams hard to get that nice hang to your legs, that is something i never really focused on in the past and now i have to do extra to bring them up.

Changing my training split just a bit.

Only change is before and after training each muscle group, im doing a 50 rep set for a big painfull pump. It worked great on trying to bring up my right arm so im gonna apply that to my whole body and see if i can shock my body into some new growth.

oh yes it is a shocker, im thinking of doing it once a month probly, see how that works. Im actually raising my cal just a bit, im learning that with my body type i guess im going to have to settle with being around 12% BF to gain any more size.

right now im taking in 80-100g fat, 300g carb (rest days), 360-375g carb (training days), and 260-300g protein

body fat yesterday was 12.2%

Things are looking good, ive been doing cardio in the mornings empty most days, and did that pump workout for a week along with eating 360-400 carbs per day and 250-275g protein daily, my weight is not 176.1 lbs and it does look like ive gained any extra fat. Right on!!

your bodyfat is still staying relatively low. are you planning on bringinig it down some before the holidays come, or just gonna start killin it when the holiday seasons are over?

the real body fat percentage is 15%

Havent posted in a while, im still hitting the gym extremely hard. Other than that, all of my time is going to work and school. Taking 9 hours in a 2 month semester plus working full time is almost more than I can handle. Hope everyone is well. I will have new photos up soon. Right now im around 180 pounds and 13% body fat so im not too fat but not very lean either. Im somewhere in the middle.
