Cheat day is officially completed for me and now it is Sunday and that means it is officially Liquid fasting day for me.

LOL

Since I will still have a caloric intake during the fasting session, I will still be filling in the blanks in my thread for those calories.

Who's watching the LOST Finale tonight?

Any theories on what will be the end? My friend thinks they are all dead and are in Purgatory. I don't think so myself.

I'm actually not sure but hope it's not something stupid like that or that it was just a "dream".

I hope it's satisfying and intriguing all at the same time!

Girlfriend took me out to dinner yesterday to a pretty upscale steakhouse. Had the best ribeye of my life.

And despite the fact that I tailored the rest of the days macros to accommodate it, I still feel the need to go even harder in the gym today.

Not necessarily a bad thing, though.

Loved that trailer. I don't think the movie's been released yet. There's nothing on IMDb either. I'm definitely going to watch it when it comes out, also, now i have to dig out my Chantal Kreviazuk CD and get that song "Time" on my iphone. lol

That's on tonight!!!! I'm watching it for sure. I haven't watched Lost on tv all season but download it and watch it when i can so i actually don't know what day it's on. lol

BTW, i have no theories on how it's going to end. They've left a lot to be tied up but that purgatory idea is interesting. Good and evil fighting for the souls of the dead.

Just a small 1lb loss this week. Fat is getting harder and hard to lose now, diet has to be "perfect" in order for fat loss to continue at this point.

Can't wait for the weigh in tomorrow. I am looking better and better each week. Getting compliments in the gym a lot as well.

But fat on the stomach is going as slow as can be! Insulin is a pain in the ass!

What kind of insulin are you using- synthetic or natural?

I am type one diabetic so I use a quick acting insulin at meals which is called Humalog and a longer acting one before bed called Lantus.

Both make it hard to lose fat. When insulin is present in the body, especially the kind that I use, Growth Hormone is blunted (a great hormone for fat loss and muscle gain) and lipolysis which the breakdown of fat is also just about stopped. so as you can see, fat loss is hard for a diabetic haha

So I am doing my best with time my insulin around certain meals. I have gotten my insulin sensitivity way up there which is awesome. I am using probably 1/3 of what I was using back in the winter

but this will not stop me! I have been trying to get abs for 4 years now and yet to do it! I am closer than I ever have been. Will I have them by the end of this contest? No, but I am not stopping until I get them this summer. 4th of July would be nice!

I am type one diabetic so I use a quick acting insulin at meals which is called Humalog and a longer acting one before bed called Lantus.

Both make it hard to lose fat. When insulin is present in the body, especially the kind that I use, Growth Hormone is blunted (a great hormone for fat loss and muscle gain) and lipolysis which the breakdown of fat is also just about stopped. so as you can see, fat loss is hard for a diabetic haha

So I am doing my best with time my insulin around certain meals. I have gotten my insulin sensitivity way up there which is awesome. I am using probably 1/3 of what I was using back in the winter

but this will not stop me! I have been trying to get abs for 4 years now and yet to do it! I am closer than I ever have been. Will I have them by the end of this contest? No, but I am not stopping until I get them this summer. 4th of July would be nice!

heh...sorry to hear that..Im in the Cardiac unit this month. So unless she had an MI (god forbid), I probablly won't see you =) which is a good thing.

Hopefully she didn't get admitted, but if she did, I would love to come by and say hi.

kinda a so so week by me started a new job tons of changes in the environment at home so wasnt in the best place to keep diet strong also was an off week from EC and upped cals a bit gonna start cardio and EC back up tomorrow gonna kick it back up a few notches good job to everyone still staying committed

Ok so my question was "is it synthetic or natural" insulin? I would look it up myself if I had time. I would assume Humulin is human insulin, but I dont know about the Lantus.

When my sister was using a synthetic insulin, she had tough times (and had been on synthetic since she was 18 months old), but when she turned about 26 yrs old (6 yrs ago) she switched to human insulin the curse (for her) was lifted.

This is why I am interested in if you use synthetic or natural.

That's part of my grand strategy. Outlast em! :).

Gotta make sure to get my post in for this week because it will be Aruba time come Thursday! Hopefully can keep a lot of seafood on my plate and not a "SEE-FOOD" diet (where I eat everything I see). Don't wanna give back ANY of the progress I've made in the last month, but can use a break from the gym.

Ms tropix ur suggestion was to add a woman's prize if the numbers evened out... Maybe we should drop a womans prize an add it to the mens side, lol jk :P

Hellloo! I'm back at home, I think I'm sober again, and I'm ready to get back on track...
Last night I continued my vacation-bender, but now I only have 1 week until surgery so I gotta be really good and not mess around.

I'm about to go to the scale (which I'm honestly very scared to do) and get a damage report... and I got about 6 pages to get caught up on :o

Yeah, that is the one thing I'm counting on - all of our activities we have planned are fairly physical (like a 4 hour sea kayaking tour, going on a hike to explore some of the caves there, etc). The Westin is supposed to have a pretty nice gym, but I think I may avoid it all together - while my diet hasn't always been on point, I'm not sure that I've missed a aworkout going back to like October or November. Either that, or maybe I'll just do like a VERRRRY light full body workout as a deload 2x while I'm there.

Last night I continued my vacation-bender, but now I only have 1 week until surgery so I gotta be really good and not mess around.

I'm about to go to the scale (which I'm honestly very scared to do) and get a damage report... and I got about 6 pages to get caught up on :o

bla this last week was horrible both diet and exercise wise. Some reason I have just not felt like working out lately. I am back on the diet today and will be doing some light work this week

I spent all weekend working on the yard, canoeing and building a rabbit hutch for my kids. The weather has really heated up here and I love it. It's great to just get as much extra exercise as I can in addition to my regular cardio and lifting. God I love summer! The fact that it's also too hot to eat as much as usual is just a bonus.

It's to bad that so many people have been DQ'ed, but the real bummer is that the people left are kick ass hard core. :( That's motivation enough for me to try to finish hard. Even if I'm not a top 3'er at least I feel good about the changes I've made. That's all that really counts in the end. Well...other than being a winner. :)

Thanks! I don't know if I LOVE it yet, but I've been feeling like I need to do it lately. Hopefully I can keep this up and see more results soon. I also did 30 mins on the stairmaster after my run. It was a pretty intense workout!

After a carb up then a random night of drinking then another carb up i am 8lbs up this week and hitting the gym asap. Should be a great weight workout! The 8lbs will be gone in 3 days or so :)

Wait a few days before weighing yourself. Let the bloat and water retention subside and then see where you're at... it will save you a lot of panic.

It's a new week... now you can move forward even stronger. Try not to stress about it, what's done is done... look how much you've accomplished so far!

I wasn't planning to until at least Wednesday. I am back on track but I just feel so stupid for letting myself cheat so much and the worse part is, I didn't enjoy it at all.

The only time I have ever been camping was when I was married- over 10 yrs ago and thats cause we were homeless with him, LOL. I told myself I would never visit another camp ground as long as I lived.

Then I moved into the deep rocky mountains of Colorado when we divorced. That was like camping, but better cause I lived there in a regular house, lol. Then I learned to love the outdoors and frequented our Colorado river and took up some fishin- but never actually stayed the night anywhere camping yet. Dont wanna curse myself.

In our dreams did I say to add a prize for the women, lol. What I said was that if we lose enough men, we should drop the 5th place prize for them-cause a 5th place seemed like a lot. I could understand a 4th place, but not a 5th.

But anyway...At the start of the contest, I counted an average of 15 MALE contestants per prize package, and 5 prize packages offered, but now 16 male contestants have been DQ'd and to me that means its time to drop the 5th place prize and starts putting even a 4th place in jeopardy with -1 male contestant of 15 average.

Good thing I aint in the mens challenge, so my point of view is void. Y'all lucky I didnt manage this contest, lol.

i have not lost anymore weight, but i am still exersisng and dieting.i have two ear infections. mama gave me liquid vitmin c, a multivitmin, naproxen and ear drops. i have never had a ear infection before.i feel dumb because we are going to panera to play cards and i cant hear with cotton in my ears.

i tried to change the (-10 OBF) under my avatar, but it says that service is no longer avalable. im not -10 anymore so can that be taken off?

yea, i honestly cant wait to see the finale...

Even though my body will look incredibly different and my lifts will have literally doubled, I doubt ill win. From the last one, the judges only picked guys who went from very tiny gut to abs... :( I wont have visible abs at the end of this, I started with too much fat, and have too much belly loose skin.

But itll be insane seeing the transformations, I cant wait.

i would love to place...but so many people doing awesome. i have used this as a tool to motivate myself and making some good headway to a body i could be proud of. i had already lost a ton of weight before i found this place. id love to be leaner...200 lbs...or bit heavier but looking better would be good to me!

NoOoOoO. My math was averaged off according the number of "original" contestants. If we were to recalculate the math according to the number of contestants left- that would be a different story and we would get the number you came up with.

I looked at the list of prizes at the start of the contest, but I didnt know what any of it was, so I lost interest, lol. I guess if ya know what it all is and what it does and how it can aid in your fitness goals, it would be more of an incentive to keep an eye on the prize.

I ate a lot this weekend so I cut today's calories down to 1400. Back up to 1900-2000 cal tomorrow. I'm cutting back on my caffeine this week, my tolerance is getting too high.

Work was hell on earth because all I wanted to do was go back home and get in bed.

But since I am leaving in less than 2 weeks (actually moving in 3 weeks, but leaving my job in 2... taking that week in between to pack and move to new town) I had alot to get done and 2 new people to train.

I was feeling a bit better today but not 100% yet. I was told to lay low still but after seeing the scale this morning I said HELL TO THE NO!!!

So I am back at it, going to clean up my diet this week and try to drop some fat before moving to a new town.

Thats how I always feel. Nickel and dimin it. Ever since Blsmith told me my scale is a 1/10 scale, I have been tellin people I lose 1/10 of a pound a day, lol.

I am seriously considering knocking out the last week of each month on keto as soon as the OBF challenge is complete. I want to see some faster weight loss than I have seen thru the OBF. I have done keto a couple of times in the past with results, but since I hate meat I developed a gag reflex and decided enough was enough- BUT I think I can handle only one week out of a month to burn an added pound or two that I might not lose without keto.

So its been a stressful couple of weeks, long story short, I've been in the process of moving.

Good News, I'm down to 177lbs ~18%BF
Bad News, I've hit a Plateau

I've been doing PSMF on and off since the beginning of the competition, and I've shed a ton of weight since January 1 (weighed in around 222lbs at that time).

With the PSMF I have not been doing any cardio (since the caloric intake has been so low).

I need a change, and your recommendations would be fantastic. I'd like to get down to at least 170lbs and 15%BF.

Can you please PM me and point me in the right direction of a good change after PSMF to shed that last remaining BF.

For the contest, have lost 22lbs. Since I started cutting in January, have lost 33lbs. Got my body fat measured 2 weeks ago at 11%, so getting any lower is really hard!

Doesn't it take several days for your body to get into ketosis anyway? I'm just wondering if week long keto stints would even be worth it.

VERY nicely done. That is absolutely huge.

Even though my body will look incredibly different and my lifts will have literally doubled, I doubt ill win. From the last one, the judges only picked guys who went from very tiny gut to abs... :( I wont have visible abs at the end of this, I started with too much fat, and have too much belly loose skin.

But itll be insane seeing the transformations, I cant wait.

I can't wait either. I'm going to be lazy and ask, does anyone have a link handy to past OBF results pages? It's probably stickied in the forum and I'll feel like an idiot, but nothing I ain't done before! :)

not always. For some it can but for those who have been doing it a while it can take less than a day. It also depends on how many carbs were consumed before carbs are cut and how much training is done on the first day carbs are cut. Heck, i can get into ketosis in less than 12hrs if i wanted to. I've also stayed in ketosis after eating 150+ carbs. So many variables with keto it's
insane. :/

...a week of keto is definitely worth it if you want to lose 3-10lbs of water weight.

Spent some time in PEI over the weekend, drove one set of parents to the airport on Sunday still have the other set with us for the next 7 days. Workouts have still been hit and miss, getting in for some weights or the occasional cardio-only session, but definitely not as much as I would like. Unfortunately I feel that most of my progress has been lost, although I don't feel that I've gained any, I've definitely been stuck at my current weight for a number of weeks. Hopefully I can start getting into the gym a little more now that we've taken the parents to see most of the sights already. Right now I would be extremely happy to get down to 250ish by the end of this.

Also got engaged last week, and as such the GF (now Fiance I guess) has declared that my wedding diet must get started even though the date is just over a year away. :D

VERY nicely done. That is absolutely huge.

I think I'm down 11-12 lbs for the contest and am probably only at 14-15% now, and it still feels like a battle to knock off 1lb/week.



Thanks man, getting down to 11% was no picnic. Cardio 4x/week and Weights 5x/week all while eating about 2k cals. Have eased up on the cardio a little and eating about 500 more cals now, weight is maintaining so far.

So I spent Sunday running around the park with my kiddo and my knee hurt the whole time. Off to the doctor it looks like. Stupid stupid me.

I'm getting a little stressed since I have the warrior dash coming up July 10th, and I haven't been running since I did that 10km. And the race is probably minimum 12km.

I'm thinking about giving the pool a shot for cardio just to keep SOME endurance up so I don't fall behind the pack in the race. Not to mention I'm a terrible swimmer so it should be a great work out :P

NoOoOoO. My math was averaged off according the number of "original" contestants. If we were to recalculate the math according to the number of contestants left- that would be a different story and we would get the number you came up with.

I looked at the list of prizes at the start of the contest, but I didnt know what any of it was, so I lost interest, lol. I guess if ya know what it all is and what it does and how it can aid in your fitness goals, it would be more of an incentive to keep an eye on the prize.

I dont even remember what prizes were listed but my prize is getting healthy and feeling so much better. I put up my supps for a bit cause something interacted bad and spiked my blood pressure, not sure what it was but I did take a fat burner at that time and was using a nitric oxide product. Maybe a mixture of both.

Wow it sounds like almost everybody is really struggling this week. Sometimes it is good to take it easy for a week if you have been going hard at it for a few months, I basically ended up taking last week off since I only got to the gym 2 times last week. I was totally drained mentally and physically., I feel much much better this week and had a great workout yesterday and today. Best in a few weeks as a matter of fact.

If you need to take a week off recharge yourself eat at maintenace don't overdo it on cheats and start fresh the next week. It will do you a whole lotta good.

There is still time in this challenge to further your goals and for most of us this won't be the end of it anyway.

Good Luck to everyone the remainder of this week and take care of those minds and bodies~

For the contest, have lost 22lbs. Since I started cutting in January, have lost 33lbs. Got my body fat measured 2 weeks ago at 11%, so getting any lower is really hard!

I'm a little slow off the draw this morning, called in sick to work cause I woke up with a sore throat and felt a lil under the weather... now that I got 6 hours more sleep than I usually do in an evening, I'm going to go hit the cardio and weights for a while and try to burn off this evil, evil weight gain from my vacation

It took a few days to actually overtake me, but I am now officially sick myself now. Nose and throat-slight cough. Lacy has ear infections and my sister has a fever. Blah.

Speaking by personal experience...It will take me two days to get into ketosis with no prep work. That leaves me 5 days of turnin on my fat burnin machine.

If I do keto for one week and hit my regular diet up again, I wll still continue to burn a lil more fat for another couple days but it will bottom out and everything will be back to normal without weight gains.

YES its so worth it and knocking out one week per month doing this will keep my metabolism on its toes.

Yes. Well explained. I do have water retention that I am suppose to be on lasix for, but I dont take them. Keto will spill the water as you said and as long as I keep truckin along the water retention/flesh pitting will go away and already has receded since the start of this contest- yet still have a ways to go.

Yep, exactly...gotta be careful what ya feed your body. Not all supps are ok to take and not all work with our unique body chemistry and supps can even cause health issues in a perfectly healthy individual. Its so risky the pills we pop. Guilty of it myself.

Anybody out there have a third row of abs thats visible to show a 6 pack? I'm starting to have a 4 pack but the 3rd row is not visible at all...i can feel it but I'm not sure b/c i've never had a 6 pack in my life.

I been doing mainly weighted leg lifts and weighted cable crunches for my abs. My upper abs seem to stick out further (size wise) i think due to weighted crunches.

Do i need to do more or heavier lower ab workouts....or is the lower abs just a matter of getting a lot lower body fat for it to be visible?

Reps for help. thanks.....i'm losing motivation.

Today I had 2 x 45 minute sessions on the exercise bike, one before and one after, my 58 minute full body weightlifting session.. I would have done more cardio (since I had the whole day off), but the cable guy (got digital cable now!) came earlier than I expected and took longer (cables outside how to be changed out etc etc) than I had anticipated... so I had to wait extra long time to get to business. But now things should be settling back to normalcy... Going to football practice tonight to just make an appearance, then back home to clean and maybe BBQ some pork chops with the roommate! om nom nom nom

I just ride my older mountain bike Ive had for years. I really need to invest in road bike, but do not know much about them. I love to ride though, been a hobby of mine for a couple years.

I think it's generally a courtesy on boards that don't have a "hide reply" options (where you have to click to reveal the message) to post "BIGGEST LOSER SPOILER ALERT" followed by several hard returns so someone doesn't accidentally come across those things.

ESPECIALLY, when the thread topic has nothing to do with teh show so someone wouldn't know or be expecting show spoilers. It's not like this is the "Biggest Loser Discussion thread" which I'm sure exists in miscellaneous or somewhere on the forum.

Dont make excuses...I have had a f*cked up back for years now. I keep getting re injured over and over again, but I keep going. Friday I just re injured my back for the third time this year. It isnt gonna stop me! Yeah, sure, I cant lift, but I can still stick to a diet and do some light cardio. Just sayin...

Listen to GymRatLuke. There is so much you can still do that will not hurt your back further-in fact work on strengthening the muscles in it by taking a different approach for starters. If you cant envision your goal you had set for the cempetition then change your goals.

not too great... it can be a hard decision to sleep more or exercise lol both are pretty important!!


I passed out a little before 10, but I was up for about 30 minutes at 11 for whatever reason... don't know when I managed to get back to sleep, but I was up at 5am, hit the snooze, and debated whether or not to do cardio. Then I remembered... this time next week, I won't have that option. SO GET IT DONE! Forced out of bed to the bike... did the best I could.

I will stick to a diet no matter what, but the thing with even cardio is my back is in some serious pain and any kind of movements hurts. It doesn't look good I could barely walk straight. I'm gonna go to the doctor tomorrow have it checked out and hopefully it is nothing serious, but Idk when I'll be able to work out again

Definitely feeling better this morning. Got some good news yesterday that I am getting back a piece of history in my life that was one of my fondest memories. That definitely lifted my spirits.

Good chest workout last night. Today I won't be hitting the gym, as it is my wife and I's 9th anniversary. Going to make a special meal for her. :)

so i am sorta digging this getting up early thing to workout. it feels so refreshing to walk out the door in the morning, smell the grass in the front yard, hear the birds...suns just coming up. i know...sounds odd, but anyone else like this?

then when i walk out of the gym I feel like I did so much already! Normally on weekends too I could sleep in so long but this past sat I was up at 7 am, out of bed at 730 and being productive right away. Even sunday I did well, went to breakfast with son for first time in a long time.

i dont know, maybe im being strange. lol. only think i REALLY need to work on is a push to 7 hours of sleep at least. thats in bed at 930pm for me. Id be happy with least being in bed by then!

I'm hoping to hit 135 before my surgery but it's lookin like a far cry ATM lol silly me going a little too all out on vacation...
You must be pretty friggin lean to weigh that much and be a full half foot taller than me lol

u guys that are laying out side....or just getting ur color outside...use anything special to help get color or just the normal sunscreen stuff?

I usually stay out about 30 to 45 min. I'm fairly pale, so I got to go slow.

Also, my gym has tanning beds and I may use that twice a week for 10 min.

And with all that... I'm still "off white"! LOL

Anybody out there have a third row of abs thats visible to show a 6 pack? I'm starting to have a 4 pack but the 3rd row is not visible at all...i can feel it but I'm not sure b/c i've never had a 6 pack in my life.

I been doing mainly weighted leg lifts and weighted cable crunches for my abs. My upper abs seem to stick out further (size wise) i think due to weighted crunches.

Do i need to do more or heavier lower ab workouts....or is the lower abs just a matter of getting a lot lower body fat for it to be visible?

Reps for help. thanks.....i'm losing motivation.

Can barely see the top row, plus the ridges of my obliques. The rest I can FEEL... right through the fat!

hey guys just had to catch up on all the action over the last 2 days sounds like some people are really getting it done smashing goals and breaking plateaus. i personally love doing some morning cardio although this morning it was hawtttt but you gotta do what you gotta do in order to get those abs to show...still deciding whether or not to hit the gym after work today or the basketball court hmmm since theres about 5 weeks left it looks like im going to make some minor tweaks so get to my NEW goal of 175ish since my initial goal was 195 haha

QUESTION ON SKIN PRODUCTS!

I was wondering if anyone could give me some specific products (brands or just generic types) that help with either firming the skin, or making stretch marks shrink/disappear? Even any vitamin pills that may aid... My stomach is REALLY bothering me. I have BioOil somewhere at home, but it's currently MIA... and I've never used it long enough to see if there were any real results.

I'm pretty sure I asked this somewhere in the past, but... this is a big thread. lol

Sooooo....

I REACHED MY GOAL WEIGHT!!! 138lbs!!!!

As of right now NEW goal weight is 135lbs!! WOOOOOOOO!!! I'm so excited...oh my goodness :D
