Well, have to report the bad with the good I suppose. Up 0.4 lbs this morning. It has been really stressful the last couple of days plus I haven't been able to go to the bathroom and I am sure that is the cause. I am sure it is just a temporary glitch and I will be back to losing tomorrow.

There's nothing really "bad" about that at all my man. .4 lbs is nothing, especially at your weight, those sort of fluctuations are totally normal. If you were up like 8 lbs or something I may be worried, but there is absolutely no need to stress over that. Just keep KILLING it like you have been.

I've heard that too about dairy products generally (and have noticed that as I have added more milk/yogurt into my diet). TMI?

ive been looking at the Pyssilium Husk too for a bit. Just seeing if I need anything else in an order before I place it.

I like psyllium husk, easy way to add some fiber, and also makes protein/sludge concoctions just a touch more filling!

After being stuck at 184 for like two weeks, I finally had a break through and dropped down to 182 this morning. And I think think think that for probably the first time ever, my abs are slowly starting to peek through this layer of fat.

http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/962/dsc00018vx.jpg

And just for $hits and giggles, I tied a personal best on press today with 150 for 2 reps (and the last time I did this, I was 12-14 lbs heavier). I'll take it!

Gettin' the powder or capsules? And for the extra money take a look at profiber, honestly its well worth the money....tasteless and formula is top notch

Awesome MP! not sure about your progress but this after pic is solid man GJ (no homo)

You add the pysillium powder into your shakes and sludge????? I've been just taking it str8 in water, kinda ruff lol doesn't mix all that great so I just down it real quick :o

FrmrHoss
05-13-2010, 08:51 AM
I don't add it to the shakes, but I do to the sludge and to some carbless pancake recipes. Add's some thickness to it, doesn't really taste like anything in there, and you get the added fiber benefit!

Down 1lb from last week. I am now at the point now where it is a real fight for each lb lost. Had a body fat caliper analysis done at my gym the other day and clocked in at 11% BF, only a few more lbs now until I hit my goal!

Having an active job certainly would help... You have less time to sit and do nothing (and snack) and you're actually being active... I got a desk job basically, I sit around thinking of food all day... lame lol

I only eat 2 tiny meals during the work day. That means I get like 1500 cals to eat AFTER I get home from my workout before bed. Makes it so I am full as f*ck and dont even wanna cheat! :p

Hey, if walking the golf course counts for cardio then I am happy to report I have gotten in 3 cardio sessions this spring so far. :)

I think I've read before that if you walk a round of golf, you average around 7-8 miles. I mean, if you think about it, a 7000 yard course is like 5 miles if you didn't have to walk hole to hole, and walked in a direct line tee-to-green. God knows I must walk like 12 miles when I play ;)

Same here. Sometimes I just try to find recipes all day long that I can make when I get home. Slow days at the office succccck.

my diets been up and down this week...roughly at the same weight..but I figured out my diet problem and am zeroed in on it now until hopefully the end of the contest.

Sucks having a desk job...def puts you at a disadvantage to those who run around at work for 8-12 hours.

Same boat as you beef...I get in roughly 1-2 hours a day of exercise while spending the rest sitting down

So the gym has been impossible to get to for the last couple days (as has work) since my kiddo has a pretty bad chest cold. I took him to daycare today cause he seems to be on the mend, but I'm not going to work just in case I have to bring him home.

I was pretty amped to rock the gym this week, so I'm feeling a tad bit of frustration that I couldn't get there. Not my kiddos fault of course, just frustrated, and tomorrow I'm doing my back to back 24hr shifts, so there's no chance of a workout till Sunday.

Actually, that's not totally true. I'm going to do a p90x workout today here at home.

well today is the 3rd time this week that diabetes has gotten in the way on cardio. :(

Yesterday morning woke up with a low blood sugar of 41 (70 is considered low) so I couldnt do my cardio.

Was gonna do it when I got home. Was low when i got home around 5:30pm.

This AM i was 37!!!!! when i woke up. thank god I did not wake up in the hospital!

So I am going to try and catch up on it on saturday.

My insulin sensitivity is sky high right now. which is good for fat loss, but i need to make some adjustments to my doses

You will be okay. My sister was born with Diabetes, so I know what you are going thru. Good news is she figured out what works for her to keep from getting lows as a result of exercising so YOU CAN TOO!

I have a friend who was also diabetic. She didnt use her insuilin because she wanted to use her "highs" to lose weight. She also lost her kidneys and her life along with it- so I hope she got everything she wanted out of her plan...

lmao @ Miss Sunshine... wow... that's not something I'm used to hearing(srs).. :D

LOL

I have lots of fibre in the diet, just one of those days where I just can't go. If I am still having trouble tonight I will take a couple Of senokot pills to help.

In a day I will eat a whole bag of salad and 3 cups of peas or corn, so I should have NO problem with fibre! LOL

Honey, are you drinkin 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water DAILY? If you have enough water/liquids in your gut to keep the crap from being dehydrated, you shouldn't start having these problems.

NOTE TO ANYONE TAKING LAXATIVES: Also taking laxatives (even a little bit) can weaken the poop shoot muscles and your body will have trouble passing the waste on its own- thus retreating to more laxatives...

Also laxatives draw water from other areas in your body to provide the fluid to the gut, and I read most of that fluid is drawn from the brain. SCARY thought.

Like you said- it's probably temporary for reasons you explained, but if it continues and you are getting enough fluid intake- see a Dr before you get hemorrhoids from constipation or other serious complications. :)

ive been looking at the Pyssilium Husk too for a bit. Just seeing if I need anything else in an order before I place it.

I have used 100% Psyllium Husk for a few years now. I don't use the full dose. I just add a good size pinch to my morning protein shakes. I also buy the box of 100% fiber flakes from the cereal section and pour a pinch of that on a meal here and there or cook with it.

I see some cheat images getting posted, yum! I am going to pass on my cheat this weekend. My weight has stalled way too long for me to think its ok to cheat. Thing is my scale was dropping dropping dropping last week, then day before Mothers Day, I only needed to drop .1 to reach my new weight- but I ate Mothers Day and gained 6 pounds, LOL. It all came off, but I still wanna see that last number drop to make my new weight.

Anyways. I've come to a startling epiphany. I've been at this for some time (and I posted this in a blog some time ago. I guess I'm coming to it again) and I've made progress, you bet. You can see the wear and tear on my belt from changing the notches, I can run 10km, when I couldn't run 1km before, I walk a little straighter, hold my head a little higher, etc.

However, I've been at this for nearly two years, and I think my amount of dedication shows in my results. Half hearted effort yields half hearted results.

I was just looking in my mirror (naked, ooh la la) and you know what? I actually got mad. I always hear people saying "You just need to get mad and do it!"

Why have I been putting all this effort in, why does it consume my thoughts? Seriously. Why am I so focused on doing this, if I'm not going to do it right?

I'm young, newly single, mom to a great little boy and basically have every opportunity to do it right. So I've had it with all my excuses or reasons for it not happening.

Did you know that I didn't get ONE stretch mark during my pregnancy? NOT ONE. I should be bouncing off the walls showing off my tummy, but I don't, because I still haven't manned up and lost ze fat.

No more I say!

Haha, holy crap, what a friggin novel.

I just destroyed my shoulders, traps, and abs. I felt amazing. On another note here are some good protein sources for people. This is just some of many:

Dymatize Elite Protein( so far Fudge Brownie is excellent in chocolate milk for post-workout shake)
Xtreme Formulations Ultra Peptide 2.0(Chocolate Peanut Butter or any kind)
Thermolife Vasolate( Chocolate Peanut Butter or Strawberry)

These are amazing excellent protein sources.

Thanks for the reply beefy :)

I feel ya there Roz. We get out what we put into this... there have been so many times when I look back over the past 6-7 months, and am happy where I am now, but I think about where I COULD have been had I been 100% dedicated. But all we can do is take it one day at a time, and use that resolve to keep pushing us forward from this point on. That fact that we haven't done it yet is NOT a reason that we can't do it. And we will.

ASK.
05-13-2010, 03:38 PM
I'm quite interested in this... be sure to keep us updated.
Do you have a log for it?

I'll be interested in seeing how this works out for you. Definitely keep us posted!

Go for it Roz! One stone at a time. Approach diet/training with a controlled manner and you'll do great.

So excited. The semester is officially over for me!!

I really wanted to start my first day after the semester with a nice long cardio session at the gym but I got a call back today. Instead of cardio I will be interviewing at Williams Sonoma tomorrow. Oh well, I'll take it! I needs a job/money.

Everyone wish me luck!

well I broke down and got a gym membership. I used to workout at home, which was fine, but I think the competitiveness I'll get from a gym will help me and get me excited to workout again. Signed up for 6 PT sessions too, just to have someone there to boost me too. :)

I am outta food over here. My sister left with the cash card this afternoon and isn't back yet to hand it over to me, lol, so my mom is calling her to tell her to get home with it now so I can get to the store before they close at 10pm- oh but she isn't answering her phone, yay.

So we were going to get out kitchen remodeled- turns out we have been adopted to get a whole new make-over in every room of our house and they are ripping out the old deck I fell thru and putting in a huge one and throwing a grill and all kinds of neat stuff out there!!!!!! What a blessing. The house gets gutted in June. Measurements were taken today so it has begun.

This turned out to be like a home make-over on HGTV.

it was pretty good.. i popped EC at 430 then thermogum at 7 when i went to the gym and felt a really good boost

even without EC, thermogum would give decent energy thru a workout/day.. flavor was ok, nothin great, and made me feel thirsty so thats actually good to make sure i drank enough water

MsTropix - What a great thing to have happen to you! Exciting!

I have decided that since I'm working full time, and trying to do this getting healthy thing right, I deserve to treat myself to a trainer once a week. I'm going to talk to my gym on monday and see who will fit best with my goals and push me the best. I can afford 30-60$ a week.

I'm in a wedding in December that's taking place in Dominican. Gonna look smokin' in that teeny tiny bikini!

well last night was legs!

I wanted to try something different. To shock the legs. So I tried Erik Frankhouser's "Centuries"

You do one plate per side for 10, then 2 per side for 20. Only resting long enough to load the machine. Eventually getting to 10 per side for 100 reps. Which I do not think is humanly possible. Frankhouser claims to have done 8 per side for 80.

Here is a video of the leg presses as well as some leg and calve posing

yMsqxB9Q7iA

So the workout:

Centuries
1 x 10
2 x 20
3 x 30
4 x 24
Total of 84 Reps!

The pump was so bad, I could not even stand. I took my HemaNOvol before this, BAD IDEA haha it made the pump even more intense. For other workouts HemaNOvol is great because the pumps get so intense

After that I loaded it all the way. Even though 10 mins later the pump was still crazy! 10 per side and pushed it for 3 then dropped off 4 plates per side and got 10.

Today is my carb day! I am excited!!!!!

I can't view the video right now.. but that sounds friggin INTENSE dude...
I'd probably switch it up (reps order) to make it more manageable but it'd still be close to impossible lol 1 plate x 100 -> 10 plate x 10. Definitely not able to do that right now haha... It's definitely something I'd be interested in trying out in the future though, maybe a year or 2 lol

I just figured out what to do and I stick to the plan... it's pretty easy to get it done once you got it all figured...

I've noticed it's just suddenly become harder for me to get my HR up during bike cardio so I think it's time I start abusing my treadmill more frequently, because in a couple weeks I'll be stuck to the bike and rower for who knows how long! Better mix it up while I can...

Weight has stayed the same today. Still not able to go. This is getting frustrating now. Hate feeling cramped. Ah well. I shouldn't expect a pound a day loss every day.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Don't sweat it Brian! Things don't usually happen super consistently... takes time to find the pattern you're following and then it gets easier! Like, last week I only lost 0.88lbs, and this week I whooshed twice or so. Just stay on track and you'll get there :)

Yeah, I def need more sleep too. My DOMS last forever :( Makes it hard to keep pushing in the next workout when your still recovering from the previous workout. Never ending cycle of pain, lol.

I hear that... My legs feeling pretty jelly-like lately. I suppose I should be happy I even made the effort to exercise while sick lol. I ordered some new DoubleT products so they should be here shortly.. I'm excited... :D

Well it looks like every one is doing pretty good. Im also seeing some bad but great junk food pix popping up on peoples radar. I know it has popped up on mine.
Yesterday had to have some home cooking. My In-laws are in town and mother in law can cook! I really dont think I did to bad. This week for me has been only one day at the gym, so far. The other days have been pretty hard also.
We are still working on the yard and that is pretty hard work, especially with the wife in charge!! hehe.

Well since I am up early (for me). I better hit the gym before I sit on the couch..
Then nothing will get done!

changed my macros around in my diet to around 40/40/20 and getting alot of good nutrient dense foods now...hopefully this is the change that I needed...this week has been meh as far as the diet goes...my workouts however has seen alot of improvement which I am happy about.

Got 2 more workouts for the week and so far have burned 2338 calories just in my workouts. The strapped heart rate watches really do help and add that extra step when it comes to zeroing in on your diet.

Don't forget that cheats can be very beneficial :) both mentally and in the form of a metabolism boost. And don't stress out about any of this that just makes it that much harder to drop weight. I have no clue what your diet consists of but one "free" meal a week is a good thing imo

Checking in today. I've been sick for a whole week. Bad sinus infection and possibly the flu. I haven't been strong enough to work out, but I finally forced myself to get on the treadmill and lifted weights last night. I'm hoping to gain strenght over the next few days as I'm finally pulling out of it. I feel like I've put myself back at least two weeks.

Hello OBFers

I haven't updated all week. Things are going pretty slow on my end over the last 2 weeks. Last week i didn't lose any weight and this week i'm up a pound. I added cardio 3 weeks ago and it's like it's having the opposite effect. Not sure what the heck is going on but i'm going to change my w/o program next week to something a little more intense.

I'm going to take some measurements and hopefully this will tell me something. i know i look more vascular in the arms this week, which helps.

I should note that i started eating this protein bar daily that has sugar alcohols in it, which has played some havoc with my system. From my research, these sugar alcohols will hold water as well. These protein bars are freaken good though.

I'm not straying from the diet, other than the protein bars (one a day, 200cal) and i've been hitting the weights 4 days a week and cardio 5 days. Soooo, have i hit a plateau? Am i over training (unlikely)? I don't know. I'll change up my routine at the gym and see if it helps. I'm also going to drop some of the cardio and replace it with HIIT 3 times a week.

This has been my only post this week so i think this stall has my motivation down a bit.

I can't view the video right now.. but that sounds friggin INTENSE dude...
I'd probably switch it up (reps order) to make it more manageable but it'd still be close to impossible lol 1 plate x 100 -> 10 plate x 10. Definitely not able to do that right now haha... It's definitely something I'd be interested in trying out in the future though, maybe a year or 2 lol

yea very intense! Nice change from my normal leg training. i normally just do 2 sets. I will throw these in once a month or so. So much room to progress with these!

Ok so I've been back to my normal routine pre-tri training for the past 2 weeks:
*Back/Bis
*Legs/Shoulders
*Chest/Tris
*Rest Day
*Repeat (with Abs,Calves, & Lower Back exercises done each training day. Abs/Calves I alternate Heavy-Low Rep w/ Light-High Rep, and the lower back exercises done daily are simply:
*parachutes on the floor
*reverse hyper extensions on a ball w/ no added weight

[color=red]The reason for the lower back exercises done daily is because I work my abdominal muscles daily. And a strong core with a weak lower back = Disaster. And that disaster may come in the form of an injury during a weighted back or leg exercise or something as simple as "throwing your back out" when bending over to pick up a pencil...which is what happened to a dear friend of mine. She's built like a rock and has abs that look like they were carved from stone, but she never worked it's mate, aka lower back, and so they couldn't balance each other out.[/red]

^^And since I am no sports physiologist or guru (work in progress through ;) ), all of the above my have nothing to due with each other. But it makes sense to me, and really it can't hurt me but only help, so why not.

Real Updates, or at least the ones that count

1. My lifts are already back (yay muscle memory!!)
2. I took update pics just so I could compare to the start of contest.....HARDLY ANY CHANGE!!!! Grr. Since my weight is down almost 10lbs from the start, I'm betting I lost mucho muscle mass during those couple months (hardcore) of tri training...I also think I over-estimated caloric measurements. Since I lost so much, I wonder if I wasn't taking in enough and therefore lost too fast? Maybe not enough proteinz..hmm. Time to reevaluate.
.................But not sure how much I'll be able to accomplish in ~2weeks.

Garlic, Herbs, Salt, and Pepper.

Next time i'm going to try and spice it up with some Cayenne pepper and lime juice. The roughy is more tender than the tilapia and for an extra I heard it helps with loose skin.

Hello everyone, just wanted to see how people are doing. I like to think that I'm doing better but tonight I killed it with a pepsi and cheesecake but whatever. I'm going to post up a couple of really delicious home dinners that I've had in the past week and I'm pretty certain they are healthy!

Meal 1:
Chicken breast
1 Slice fresh ciabatta bread
3 Asparagus stalks
Half a cup of cantalope
Cup of 1% milk
Some baked potato pieces

Meal 2:
2 Chicken drum sticks
Homemade mashed potatoes
Small slice of fresh french bread
Strawberries and kiwi slices
Cup of 1% milk
Cup of lemonade

I've got a couple pictures I'll put up, they're delicious looking pictures!

Meals sound great! How did you prepare your chicken? I am so bored with baked chicken that I just "eat" it just because I have to.

Well the chicken breast I marinated in BBQ sauce for a couple hours ahead of time, if not overnight I can't remember. I then just grilled them up with some sauce on them to make the outside nice and grilled up. The drum sticks I took to skin off of and used italian seasoning to cover them in before baking them in the oven for a while. Greek seasoning also makes for a great chicken breast or drumstick as well!

Ahahaha.

I was at work today and we took the boys to the park, so I joined one of them on the swings.

I jumped once (and none of these little girly jumps either. I make sure I get some good air) and landed it, then rolled a little ways down the hill. Scraped my elbow, nothing to terrible.

Then I decided to jump again. With more height. I landed on one ankle and rolled it, then flipped onto my shoulder (so I was told, hahaha) It was tons of fun, but I'm paying the price with a sore ankle, twisted knee (which will be better tomorrow) and bruised scraped hips, hahaha. Plus some sexy gravel imprints on my hip.

I'm not as young as I used to be! I never used to have a problem landing these things!!!

sweet dream Ms. T. Hope you feel better soon! :)

Thank you. I slept for a couple hours then my gramma showed up with dinner and cards, lol. But at least I got some rest and I am retiring to bed early too- so hopefully I will sleep ALL NIGHT for a change.

OMG Im so proud of you girl. Maybe a little bit more carbs? Or orange juice? You are so rocking this thing!

Thank you chica. I had 3/4 cup of my grammas beef pasta w egg plant and tomato based sauce. It was really yummy but way too much salt for me. So I drank my gallon of water with it- no joke, lol. I am peeing like no tomorrow! I also ate a cup of mixed salad, and a teeny tiny garlic bread about the size of a 1/2 dollar, lol. This was my cheat. No more til next weekend.

I BBQ all of my meat (when I have meat) its the only way I will eat meat. Nothing is better than BBQ'd meals. Rain or shine. ;)

The proportions look tiny because I hate it when my food touches! But I would say there is a decent amount of food, plus those plates are at least 12 inches wide so it adds up.

Ttdskann, your dinners look fabulous- but it would drive me crazy to have all that extra space on my plate, so I use the size bigger than a saucer but smaller than a dinner plate for all my meals. Makes it look fuller and more presentable.

Tweaked something in my left shoulder the last session, so will lay off upper body for a bit to recoup. Just getting old I guess as I did nothing specific, maybe just an overuse thing.

GOOD MORNING.....? LOL

Yawwwwwwn. Sleep plan went sour and I am up 3 hrs too early for me. Lacy showed up here and wants a ride to work, blah.

I was going to fast Sunday as that is my set fasting day, but when gramma showed up with dinner last night, I did a 1/2 azz cheat, so I think I will fast today instead. We will see.

My undiagnosed Achilles Tendon is giving me grief already and I aint even been up 15 minutes yet, so I will be doing bed exercises to stay off my foot.

Morning all!

Sorry I haven't posted much lately but have family visiting : my wife received her Masters in Public Health yesterday.

Family members should be leaving today and my mother in law will be staying for the week.

Anyway, should be less busy and posting more often. I did gain some weight:(

Went to a ladies night party last night. Had a couple of drinks, but didn't do too bad overall. I never had a jello shot until last night and it wasn't half bad. I also had never been to a "marital aid" party before then, but that's another story entirely...

Didn't make it to the gym yesterday and probably won't make it today, but I've already put in some exercise and I'm going to keep doing so all day. Minimal eating, as well. Hoping for BIG results this week!

Just wanted to be "in" on this thread for my 200th post. :p

Can we take pictures on July 3? So holding a newspaper with the July 3, 2010 on it.
That way we have a little more time to look shredded ;)

And correct me if I am wrong, but I do believe that I am the only male 300 pounder left in this competition... :( I sorta feel like Michael on TBL last night.

I just saw this post. I felt so bad for Micheal. It's frustrating when you're working so hard, making great losses and and you're STILL behind the rest. Micheal has done an AMAZING job, though, and even though his frustration was perfectly understandable, he really needed to cut himself some slack. He's lost 200 freaking lbs so far in the competition!! He's totally transformed his body already. It didn't take him 16 weeks to put on all that weight and there's no way he could take all of it off in that short time frame. I suspect he just needed to blow off some steam and get his head back in the game, kwim?

The same goes for you, me, and anyone else that has/had more than 100 lbs to lose. It ain't going to come off overnight! And the process sure isn't going to be easy. That being said, I know you're going to reach your goal of being below 300 before this contest is over (yes, I remember when you said that! :D). You're really doing it! Look at how far you've come these last few weeks. Don't let the negativity sink in. You've got this!

I would think so because there is nothing stopping you from taking pics on July 3rd holding a paper from June 23rd and submitting on July 3rd.

After trying several different, healthier diets for weightloss I have finally went back to the diet I was on before my trip to the Bahamas/ the start of the competition. I started the week at 185 (which I have been stuck at or higher then since the beginning of the comp) and lost 3lbs. Finally! It is about time the weight loss has started. Feeling a lot better about things now though I still feel healthier in general from the beginning of the competition, weight loss or not.

Oh ok, I just saw that you ate a lil before you took those pictures- explains the extra space, lol. Did you fry the potato wedges? If so what did ya fry em in?

Actually didn't fry them! Just seasoned them up and baked them at about 450 degrees. Just got to keep an eye on them for when they get nice and brown and crispy!

I'm going drinking tonight...
and next weekend I'm going to Montreal! I've never been there before and I'm going to visit some friends and I'm SUPER excited!!!
It's highly unlikely I'll hit a gym or workout while I'm there but I'll definitely be walking around and partying a fair bit, that burns cals too :D

Montreal is a blast! I was born and raised there :) Not sure if Unity is still there but that was an awesome club!
