I'm back to eating carbs and i've put on 6lbs in less than a week. :( My waist and hips got a little bigger and I wake up in the morning now a little swollen. I hope it's just an adjustment my body needs to make. I've got more muscularity in my arms since i've added carbs so that's one good thing i guess.
bloated? how's your water intake?

Morning Weight : 232.0 lbs:confused:
Ok, this somewhat pisses me off and makes me happy at the same time. I had to wait 2 weeks to drop 1... yes 1 lb and now within 2 days I lose 3 lbs? WTF? What kinda sick mind game is my body playing with me:mad::mad:
Will see what it says tomorrow!

lol I totally feel ya brah.

She is in my prayers... hang in there:)

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL OF YOU THAT ARE KEEPING MY MOM IN PRAYER/THOUGHT!! XOXO.

Its been a heck of a challenge to keep the diet in check at a hospital, lol. I packed up my own food that wont spoil. Tryin to eat a snack every two hrs is complicating too as there are only 2 visitors allowed in mamas room at a time, so I am S.O.L if her sisters and mom are in the room where my food is, so I have experienced some starving to death moments, lol. I went to the cafeteria and bought a 6 dollar lamb salad. WAY too much cash for it, but it was good. Yes I did look at and smell their pizzas, burgers, soda pop, lol...but I grabbed the golden lettuce instead. Yay for me!

I posted updated pictures of myself a few minutes ago in my thread. I do see a difference, small as it might be. I think at this point my face has thinned out the most, but I have that blotted out, lol. Oh well. I see less folding under my arm on my side, less drooping of fat under my underarms, and a more defined curve thru my waist area. I dont see a change at all in my heffer legs. Maybe next time. These pix are two weeks apart.

MsTropix & MsTropixII, Good luck with your diets while dealing with the hospital time... hope your mom/gma is alright..

I also posted up some new progress pictures, beside my first set of pictures, in my log moments ago. I can see some pretty good progress actually :) It's nice to actually see a change for once!

If anyone is interested, go take a look, leave a comment, etc :)

water intake over the last couple of days could have been better. Definitely bloated and it's a feeling i really despise.

I'd try to get your water intake up and see if it doesn't flush it out. I never really cared about bloat until recently but I tried drinking more water this week and it helped a lot.

Feeling tired today. Swam laps and lifted last night. I'm adding calories for the weekend so I can get some yard work done. Pretty much doing well though. I think we'll skip the traditional Easter and have Grouper (ocean fish) instead since my hubby's dieting too. As long as the kids get candy from the Easter bunny they won't care.

hello everyone. instead of buying the eca stackers i am just going to use the guarana. my mom lost a lot of weight on that in 2001 so i am trying it too. my gramma is in the hospital. she has clots in her leg and many of them in her lungs so mama and i will not be online. we are still in the contest though. good luck.

Good luck to the both of you! And I wish the best for your Grandma!

awesome! Can I ask who you found?

I found someone in Regina Saskatchewan, since I'm moving back there in less than a month. His name is Bo, but it wont work for you unless you are ok with online consults :(

I know one of the trainers at my university gym (Ryerson) is a Bodybuilder, his name is Kristian...I don't his last name though. But I've seen him personal training, and he's actually seems really informative and good. Pretty sure people from outside Ryerson can book their personal trainers.

Now I know why I've gained fat in my life.

I was just looking up applebees nutrition info because I used to eat there reguarly and I looked up the item I always always get

http://www.livestrong.com/thedailyplate/nutrition-calories/food/applebees/boneless-buffalo-wings-wblue-cheese-dressing/

Boneless Buffalo Wings W/blue Cheese Dressing

Calories: 1724, Total Fat: 132g, Carbs: 30g, Protein: 106g

Applebees has a 50% off on appetizers after 10pm so I used to go there a lot and this what I would always order...god damn =( How could something that tastes so good be so bad for you =( I'm sure if I took the blue cheese out I would cut the cals and fats in half, but still thats ridiculous

Are those breaded wings too? if so cutting the blue cheese out drops just maybe 300 or so cals.

I love wings, and have checked so many wing places. Nonbreaded wings are roughly 80-100 cals a wing. breaded are closer to 130+ cals a wing

Horribler workout

First I like to workouts early in the morning before breakfast, today I worked out at 3
I took my wife with me and she was ganna do her thing, but she pushed herself too hard and threw up few times
So she started to watch me workout and kept complaining about me lifting havy. It was a buzz kill and it got me annoying so I just said **** it and went home

But on the bright side vitamin shoppe finally had that shaker mixer that I use, I love them but they break every 30 to 45 days

I always recommend bb.com to people I talk to at my gym and I also HOPE that someone will respond with "Oh I am a member too!" but so far no luck there... :(

I just got home from the hospital. Mama is hangin in there. While I was visiting I was strict with my diet. I ran out of bread for my sandwiches so another trip to the cafeteria, lol, but all I grabbed was a turkey sandwhich. I sliced it into 4 quarters and ate 1/4 every two hours. I only drank water all day. No mayo on it or nothing, just plain Jane. Oh and I also shared my sandwich, so I didnt get it all...rats, lol.

Bro, don't worry about me, after 19 months... I got this:D! I am not the type to change my diet just because my weight is up in the morning or down... I got a plan and stick to it. Also, I am not regular, meaning don't "drop the kids off at the pool" every morning or guarantee to do so every week at the same time.

I do weigh myself every day, since we're ont he topic. I have a notebook going back to the beginning of the year with my daily number. The accountability works for me and keeps me from bingeing.

The pollen in my area is driving me (or rather my nose) crazy!

Haha but other than that I had an awesome week of workouts. Hit a PR on my Squat (255lbs x 3), which is awesome considering I've cut 5lbs since this contest started. Or I guess technically I should say I hit a PR on my Squat with proper form... I remember quarter squatting 315 back in the day and thinking I was strong lmao.

I'm getting my diet dialed in nicely now too. I don't feel as hungry anymore... the green leafy veggies are really helping out in that department.

Hope everyone else is moving along nicely!!!

I'm hitting the gym again today. I usually don't go on Saturdays or 5 days a week but my cals were about 300 over maintenance yesterday so i need to even things out a bit. Going to do an entire body workout, nothing to intense because i've already worked all the muscles this week, and then i'm going to do about 40 min of cardio. That should even things out a bit. I'd like to be under maintenance today because tomorrow is Easter dinner and i suspect i'll go over again tomorrow.

Some of the water retention has gone down so that helps phsycologically.

Converting one of my movies to watch at the gym while i do cardio. That's how i watched the Hurt Locker and cardio goes by so fast when you've got something to watch. Today i'm going to start watching Behind Enemy Lines. It's an oldy but a good one with Owen Wilson and his best IMO.

no energy as I got up at 4 am from trouble sleeping/breathing (stuffed up nose).

Still, it was so nice out FINALLY that I went outside to walk/run around HS track for a mile for some cardio.

Good to get some sun while laboring around.

ps. I'm doing OK in the gym I guess, but not getting it done in the kitchen with my diet! I'm still hovering around 215.

I had an awesome shoulder & arm workout Friday. I had the day off so I went to the gym later than normal & had a longer workout. My arms felt like they were going to explode.

This is honestly the only Fat supplement that I can remember helping me. So I bought some more at wal mart 10.00 and I researched all the ingredients in it that is all natural if I might add.
Natural does not mean better. For supplements processed is actually better because it isolates the actives and removes potentially harmful chemicals.

All of the ingredients are reported as to clearify and detox the body of toxins from natural see weeds and plants ect.
There is no such thing as detox. If a product claims to detox run far away. Your body detoxifies itself. It's called your liver.

One of the ingredients was even written about to have been taken daily buy a asian man who have lived to the age of 132 years old.
Marketing bull****.

I disagree so long as you're looking at the long term trend and not the daily fluctuations. By weighing daily you can see how certain foods, dietary patterns and/or workouts affect you in the short term. I do agree with weighing in first thing in the morning to get consistent weights.

MsTropix
04-03-2010, 09:54 PM
Mi Valentine you look superb! Good job.

I also weigh daily and the fluctuations do not bother me a bit. It does help me to monitor how certain meals from day to day affect my weight gains as far as water or fat. I have used this to help me trash certain food items from my diet.

One example would be if I eat only one thin slice of Pizza Hut pizza I will gain 5 pounds of water over night! But if I eat one thin slice of Papa Murphys pizza my weight stays about the same or less. I do not know what the difference is between the two pizzas but my scale shows me there is one, so I STOPPED eating Pizza Hut months ago. I have trashed a lot of food items this way and am down to the mandatory basics that are right for me.

So far I have not seen my weight spike in over a month from anything I ate, so this method has helped me tremendously! Now I just need to figure out how to break this plateau I am stuck in.

I did my cheat day today. Had a BBQ. Chicken w/o BBQ sauce, (yuk I hate meat but force it down for protein intake on the weekends) boiled potato, (with coconut oil instead of butter) salad with grapes, (no dressing) a mini corn on the cob, (no butter) water and cran-grape juice lite.

I dont think anybody stopped by my thread since I posted my update pix 2 days ago- I would appreciate it if I could get some honest feedback from y'all to help me refocus on my routine. Thanks!!

For those of you that celebrate Easters, sample-sample-sample the foods ONLY!! Do not gorge or you may be regretfully paying for the consequences to catch up on your weight losses.

You will not hear from me tomorrow as I will be at the hospital with my mama.
Blessings to all of you and have a safe holiday! Have fun and relax.

I did 3 months of Dr Naturas Body Colon Cleanse/Detox two years ago and I loved it! I lost 30 pounds, it cured my constipation, my tongue finally turned pink again after it had been building up a white film for some reason, it also took care of a yeast issue I had been tortured by for years-poof, vanished- I spilled some little red eggs in my stool, and my acne completely went away. Talk about TMI, lol.

I know that sounds like an advertisement, lol, but I am ALL FOR cleasing and detox. It pulled me out of the grave it seems. Since then, my sister and my mother one aunt and a cousin have used it and all of them absolutely loved it too.

Not everybody has properly working liver-organs (like me) for one reason or another and a good cleanse may help in these cases.

Then again, Dont try to fix it if its not broken.

KUDOS for detox!

I does sound like you had some yeast problems, especially with thrush (white tongue). Have you ever tried acidophilus? It helps to regulate yeast in the body. If detoxes work for you, there is something(s) in this product that you may need. I guess we base our decisions on our experiences. Mine weren't as good as yours.

Happy Easter everyone and to everyone who doesn't celebrate Easter, Happy Sunday. :D
I'm going to enjoy my turkey dinner tonight.

BTW, i didn't hit the gym yesterday so i'm going today, in about 40 min.

I'm not familiar with that particular product. Changing things in your life, such as diet, routine, etc can have a profound effect on your health. Correlation does not mean causation. These issues you mentioned could have been caused by something unrelated.

I'm going to be running Colonix & Toxinout in August. Anything I should expect from it?
$88 per month??!?!?! That's INSANE! They're selling you a few dollars worth of fiber and worthless dried plants.

Please read up on the lack of science behind the detox & cleanse fad. Here are some resources:

My legs are still so sore from thursday. So sore that I am crippled, my GF has to help me up and out of chairs and stairs are impossible! I am supposed to train them again on tuesday...yea not happening. My legs never recover, they grow awesome, i love training them, but sometimes leg training for me doesnt happen every week due to recover problems.

Weigh in tomorrow morning, cant wait to see what it is. Pissed im missin out on all this easter candy:( but when i have my abs it will all be worth it

remember nothing will taste as good as looking good feels

see a piece of pizza, think of that quote, it helps!

earlier than I thought it would!

So instead I went for another run around the HS track. I wasn't as out of breath this time, probably cause I didn't lift first.

This is what I do as I work toward building up my endurance:

I run the straight portion of the track, then walk the curve. This way I don't get so out of breath! I did 1 1/2 miles (6 times around). Got some more sun too!

March broke the record for rain fall in the Boston area, so it was nice to finally get some sun the last couple of days!

Happy Easter to all!

Don't eat too much!

I use to do this when I was around 190 and getting ready for the military....I would also convert the miles into sprints.

I.E. 1.5 miles would be 2400 meters or 12 200 meter sprints. I would do this to just mix it up every now and then instead of always running.

Still going hard in this competition, I'm starting to walk a lot in the evenings to help burn off some extra calories. Its been 3 days since I gave up candy for this competition :(

My weight is staying steady might have to drop my cals a little bit, noticed changes in my clothes fitting and the way I look in the mirror. Workouts have been great with the weights and doing cardio afterwards. Looking forward to some big changes this next month with my new routine :)

Hope everyone else is still kicking butt!

Just took some measurements. Weight is down to 158 lbs (-13.8 lbs) but even more important my waist is down to 33.5" (-2"). That means in the last 10 days I've lost 2.2 lbs and 1" off my waist. At -1" per 10 days I'll be at 30" in 35 days. That's probably not realistic since I plan on increasing my calories in 2-3 weeks but still makes me happy.

This week isn't ending strong. Was really sick on Friday and Saturday and could barely breathe I was so congested. Had a good jog on Wednesday though! Just goes to show I can do more then I think (I tend to think I am not in shape enough to jog for more then a minute, lol). Anyway, I have seemed to have broken the cold and can breathe and feel a lot better today!

I took measurements today. I am down 6.5 inches total. It isn't great, but a lot better then I had expected considering I haven't really been regular with the workouts yet and my diet hasn't been very good until this week. Anyway, 12 weeks left so I still have time to rock it! I need to start scheduling workouts. If I dont' set a time, I don't do it and next thing you know the week is over.

I got a month's supply free from my Dad. He bought 2 months worth, claimed the first month did nothing for him (he didn't train or eat clean so there is the reason why), then gave me the 2nd month he had ordered for free - figure I may as well use it. I appreciate the thought though!

If detoxes work for you, there is something(s) in this product that you may need. I guess we base our decisions on our experiences. Mine weren't as good as yours.

Actually I never thought about that being thrush, duh. My yeast was inside and out though and was horrible to live with, especially during certain circumstances. I have had no signs of it since that cleanse. The cleanse came with a bottle of acidophilus, the drink mix like a metamucil but tasted better called colonix, and KLERA tea, (I think it was called KLERA, dont remember)Toxinout and some sort of metal detox.

I'm going to be running Colonix & Toxinout in August. Anything I should expect from it?

YES be prepared for everything and anything or nothing at all. You just never know. Side effects could be mild or severe, just depends. I spilled little red eggs in my stool and my sister spilled what looked like baby magotts. Rashes, pimples, diarrhea, mild fever, itchy skin, weakness, etc are a few things to be expected. It will go away the longer you take the cleanse. Those are signs of detox being released in different forms. If you have any worries while on it just PM me I will be happy to assist.

My mom is not hooked up to an sodium chloride IV anymore and they took her off of the Heparin drip and is now on a oral coumadin. We found out she is also a diabetic and has been on insulin injections last couple days. They have her on a diabetic diet which I detest, because now they are poisoning her with splenda products. Pisses me off. We are an organic family and since my moms stay in the hospital her quality of food has dissipated. Needless to say the food is all processed as well. :(

My sister and I have put our foots down with her and she will not return home to her typical diet. Eating organic is good, but gluttony in any diet is hazardous and I think she has had a wake up call. So we talked with her about portion control, food choices, spacing out food intake to every couple of hours, exercise that she can do from her TV chair, and the entire family (mama, gramma, aunts, cousin, sister, myself and my daughter) will be attending a TOPS program to get our diets in check. This will be good for my mom.

Well today is going to suck. Due to having to take off 2 consecutive days from the gym and messing up my schedule, along with feeling fat because of Easter dinner (which was actually well proportioned), I am going to do back AND legs today.

Strong masochism is strong.

I'm probably one of the few ones on here that didn't celebrate easter so my diet was still on point over the weekend...my gym was closed though so I couldn't really work out =( Just woke up 15 mins ago, going to go eat at the dining hall really quick and then hit the gym in an hr or so for a nice chest workout

About to hit up Disney today. On vacation. Gyms not too bad, wont get the best workout but better than nothing. Going to keep the diet clean which will be hard at Disney but lets see how the menu is.

I'm SO HAPPY! Stayed AWAY from ALL the Easter dinner delights this weekend :D Even brought a food scale to the inlaws place ;)

Weight has stalled for the past 5 days. Not sure what's going on as the diet/training has been perfect. We'll see what this week brings. Cause I'm sure killin' it on that stepmill darnit!!

I stayed away from all the goodies also but mine was because I ended up sick. I got up yesterday with the worst headache ever, blood pressure was ellevated and I was dizzy. I went to church but after that I went home and just relaxed. I used to have high blood pressure and on medication but I beat it but maybe I am going to have to take meds again. I hope not. It could be a lack of sleep caught up with me tho :D

What a good Easter yesterday! I think I seriously ate a whole package of cookies and gained a good 10lbs. Hitting legs this morning before going to work. I haven't worked out this early in a while, Hope the PreSurge gets me through this!

Well I lost another 2 pounds last week and weighed in at 227lbs. My body is starting to lean out gradually. My waist is smaller and my legs are starting to lean a but. I carry most of my weight below the waist in my thighs and buttocks so starting last week I am devoting Wednesday strictly to blasting my wheels. Today my legs are just starting to stop aching. The carb-up last weekend definately helped and since I low carb Sunday thru Thursday the Easter Holiday really was not an issue.

Good Luck to everyone this week!

Sorry Should have been Week 4 in the books, bring on Week 5!

trudyelizabeth

Just took some measurements. Weight is down to 158 lbs (-13.8 lbs) but even more important my waist is down to 33.5" (-2"). That means in the last 10 days I've lost 2.2 lbs and 1" off my waist. At -1" per 10 days I'll be at 30" in 35 days. That's probably not realistic since I plan on increasing my calories in 2-3 weeks but still makes me happy.

How funny...we weigh the same. I'm 5' 9.5" though and don't nearly have the muscle you do.

Recently I've been super battling my allergies so cardio has really not been there like I would like. Even now my throat is killing me. I have continued to lift, though, because I know how important it is. The last 3 days I've strayed from my diet but I wouldn't really say I've been "cheating." I've picked out healthy things to eat as much as possible. I even turned down some delicious looking streusel cake at Easter dinner. My appetite is just really not there so I've been under-eating for sure and missing my water intake because of throat pain.

I'm hoping to pick up some different allergy meds today so that I can feel more normal soon. I weighed in today at 178.4 which was exciting. It's been a long time since I was this light. I also got OxyELITE Pro over the weekend, hopefully it will really speed up the fat loss.

I hope everyone has a great week!

I keep some motivating quotes visible around the house, office, etc just to give me a little push. Here are some of my favorites.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there. (unknown)

Mark Twain:
Habit is habit and not to be flung out of the window by any man, but coaxed downstairs a step at a time.

Goethe:
Take care of your body with steadfast fidelity. The soul must see through these eyes alone, and if they are dim, the whole world is clouded.

Samuel Johnson:
The chains of habit are generally too small to be felt until they are too strong to be broken.

Vincent Lombardi:
The good Lord gave you a body that can stand most anything. It's your mind you have to convince.

Roger Bannister:

Hope everyone had a good easter. Mine was great but I'm paying for it today. I ate a bunch of junk but kept my calories w/in a reasonable amount. My sleep has been off though. It's probably b/c I was out until 5am on Sunday :D Ugh.

Glad I stuck to my carb cycling meal plan, down a ton visually. Not sure how much scale-wise, probably anywhere from 10-15lbs. Also keeping my strength, and a lot more defined. Can't wait for May to be over, then I can start my bulk.

The results are in.... for the Gold's Gym 12 weeks Challenge!
I will post the pictures when I get them...

I don't think I made enough progress to win the challenge (last year winner lost 65 lbs) but I am proud of the progress I made.
Also for those that did not follow from the get go, I actually lost 18 real lbs not 35, since I purposely gained 17 lbs just for the challenge and took me about a week to lose it.
So in 12 weeks, I lost 18 lbs so that is 1.5 lbs a week... not crazy but decent.

Weight: 269 lbs - 234 lbs (-35 lbs)
*** Should have been 229, but thanks to Easter, gained 5 lbs!
Body Fat: 28.6% - 23.8 % (-4.8%)
*** I can live with that... waiting to brake in the teens now!
Biceps : 16.5" - 16.5" (0.0")
*** Not sure what to feel about this one... I could have sworn they look bigger and more defined.
Waist: 45" - 35.5" (-9.5")
*** Now that is where all the fat was hiding!
Hip: 48.5" - 44" (-3.5')
*** Yeah, lost some junk in the trunk,,,
Thigh: 26,5" - 28.5" (+2.0")
*** Also not sure how to feel about this one... I thought they look more defined and leaner, like I lost fat. But gained 2".

And a few pictures I took while on my way to the gym:

The man who can drive himself further once the effort gets painful is the man who will win.

Marvin Phillips:
The difference between try and triumph is just a little umph!

Plato:

am pretty happy with my 4 week results.

Bust (-1 3/4")
Waist (-1 7/8")
Hips (-1 3/4")
Weight (-11.2 pounds)

I am noticing the rolls in my back are turning into waves and my shoulders are finally getting defined. I am waiting for the day when I can hang my purse handles on my shoulder and they don't slide off! Nothing irritates me more

I am not ready to take pictures again yet. I am thinking I will at the half way mark in four more weeks.

Heading to Florida with 100 high school kids on a charter bus this week (15 hour ride!). I hope I can stick to healthy food! I think the hotel has a gym, so I might be utilizing that if I can sneak away for a little while.

Hey everyone,

I have been so busy with all of the things going on in life at the moment!! All great things, so nothing too negative to be chatting about. But I have had far too many chocolate Easter eggs these past two days. They are for my son, but somehow they end up in my tummy!!??? I must get my diet back on track and sweat my butt off this week due to my overindulgences....

I Hope everyone is doing well, I have not yet weighed/measured myself so I will do so this Thursday... Hopefully this weekend didn't do too much damage to me. As a sidenote, I love the livestrong website for my meal tracking,by far the simplest online journal I have used...

This is going to sound terribly trite and rude, and I really hope it doesn't come across as such.

Just build it up. (unless of course you have some kind of reason why you can't or asmtha)

I'm by no means a stellar runner, but much much better then I was, even 3 months ago. I've gone from a 15minute steady pace to 40minute steady pace. It hurts, and is painful and makes me feel like I'm going to die, but I'm getting there.

How did everyone do over Easter? It was hard skipping on the Starburst Jelly-Beans this year lol.

I did really well! Helps that my family doesn't get together and there was no big huge southern family spread of food lol..but I did have 1 cadbury egg. They're my weakness.

I used to really like Biggest Loser..until the product placements and endorsements just got way out of control. "Look! We can pack the leftovers from our Subway sandwich in these handy little Ziploc baggies! How neat!"

it's totally possible to lose weight without exercising, you just gotta keep an eye on your diet. It'll be a little slower than if you didn't exercise, but it can still happen, just stay consistent and keep at it! do whatever you can!

I am so happy I skipped the whole Easter festivities. No ham, pie or candy for me and I lost 2 lbs. this week. I am also down another 1/4" on my arms, 1/2" on my hips and 1" on my waist. I swam yesterday morning, biked to and from work even though it was cold and lifted last night. I feel strong and lean this morning.

My dad smuggled candy over to my husband bcuz I said he couldn't have an Easter basket this year since he's on a diet. I can't believe sugar made it past me- the 'Food Hitler' as my family likes to call me.

I've got a question for anyone who can answer it.

I've read a lot of posts about people who can feel their body temp go up and say that their metabolism must be ramped and that's why they feel the heat.

I've been getting this a lot lately and it's mostly a few minutes after i've gone to bed. So i'm not doing anything but laying there and all of a sudden i feel hot. I don't really sweat, sometimes i do, but i just feel hot. I can especially feel the heat in my legs.

Is there any documentation or studies that talk about this metabolic ramp, if that's what it is?

omg! i hope you're okay!

it's totally possible to lose weight without exercising, you just gotta keep an eye on your diet. It'll be a little slower than if you didn't exercise, but it can still happen, just stay consistent and keep at it! do whatever you can!

Thank you. I woke up this morning feeling like I was ran over by a semi. I will not be visiting my mom today at the hospital, I should be there in my own bed, lol. Im too sore and stiff. Have to wash my bedding too its all yucky from my wounds. Diet is the easy part, but I feel so cheated now.

Hmmm. I have not experienced that as far as metabolism temps, but I am 38 yrs old and already diagnosed by the Dr I am premenopausal. Not knowing your age I thought I would throw that out there too as a possibility for ya.

Hey Brian, I know its frustrating but as you said, keep pluggin away at it. I dunno what your diet routine is but Keep your snacks spaced out to every couple hrs and dont eat more than a fist size of food at a time. Forget the whole breakfast, lunch and dinner mindset-every two hrs is sufficient enough. Do you count calories? Carbs? etc...Listen to your scale as it will help you figure out if what you ate the day before caused a weight spike or not so ya can trash certain foods from your diet routine. Perhaps add an extra glass of water daily. If you are already on top of all this and having trouble change up the exercise routine. kudos Brian for being a honest poster in here.

I have a few years to get there yet and everything else is normal. I've read a few posts over the last couple of years from people who feel hot throughout their body and explain it as a "ramped up metabolism". I wonder if this is what i'm feeling? It could very well be "The Change" but i think i'm a little young for it and like i said, everything else in that area is normal and on time.

I've looked for a posting on the web and i can't find anything, so...i don't know.

I spend around 50-70$, things like peanut butter and oatmeal usually last u about a month so all I have to buy would be meats and frozen veggies and bread by the end of the week

x2! I spent probably $100 for two people if I'm not stocking up on things like oatmeal/PB/Supps :) I might try that Skippy Natural PB. I've been buying the spendy stuff from Whole Foods to reduce my fat content but *shrug* I'm not so sure it makes that much a difference.

I don't have any technical studies to give you but I've experienced the same thing while taking metabolism boosters like Hydroxycut/Cytolean/etc. I haven't experienced it outside of taking those, so my assumption was always that it was "working" when I felt like that. As long as it's not a painful feeling, I would assume this is ok?

This is going to sound terribly trite and rude, and I really hope it doesn't come across as such.

Just build it up. (unless of course you have some kind of reason why you can't or asmtha)

I'm by no means a stellar runner, but much much better then I was, even 3 months ago. I've gone from a 15minute steady pace to 40minute steady pace. It hurts, and is painful and makes me feel like I'm going to die, but I'm getting there.

I know I need to build it up, but how long should it take. Seems to never get easier. What's the best way to build it up? Right now I'm doing 1 min jogging, 1 min walking. Perhaps there's a better strategy?

Well I just found out a couple days ago that I will be going on a sudden Florida trip in about two weeks or so. I've got to visit some colleges down there and I guess that this is my only chance. I was driving back to school today and it really hit me that I need to get into shape fast so I don't feel embarrassed or ashamed with my shirt off. I'm going to definitely be doing some major work over the next couple weeks. I've been at a stall at about 195 pounds so I gained a few pounds up to 198 over a couple days and now I'm dropping again. My weight loss seems to be sporadic.

Started at 221. Got surgery and got down to 207. Got down to about 198 or so and ended up back around 205. Got down to about 195 and jumped back up to 198. I'm now on the fall again so I'm hoping to hit around 190 by the end of next week for the trip.

Food today:
Breakfast 11 PM
1 Cup of Yogurt (80 Calories)(it was a diet kind!)
3 Cups of black coffee

Lunch 1:30 PM
Egg White omelet with bacon, tomatoes, green peppers, jalapenos little bit of cheddar cheese
Green salad with 6 oz chicken breast, 4 baby tomatoes, light ranch dressing and some cheddar cheese
1 cup of green tea (10 calories)
1 cup of unsweetened tea

I'm going to hold out until dinner time where I'll have a 6 inch subway sandwich with Honey oat bread, turkey, lettuce, tomato, jalapenos, provolone cheese, pickles and no dressing. As well as 16 oz of skim milk.

I've drank about 40 oz of straight water today, gonna drink more throughout the night.

30 seconds full out sprint (or just as fast as you can manage once you tire), 60 seconds of walking. Do 4 or 5 rounds of that.

Do that for a few weeks. Once you are able to run the full 30 seconds straight, and not totally dead by the end of the 5 rounds, start doing 60 seconds sprinting, 120 seconds walking.

That's pretty much how they run it in Army basic, and believe me, we had kids who were running 20 minute 2 miles in the beginning get that down to 12 minutes for 2 miles after 14 or so weeks.

You have to push yourself as hard as you can during the sprint phases, though. Even if by the last set your sprint is the equivalent of someone elses fast walk, as long as it's your 100% then you'll make progress. As longs as your pushing yourself hard on the sprints you will make progress, and probably pretty quick.

the only thing that i can recall that might be similar to this is when you're taking something that "speeds up your metabolism" such as caffeine/ephedrine, your actual body temperature can raise.

I guess it depends on what you're shooting for...overall endurance (maybe jogging 5 miles or so?) or speed? (jogging 2 miles pretty quickly..?)

I'm pretty good at the slow jog over a long period of time. ie - 5.3 - 5.5 mph for 4+ miles. Got it up to 10 miles at a time at one point - but I was planning on running in a half marathon.

There are quite a few books out there that will help you plan runs to build up your endurance. Look for any books on training for half marathons.. or you could just check out www.runnersworld.com and click on 'training' at the top. They have a section for beginners that could help!

What I've found was to set myself some sort of goal...1 km, 2km, 3km, etc. And try to finish that. I was discouraged the first few times since I couldn't finish them, but the next time, I would get closer. Today I did 6km! Which, if you know me is huge for me.

Something that really helped me was getting a running buddy. Even when I was pretty sure I was going to die, it was way to embarassing to stop.

Diet was perfect today.

I layed out a blanket in the sun today and sunbathed while I painted some vases and shelves with my daughter. It was a beautiful day to say the least.

Exercise? Well, if about 30 minutes of easy belly dancing counts-thats all I could manage to do.

My body is so sore still and I cant lift my arm up all the way now. When I walk I feel its slipping and its very sore, everything hurts from head to toe. I either ripped a muscle in my gut or got a hernia or something too. LOL. Geez. Suprisingly my scrapes and cuts healed up fast. Its not all swelled up around them anymore.

So the rumor has it, Mama will be back home tomorrow! I didnt get to visit her yesterday or today from my fall.

Played intense basketball tonight for well over an hour, I would say that was pretty good cardio. Stuck to a good diet today, added a protein bar about 2 hours ago so that I could stay up and study and keep from getting too hungry.

Weighing myself in the AM, hopefully I'm down a little bit from the 195.8 that I weighed in at 3 days ago.

Hope everyone else can stay on track since I'm having trouble.

I cant stand the heat or sleep when its really hot either :( why I live in my parents basement its like 10-15 degrees cooler.. Although living in the basement during the winter sucks :(

Congrats to you and everyone that is still in this!

1/4 of the way down... 3/4 to go:D

I saw the progress pics bro, Awesome job! Your doing serious work.

I'm back in town after a brief visit back home that was filled with tons of temptations, half of which I fell for :o Nothing like good bro's asking you to go out every night. Back on track this week. On the positive, I ran 3.1 miles the other day and it felt freaking amazing. Going to run in a 5k next month and I want to break the 25 minute mark. No cheat meals til' the run is over! !

Was down another 2.5lbs on Saturday however I also left for a 3 day weekend at a local resort on Saturday morning. Ended up doing lots of hiking, had a couple workouts and even swam some laps in the pool, so I don't feel too bad about avoiding the diet while I was away :D

I am finally getting a chance to post a “post Easter log”. I see that I am just as human and normal as a few others with an Easter food hangover. I was feeling bad that I might be the only one that fell off the wagon over the weekend.

No real work out since last Friday. I finally got to the gym today. Did 25 minutes on the tread mill then just a few weights time is hard to come by.

I think I can say I had some light cardio over the weekend. I chased our soon to be 2 year old grandson all over the park!! Man if I could just bottle some of his energy it would be great & I could be rich!!!

Weight on Good Friday was 205lbs
Weight on Monday after Easter 210lbs. Hope most are fluids.
I will weigh on Friday for my weekly.

I thought I would have gained more than I did. I did indulge in some good cold beverages and great food with the family. I did have some restraint over the weekend. Not too many sweets like I thought I would have.

Now it is time to get back on the diet. Maybe skip the cheat meal this weekend and go for my goal of 198lbs by 4-21-10. That will be my 100lbs loss in one year.

Congrats to all that have done well and made progress. I got to get back on track like many of you, and start posting some good progress reports.

strong water weight loss....I started back on my diet cleaning out all the nasty food and In 2 days dropped 8 pounds.....must have been taking in a ton of sodium LOL...funny thing is I'm eating more now then I was last month and not having nearly as much trouble with the weight loss...I guess I prefer to eat more and burn more :D. I am also sticking to the p90x diet plan which I like alot...but cant wait till the next phase when I take in more carbs. If I keep up this rate of weight loss I'll be down to 230 within 30 days :O

So far I'm down 7.6 lbs for the contest!!! My weight loss has really been steady recently. It was rather stubborn at first, but that's how it always goes for me. It takes WEEKS before I see any change in the scale and once it starts happening it continues for some time. I'm dreading the plateau that is surely around the corner, though. I was 177.8 this morning...I started the year off pushing 200. So I'm feeling pretty good right about now!

The only disappointing thing is I haven't really been able to increase weights in the gym much. All in due time, I suppose. I'm not really targeting strength gains right now, anyway. Last night I did 20 mins on the stepmill...I was really sweating!! That thing is killer.

Hope everyone else is having a great week!

So I've either been half assing it in the gym the whole time, or this is a really effective workout!

I just did the first workout in NROLFW, and I gotta tell ya, short, but holy guacamole it was intense! I was using tester weights, seeing what I could do and so on. So next round I'll be upping them a bit.

But how shaky and sweaty I was after this workout makes me think I've been wasting all my other workouts.

AHH! I'm so pumped! Nothing like a wicked workout to get you moving!

Trying to figure out how to get tomorrows cardio in. My gym opens a 5:50am, and I start work at 7am. I need to slip some cardio in there, plus a shake and shower.

Tomorrow is going to be a long day :(

I'm going to take some progress pics b/t now and the end of the week. I'm starting to get a little frustrated b/c I haven't really lost that much weight compared to everyone else in this thread. My sister (that lives out of town) said she though I was losing and she didn't know I was dieting...so that's good. I was down to 277 (from 283) on sunday but shot up to 280 after easter even though I didn't go crazy on the food. I'm hoping its water retention so I'm upping my water intake. Hopefully, everything will get flushed out soon.

Original goal- To weigh in at 341 by April 6th. THIS GOAL NOT ONLY WAS REACHED BUT I BEAT IT BY 5 POUNDS!

Next goal is to reach 330 pounds by May 5th.

This is only a 5 pound loss since the start of contest.

...and keepin my eye on the body that inspires me. I would have to lose more weight than what I have set my goal for to be as small as Jen, but I love her body and it gives me the drive to bring me closer to my dreams.

Before September 2009 and after April 2010

Obviously it took me several months to lose 20 pounds. I had been experimenting with diet and exercise until I got it right for me- so it took patience and time. Now since the start of the OBF contest, my body has started to quit being so clingy with my weight loss and its getting easier to let it go now. Not much progress can be seen but the photos DO in their own way reflect a 20 pound weight loss.

Ps the photo says KetoTherapy's Progress pix but that was my old account name-its me.
