Does anyone know of a company that makes their machines (ie. Lat Pulldown) using rubber straps instead of cables? The gym I used to go to had a few really old machines like this, and my workouts were so much better on them. The manufacturer of the old machines was body something...
Thanks

I have a Body Master overhead triceps extension machine that uses a rubber strap. I also have a Body Master lat pulldown that uses a regular cable so I guess they made machines using both.

Star Trac does. A local gym I go to on occasion has a room full of Star Trac jungle gyms/lat pulls, etc, and another entire circuit filled with machines using rubber straps.

Those straps are actually a laminate material, made with rubber and some type of non-stretching fiber, usually Kevlar.
The strap-type machines are actually superior to cable-type, due to the greatly reduced friction of a belt riding over a flat wheel, as opposed to a round cable riding in the V-groove of a sheave. Think, 'serpentine' belt used on all automobiles, as opposed to the old, V-belts that are long-obsolete.

I saw a Magnum Fitness lat pulldown the other day with that.
