I'm taking a 2 year fitness and health promotion course in college in the fall after I've gotten back from army training. What are some good choices of jobs before I become a PT, so I can be a part of the fitness industry and gain some knowledge while I'm still in school school? I'm thinking supplement stores, or working at a gym as a consultant, not sure what would be best.
Advice is appreciated

While in school I worked as a Physical Therapist Assistant. GREAT job before becomming a trainer for obvious reasons.

I'm guessing you had schooling for that right? I'm looking for something you need no education for, I do have a basic knowledge of working out and nutrition though.

go wait tables or bartend. You'll make more money and you'll know whether or not you are good with people. By the time you start training you'll understand sales a bit more and will have no reservations about speaking with people.

I'll consider that, I am also in the army but its part time, full time 5 months out of the year.

I'd say get a job at the front desk of a gym, or as a consultant. At the very least, you'll learn a little bit about how gyms operate. Also, depending on the gym, you might even give yourself a foot in the door for getting hired there as a PT.

That's pretty impressive as I know lots of people with exercise bio/kines degrees that are struggling to find physical therapy aid jobs fresh out of college.

It was in a college town and I think they just used us for cheap labor :). We did have to have completed our A&P classes, so it's not like zero education was required. But, man was it awesome experience when it came to my training.
What state are you in? I have recruiters/head hunters emailing me all the time about PT aid positions. I'm not interested, but they ask for referrals, so if any of those having trouble finding a job are interested, send me their info. The jobs are mostly in Texas and Louisiana, but they will pay for relocation.

I'm in cali, and I think they all want to stay in cali haha thanks for the offer though! Quite generous! If I do find someone who does want to relocate, I'll definitely shoot you a PM :D

Fitness membership sales. If you can succeed at that, you will be able to sell training packages very easily because they pale in comparison, in terms of difficulty. Learning how to sale is the difference between earning $15,000/yr and $75,000/yr.

VERY true...although you will probably loathe yourself after a while unless you enjoy the darkside :)
