Hey guys, i just bought plates for my dumbells that are 10 lbs and i realized that 2 plates are small and 6 plates are bigger. What do you guys can suggest about the 2 plates should i split the small plates like 1 plate is on the left dumbell and the other 1 is on the right for sure balance? it says that all are 10 lbs im just worried about the size. does it matter? Or should i place the 2 plates on just 1 dumbell since they are all 10 lbs But if you will compare the small ones from the big ones it doesnt have a big difference but u will see 1 is smaller than the other. thanks

Thanks for the Monday morning headache.

The physical size shouldn't matter as much as the weight.

I agree with Riggaman. I offset my standard dumbbells all the time. I doesn't make any difference in the way they feel.

what do you mean by offset your dumbells? I use my dumbells with both hands for presses and raises. My main concern is can i split the 2 small one and put 1 on left mixing with big 10lbs and 1 on right mixing with big 10lbs to be sure for balance or should i put both 10lbs small plates on just 1 dumbell and 10lbs big plates on the other dumbell.

It's simple: Just put one small one as the first plate on the far right inside of the left bar and all the big ones on the left outside of the same right handle then do just the opposite to to the left bar then be sure to workout with the left bar in the right hand and the right bar in the left hand and it should balance out perfectly. It's easy.

maybe the small ones are a little thicker? he's right, though, for dbs the diameter of the plate won't throw balance off.

I thought he should put the small one that he has left on the right outside handle and the other small one on his right on the left inside... but your way works well, too.

Seriously, this thread made me feel duh888...

Is there an epidemic disease going around? I can see HK symptoms in the above comment.
