I crashed big time last Thursday night squatting on my second set of 405 lbs. My knees pretty much exploded, the tendon connecting my quad and patellar (I think) ripped off the bone on BOTH legs. I was on my 4th or 5th rep and collapsed to the sound of "snap snap" and the sensation bones snapping. I could not extend my legs, ut hamms still work. I had surgery to repair them yesterday and am told I'll be in a cast of some sort (immobilized) for up to 8 weeks maybe more. I'm 42 and been doing this for 25 years or more and at time much more weight. I warmed up plenty, no advanced warning, no I'm screwed for at least 6 months. I ws qualified to go to to IFBB nationals in both the open and masters in July / August, but that is all gone. I'll just be proud to be able walk normally again.

I hear a double injury is rare, but have any of you been through any of this? It was nassstee to watch, but amazingly had no pain at all until about 4 hours later in the ER.

First off, I'd like to say that you have my deepest sympathies. I feel for you, really.
As for double injury, no, I have not had that, but I was doing seated leg press with really high weight (also warmed up well) and tore my abductor muscle. Out of legs for many weeks to come. I must have overloaded my muscle somehow :/

Any updates on your recovery? I am 7 1/2 weeks out of surgery and Monday will be out of immobilization. Doc had me walking on it the whole time. Any recommendations on exercises to regain my range of motion. I also have been doing upper body from about week 3.
