Dude, get real. Look at the shape of a football compared to a soccer ball.

typically our kickers are excellent soccer players. its a shame cuz the soccer team is extremely resistant to letting them just kick. but the best we had were two kids that had contests during thursday practice (half pad day) by basically playing "horse" kicking field goals. only time ive seen a teenager attempt (and barely miss) a 65yd field goal. same kid gotta bad snap during a game, evaded two tackles, and while running laterally managed to punt the ball 55 some yards. they both ended up taking soccer scholarships if i remember right.
tl;dr soccer players can be good kickers if the two teams allow it.

This one soccer player had a 45yd kick his first attempt really. It was for a contest and he had like 10 practice shots total and made it clean.
Better than our regular kicker, but he's still cocky and thinks he is great when he isn't lol...

What this guy said. Every good kicker Ive known has started as a soccer player.

Some have already said it, but soccer players make great football kickers. The placekicker on my team plays soccer for the school as well. He practices with the soccer team and practices his kicking after his soccer practice. My holder stays late with him. Once or twice a week, he joins us for full placekick team practice. He is a great kicker, a terrifc soccer player (all-state) and one of the best conditioned athletes I have ever seen. Not to mention he has a tremendous work ethic and outlook.
So my recommendation to you, if you want to give it a try, talk to your soccer coach and talk to the football coach. If you can hack it, they will give you a fair shot.

Since we ain't "them", it doesn't matter what we think. Go talk with the coaches.
I've heard lots of stories about soccer kids doubling as football placekickers. As somebody that played football, I don't really care...just don't mess up (especially if you're going to be one of those part time football kickers that doesn't really participate and practice with the team).

in my brothers school his friend is a soccer star and is also the #17 ranked kicker in HS. if your coach lets you, see if you can kick.

Haha ... I don't understand how people think that the shape of a football vs a soccer ball is really going to make a difference ... they still kick it in the same spot basically. A strong leg is a strong leg.

It really depends on your Football and Soccer coaches. The kickers for my team play soccer and are specialized in kicking. Most good kickers originated from soccer.
