Hi! I'm thinking about entering the 2010 NPC Midwest Competition that is being held in April in St. Louis, MO. I have no experience, but believe that I'm in the best shape of my life. I would love to hear tips or suggestions on how to go about getting started in this. Thanks in advance to anything info that you could provide on getting started.

Tom

Go get it man!
Achieve your dream, just starting working really hard.

I am also going to be entering it as my first comp. Hopefully I can get down to what I need to be so I can compete!

Good luck!

Curtis,

Thanks for the encouraging words. Good Luck to you as well. Do you know how to go about getting info on this? Info such as, what are we suppose to wear? Are there particular poses that we need to practice? Stuff like that? I'm wanting to do this in April, but really have no idea what I'm doing. Any advice, much appreciated buddy.

Sonnyo,

You look like you have some experience. Can you answer a few questions?

1) Wondering do we purchase the "speedo" of what ever we're suppose to pose in? If so, where are and what am I looking for?

2) Is it recommended to get with a coach for poses? I can flex, but I pretty sure that there are some particular poses that the judges look for.

Just worried being a newbie and all.

Any advice much appreciated!

Tom

First check out the website for the competition. npcmidwest.com there you can find out some information on how to pose. they do a class and stuff. posing is really important. you may look good but if you can't show it off then it won't matter. so talk with jack titone. his number is on the website. he will call you back.

I always get my posing suits on this website bodybuilding.com. they have a good selection. I would recommend having two posing trunks. you never know what could go wrong :). you'll want to get a solid color. ( red, blue, green or whatever you want).

Start tanning as well. you wanna have a good base tan before you put on your protan or what ever you may use. If you don't have a base tan you'll look orange. bright orange.

Any other questions let me know.
