Hello. I want to start lifting weights to build healthy bone mass and general strength and energy. I know nothing about weight lifting except for the weight machines at my gym. I do the circuit on low settings and do some 3 lb free weights to work biceps, triceps, and chest.
However, I mainly focus on cardio excercises (treadmill, bicycle, elliptical, rowing machine). How do I get started on a solid weight lifting routine?
I don't know where to begin.
Thanks!
Adelaide.

Welcome :)
There are a bunch of articles on the main site for beginners that can give you a good idea of where to start. You can search for workouts using specific types of equipment also, like dumb bell work outs.
Is there a trainer at your gym that you can meet with? When first starting it can be really helpful to have someone show you in person what to do.

Good luck starting out. Just a question, why do you use 3lb weights?
If I were you I would read these forums and into the archives, that's a bit of how I learned when I first got started.

That should at least get you started in your research.
Good Luck!

Go to Amazon.com or to Barnes and Noble and check out "The New Rules of Lifting for Women". That should tell you everything you need to know.
